Survivor 48

That happened a few seasons ago in American Survivor too. They had to build a puzzle while walking through a springy maze thing. Jake stomped on the maze and broke a spring so he was out.

Ah, so it has happened. Deep cut rules interest me since I’ve been watching 25(!) years.

The tribe finally made a move that made sense but it’s going to be hard to break the Joe/Eva alliance now.

David really has some Captain America guns.

Can someone please explain to me why Kamila voted for Mitch? That makes no sense to me.

Best we could think of is that it was a hedge in case Shauhin had an idol.

Speaking of, how late in the game can the idols be used? Is the next vote the last one where an idol can be played?

Yes, final five is the last chance to play an idol. So if either Joe or Eva wins the next immunity, they’re both in the final four.

They truly waited too long to start making moves.

Are you referring to anyone except Joe and Eva? Because if you are, you are correct. A couple of episodes ago when Mitch said, “I’m sure people at home watching are saying, ‘Mitch, it’s time to make a move’, but I don’t think they understand how it is here. I’ll do it next vote”

I was literally yelling at the TV, ‘You are loosing numbers, next vote it will be too late!’ and of course it was. In fact, Mitch was never shown on screen once after they got back from reward until tribal. Not that he ever has been, but Mitch is nothing in this game. I like the guy but he is terrible at Survivor.

I also don’t understand the logic in voting out Shauhin. He was willing to vote out Eva. And why, oh why no one has broken up that power couple yet is WAY beyond me. That’s Survivor 101, isn’t it? Break up any power couple? I think Kyle and Kamilla wasted a good opportunity.

I’m not a hater, but this season is been very disappointing.

Yes, that is what I meant.

When Kyle and Camilla came up with their scheme, I thought, “There’s no way in hell that’ll work.” But damned if it didn’t work to perfection.

It was actually fun to see somebody finally do something. It just wasn’t the right something.

Yeah, I was happy to see that work too but, agreeing, that it just seemed pointless. What’s the goal now? Out talk Joe and Eva at the final? Never happen in a million years. Like him or not, Joe has been a dominate player and his story about his sister and his love of his family will be hard to top. And Eva, well…

Hope they split the votes and you sneak in? Or maybe pray that you get Joe out and only have to face Eva and you can make the case that she was carried?

Eva has really done nothing except get dragged along by Joe. If it weren’t for her autism and the fact that she’s so darn likable, she’d be a nothing player.

Nevertheless, if she happens to be in the final three without Joe, she will likely win.

I agree with this. And it’s a shame too. She will likely win due to sympathy and the fact that Joe will be on the jury lobbying for and his domineering way will probably sway the votes. But I agree that she has done nothing and doesn’t deserve to be even be at the final 3.

Maybe she’s likable to the players but not to me. She’s aloof and seems entitled. She’s been insulated from the experience.

That’s an interesting way to put it, though not inaccurate. But the same might be said for any player who never got targeted by an opposing alliance, or was forced to scramble for their life, or had to make a critical voting decision - i.e. any player who’s been carried to the finish. We usually call them “goats,” but nobody is calling Eva that.

As for entitled, she seems to be the only player who doesn’t get all butthurt when not chosen for a reward meal.

Agree. But she’s on this season and thus on this thread’s radar. .

Well, I’m just giving you my take. It’s mainly from her remarks in the confessionals. A quick perusing of the internet (quick, because I’m afraid I’ll see who gets voted out) seems to indicate I’m not alone. I don’t hate her but she can be incredibly annoying.

" She just appears rude and arrogant every time she’s in a confessional. Her getting mad at Mary for eating a coconut while she’s literally been on every merge reward was just baffling."

And then there’s her own words:

Again, don’t hate her but certainly not rooting for her.

I think Kyle has a compelling case that he has been playing Joe the whole time. He convinces Joe to vote out his closest allies and Joe thinks it’s because they betrayed him. Yeah, Shauhin was down for voting out Eva or Joe, but that was kind of a half-hearted effort. He never really went after it and sold it to anyone. But Kyle comes up with the plan to oust Shauhin and gets Kamilla to help him sell it to Joe and it works flawlessly.

I think Kamilla needs to go after Kyle next. Tell Joe and Eva that it’s been Kyle lying to them all along. Then, Joe, Eva, and Kamilla all vote Kyle and he’s left sitting in the jury box. Kamilla can then take credit for everything they’ve done. Joe sits back and acts like the godfather, but he’s been played all along. Even Eva figured out how to push his buttons. That isn’t to say that Joe isn’t a good guy. As Fred Rodgers would say, “look for the helpers” and Joe is definitely a helper. If I were trapped in a burning building, I’d want Joe coming to rescue me. But he’s not a compelling Survivor player.

My problem with that plan is that it let the power couple in play. Do you think Kyle and Kamilla could have just as easily ousted Eva? It’s hard to say, but I’m guessing they had the numbers.

My wife and I think this has been a great season with solid personalities.

That was my feeling as well, but Dalton Ross argues that Kyle forced Joe to vote out his earliest ally in front of the jury. For someone like Joe who has made a big deal about playing an honorable game (whatever the hell that means), it might have been a fatal blow. Ross also ranks this season 26th overall, that’s wayyy higher than I would rank it.

I think that if there had been a real player on the island like Sandra, Tony or Parvati, they would have eaten these chumps alive.

Salient point.

Way, way way too high.

No doubt.

I think that she was maintaining the fiction that Shaunlin had an idol and that they needed to split the votes. Joe probably told her to put a vote on Mitch and she went along with it to maintain the ruse.
