Survivor 47 (and some bonus info!)

Disagree, “we need strength” is a common cry when trying to decide who to vote out. Now whether they actually follow their own advise…

Same. It will hurt them.

Oh, I don’t know, I kinda like how it puts a target on their back.

The game is waaaay to early for that shit - hell they haven’t even merged yet.

I have a feeling he will make it past the Rome issue. If he does he might become a player. And Rome is being a huge dick.

I’m not convinced. A grown adult can’t be that bad. I can’t be convinced he didn’t intentionally throw the challenge. I think he wanted to go to tribal and lord his skill and advantages over everyone else. Otherwise, any rational person would have asked someone else to step in.

I feel like the biggest unwritten rule that never gets talked about is “Don’t ever be the one to throw out a ‘decoy’ name.” It always seems to backfire.

Well, they can’t switch roles once they’ve started the puzzle, so the only other person who could do it would be Genevieve, who seemed to be content just handing pieces.

My wife insists he threw it, I am claiming he is just that stupid.

And, IMHO- stupid. Throwing your name out in a bluff is not a threat. Genevieve made a huge error. Now Rome will continue to be really bad at challenges and will keep bullying poor Sol.

Pretty much, everyone does.

I never heard that. Dont be the the guy who throws out a name for real is a rule, becuase too often it come back to haunt you.

Rome is one of my least favorite players in quite awhile. I hope they get rid of him soon.

Which Kishan also did!

He broke at least two fundamental Survivor rules:

  1. If the vote is not you, do not try to change the vote. I call this the Sandra rule. Kishan was 100% safe until he tried to change things up.
  2. Do not throw out a name unless you absolutely have to. Decoy or otherwise.

I would add one additional rule - if your alliance mate, on whom you are depending for your plan, says something like “oh, I just sat here and was told was the plan was”… you are in trouble.

But really his failure was #1. Never, ever cause chaos if you are safe. Chaos benefits those at risk, not those that are safe. Even more so in this case because it is clear nobody really likes Rome, so he’s a perfect shield at a merge.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone as shocked at a blindside before. Not angry, not upset, but absolutely in shock. She didn’t think for a second it would be coming.

This might be the best pre-merge in a long long time.

Yep. Total shock on her behalf. Didnt’ see it coming at all.

Again, loved the challenges. Both were very well done, and there was a great balance of physical and mental challenges.

I think all episodes should have a reward and immunity challenge. Helps the pacing in these longer episodes.

Yeah, she was mad.

Jeez, I thought they were going to have to call security to drag her off the set. You got beat, sweetie. Tip your hat and try to exit with some dignity intact.

It’s hard, but that is one thing I would prepare for before going out there. What will I say when voted out, even if shocked?

“Wow, shocking. Great game, folks, I wish you all the best. Have fun! Behave!”

Something like that makes a good final impression.

Mabe, “Jeff, can I have a hug?”

Nah, we’ve had way too many “Wow, I got played. Good job.” reactions. It’s nice to see some real emotions for once.

I almost felt bad for her as she was leaving. She really had no idea that it was coming. Has there ever been a more blind blindside than that one?

Hard disagree. I prefer the real reactions. I want to see someone actually shocked at their elimination, not a fake rehearsed “Oh haha well done you guys! Love you all!”

As a long time survivor fan, I gotta say, no. Absolutely shocked and stunned. She really had a hard time wrapping her head around that. And I appreciated that the ‘traitors’ fessed up. Honestly, that was a beautiful tribal to watch.

We call it the Cerie rule. Also known as the ‘As Long As It’s Not Me’ rule.

“Chaos isn’t a pit. Chaos is a ladder. Many who try to climb it fail and never get to try it again. The fall breaks them. And some are given a chance to climb. They refuse. They cling to the realm or the gods or love. Illusions. Only the ladder is real. The climb is all there is.” ~Little Finger (Game of Thrones)

Rule #3 - If you find an Idol, keep your mouth shut. The first person you share that info with will spread it like wildfire and a target will appear on your back.

I like separate challenges.

But some claim that it builds trust. More or less everyone spills the beans anyway. But, I agree, keeping it secret is better in some cases.

We agree. That is what I was saying.

Just caught up with the episode and while I felt bad for her, her lack of any hint it could be her going shows how limited her gameplay was.

Truly great players would never have been just sitting there trusting Sierra was telling the truth. Especially when she didn’t have a vote. They would have been hitting up Sam for any tells and hammering Sierra about how it had to be Andy.

I’m not sure there was anything she could do, but she clearly didn’t have a very strong episode (even beyond the blindside).

This is a good point. The very definition of a blindside is targeting a player that feels safe or in control. Complacency and blind trust are deadly in Survivor.

The majority do… but claiming that it builds trust and it actually being the case are two very different things.

Imagine the shock of thinking you’re driving the bus only to discover you’re thrown under the bus. It was the best blindside I can remember in this show.

  1. Excellent, excellent show. Showed the build up, and the payoff, and how the castaways dealt with lying to Rome.
  2. Once again, LOVED the competitions. Done so very, very well, and it did not favor strength versus intelligence. I’m surprised that team won - but I blame Rome for screwing up the puzzle so much.
  3. Sol? Voting for Andy? Not Rome? WTF, man!
  4. LOVED the aftermath of the red paint. Couldn’t have played off more perfectly.
  5. I’m starting to not like Sue. “I’m 45!” Yeah, right.

Good episode.
