Survivor 47 (and some bonus info!)

It was mostly Teeny and Sue. Rachel and Carolyn didn’t really say anything. I think if the final three is Sam, Teeny, and Sue, most of the votes are going Sam. Carolyn might throw a vote on Sue.

Yeah, and I dont get that also. Sam could not take everyone. Period. Some will not get the reward- and they lost so why do they deserve it?

It was an emotional reaction, not a rational one.

Yeah Teeny just seemed bitter she wasn’t picked for the reward. Her dislike of Sam seemed to be based solely that he’s a man and he didn’t choose her. Really a bad look for her.

That blindside was quite impressive.

Just a reminder to everyone, the finale has been split into two parts (whatever that means) and each episode is 2 hours long.

Wait, what? It airs over two weeks???

Over at the Dalton Ross comments, one poster is convinced that Rachel figured out Operation Italy but didn’t use her advantages to stop it because Rachel had the necklace and she can save her advantages in the chaos to follow Operation Italy. Basically, Andy did Rachel’s dirty work for her.

I have seen nothing that supports this, but it is an interesting idea.

She watched the episode twice, back to back (once when it aired and then with her son when he came over) and claims that Rachel seemed to be wary about the vote splitting but once she won immunity she backed off. My wife and I both commented during the episode that Rachel seemed dubious about the vote splitting.

Sure, but that doesnt me she wanted the chaos. I think she just went “Okay this sounds like it should work, but even if it doesnt, my ass is safe”.

Agreed. Imagine how ugly that would look were the genders reversed.

mmm

I said the same thing about “Eat Love Pray”. If that had been a guy who left his wife as she wanted kids- he’d be excoriated.

Finally watched the episode, and while I agree it was a good plan, I also agree with Genevieve that it should never have worked.

Shame on Caroline (and Sue) for not realizing how easily they could be blindsided and doing something about it. There is a 0% chance Sue will ever need her idol to save herself, so there is basically no downside in her playing it for Caroline this week.

And the plan of saying your voting Genevieve but actually stacking the vote on Sam is also pretty much foolproof, and certainly better than assuming Andy would stick as 5th in a 5-person alliance. How many times does he have to flip before you consider the possibility he might flip…

And then the plan they didn’t even seem to think of, blocking one of the votes of Sam or Genevieve, would have also guaranteed their 4-person (plus Andy) underdog alliance made it to final 5, and rendered the possibility of Andy flipping moot.

So yeah, while it was a good plan I think it’s more just terrible game play by bad players that were only in the position of having a majority because they are seen as bad players.

Now I think each one of Andy, Sam, Genevieve, and Rachel see a path to a Final 3 with Sue and Teeny that they think they can win. My nightmare is that it’s Andy, Sue, and Teeny and a super-bitter jury gives it to Teeny just because they blame Andy for getting them out.

“They”? Rachel had the block a vote, but also immunity. She wants to save it ti save herself. Rachel was right not to play it, because-why does she care if Caroline or Sue or Teeny goes?

“Ohhh Dats a scary one, it scared even me!”. (The Count)

But the block-a-vote is only good until Final 6, right? It seems unlikely that she would need it at final 6, which is the next TC. The obvious targets at that one would have be Sam/Genevieve (whichever one didn’t get home) and Andy (if he flipped). She also still has an idol.

Maybe her path to the Final 4 didn’t require having Caroline there, but I thought it was pretty clear she wanted Sam, Genevieve, and Andy to be the next three to go. I think she’s far more vulnerable to being an immediate target than she would have been if she had played the block a vote (which everybody knows about) and kept the idol. Then she can get to the Final 4 with the three goats (Sue, Caroline, Teeny) and either win the challenge or beat one of them at fire making and when the game.

In general I just think players are far too cautious about using their advantages.

But we shall see!

Unlikely but possible.

Sure, when agreeing with the other women about how bad Sam was. But she kinda likes Andy- or did.

Last season, the producers made a point of showing Kenzie comforting Ben when he had some “night terrors”. Kenzie won the season and Ben was a “zero vote finalist”

This year, Andy had a meltdown during the first immunity challenge and he also reached out to Rachel when he was having sort of panic attack in the middle of the night.

Just watched the last episode. I’m pretty sure Teeny is a descendant of Andy Devine.

Wow. Those were two GREAT episodes. As always, the challenges were awesome.

But for these two episodes, it was the first time in a long time I didn’t skip ahead over conversations that weren’t going anywhere! They showed a tight, detailed progression of the votes, and how everyone was trying to manipulate everyone else. It was freakin’ beautiful! You could see everyone’s positions, how they’d built their discussions, and how they were trying to get the others to agree with them.

And Genevieve? Holy crap, that was some AWESOME fakery. She played it just perfect, and almost… ALMOST… fully tricked Teeny.

I loved all two hours of this.

So I would say odds are 90% Rachel wins, 10% Sam wins? My only worry for Rachel now is that they’ve talked up how good she is at fire, that it might just be editing for a dramatic upset if she loses at fire-making.
