Survivor 49 - Premiered 9/24/25

Voting Sophie out seemed like a very emotionally satisfying choice for the majority of the tribe - and the jury. I’m not convinced it was the right strategic move for many of them. Time will tell.

Steven won immunity and a block-a-vote advantage. And Rizo still got him to do exactly what he wanted him to do. The kid has some supernatural powers of persuasion, even if he can’t grow even the slightest hint of a beard in 21 days.

I would have lied about what it was, but I think he concealed it well.

I think Sage just handed $1000000 to Savannah.

And what was with the folks that voted poor Javan off with their crazy insane idea he was some sort of big threat?

So far, no big moves, just everyone going with the flow more or less. hether I did it, and what I won or lost, will remain my little secret.”

It wasnt.

Everyone has been going with the flow . When it comes to Final, who can say they made a “Big Move”? So far, no one.

The “folks” are not seeing the (highly) edited show that we are seeing.

Did he win challenges or even come close? Was he super popular?

Well, how refreshing! Another great episode.

  1. Loved the challenges. However, the balance-ball challenge was basically made for Savannah to win. Again, her yoga training comes in.
  2. I fully admit I skipped over the letters-from-home segment. I really don’t care. If something happened during that time, I didn’t see it.
  3. What excellent gameplay! Great discussions, great skulduggery.
  4. I’m convinced Rizzo sneaks up to each contestant as they sleep, and whispers into their ears “Don’t vote Rizzo out… Don’t vote Rizzo out…” .
  5. Why they didn’t steal Rizzo’s idol.. Ijust… I mean.. ::sigh::
  6. Rizzo and Savannah will definitely be 1 and 2, unless an immunity contest goes awry. I can see Rizzo winning one, then giving his idol to Savannah so they both go to the finals.
  7. Unless Sage wins immunity, I’m thinking she’s out next. She’s got a better score than Kristina, so nobody would want to take her to the final 3.

Great episode. Loved Tribal Council for the first time in a while.

I didn’t get the vote at all. Right now, I don’t see a way Sage or Kristina can win. It would have been tough before, but I can’t see a way forward for them at all for them. Kristina could easily end up as the goat in the final 3 since no jury member will vote for her to win. But Sage had a chance against Stephen. She has no chance against either Rizzo or Savanah. And Sophie’s only choice should have been to steal Rizzo’s Idol. That’s the only power move the jury would have respected enough to move her above the the other 2.

Sophie mentioned Survivor 101 at tribal I think. Survivor 101 is also to break up power alliances (like Rizzo and Savanah), and to flush out idols as soon as possible. No one is doing that. I’m confused. It could just be the editing, but if no one else realizes who the power alliance is, then we are being fed with bad info, or these are just bad players.

Based just on appearance, it’s hard to tell who has an 18 in constitution (and at least a 16 in dex).

A bad episode and a snoozefest season. I agree on point 1- made for Savannah, who continues to get more camera time than everyone else put together.

The letters bore me also, along with the “Queen for a day” sob stories.

Terrible gameplay. Yes, Steve played well, but why vote him out? Instead Sophi could have stole Rizzos idol, played it on herself, and voted Rizzo out. That would have been the only big move of the season, and one of the biggest in recent season. Instead she did exactly as instructed, ensuring a win for Savannah. Sage and kristina also went along with the idea of giving the game to Savannah and then Sage being the next one voted off.

Sure, the old goat idea- bring along someone who wont get many if any votes.

Exactly.

Just bad players- “I will vote for anyone, as long as it isnt me”.

I agree with your whole post. Sophi lost herself the game by not taking Rizzo’s idol. Everyone is so afraid of becoming a target that none of them is willing to take real action. They all are limping to the end behind Savanah’s success at challenges and Rizzo and the idol that keeps on giving.

Not without getting others to go along. Everyone (other than Stephen) voted for Stephen, right? I mean, I think she could have been successful at getting Kristina and Sage to vote against Rizzo, but it wouldn’t be quite as simple as her decision at tribal.

An even better move for Sophie (if she really believed Stephen should be the target) would have been to steal Rizzo’s idol. Everyone would have probably pivoted to vote against Rizzo since he would be vulnerable. Then, after voting ended, she could have played the idol for Rizzo and saved her alliance. She would have voted for Stephen and he would go home. She would have made a big splashy move and it would appear to the jury she organized the ouster of Stphen by herself instead of just another vote for him.

Right

Well, yes. But if she had stole it that would have been a coup. And then, since she can do it before the vote, the vote would change.

She would still be where she is now- #3 in a three person alliance.

The opposite of Chekhov’s Gun is Rizo’s Idol: show it in Act I, Act II, Act III, Act IV and again in Act V but it never goes off.

I notice that they don’t fly the loved ones to Fiji any more. Probably because they always made the visit contingent on winning a challenge, so they were spending a lot of money on airfare for no purpose.

So…I wonder what the Vegas payout is to bet on anyone that isn’t Savannah or Rizo.

I think it is Savannah, who I didn’t like early on, but think is pretty nice and likable now.

I also am betting Rizo and Savannah are the two Survivor 50 returnees, now that we are late game and can kind of see things more clearly.

IMO, Sage thinks her only chance at winning the season is to be in the final 3 with Kristina and Sophie. So at the final 6, she needs either Savannah, Rizzo, or Steven out of the game. Savannah had immunity and Rizzo has the idol so the only alternative was Steven.

Just bad players- “I will vote for anyone, as long as it isnt me”.

That strategy worked for Sandra Diaz Twine……twice.

They stopped it during COVID. And now that they’re out there shorter it’s not really as big of a deal.

The show has clearly reduced its budget and CBS has seen it fit to keep renewing them. I’m happy about that even if they had to sacrifice some things from the show.

At least the shorter run means they don’t really do Exile Island and all that other stuff.

Heads up for the finale tonight. Supposedly Trump is giving an address tonight at 8 Central/9 Eastern. CBS will pause for the address and then resume Survivor when it ‘s over. Adjust your DVRs as needed.

NOOOOOOOO!!!

For those that can, watch it on Global on the Canadian side.
