A good ending – Sophi’s come-from-behind win was amazing, and it was nice to see her get a moment in the sun – but no drama. It would have been exciting if somehow Rizo and Savannah both managed to be in the final 3; but once that failed to occur, the winner of the fire making was going to be the Sole Survivor. The only surprise was that Soph got 2 votes instead of the 1 that I predicted.
Eh. Rizzo made a million-dollar mistake by not voting out Sage instead of Kristin. I don’t like Sophi’s game, and her thinking she was so involved. Savannah winning was fine, as she DID win a bunch of comps, and did scheme her way for the whole thing. And I’d love to see how long the fire-making took. I don’t think I’ve ever seen it go out twice. I really, really, REALLY didn’t care for all the emotional breakdowns and self-reveals during tribal. I just.. don’t… care.
Rizzo being in 50? Interesting. He’ll be ineffectual, as he’ll be totally star-struck.
Not really. This entire season was IMHO- one of the bottom 5 seasons.
No one made a Big Move. Sophi could have, but she- like the deluded sheep she is- followed Rizzos orders and blew it.
After Sophie decided to vote off Jawan for no good reason, and then gloated about it- Sage went nutso and stopped voting and acting rationally, and pissed off the entire jury- except Jawan. Sophi was more likeable than Savannah, so she deserved 2nd place. Why Sage decided to let Savannah win- (who Sage disliked) instead of maybe Steve- an ally- was irrational.
She was a patsy, and deluded. But since few hated her, she did get 2nd place.
They are turning Survivor into Queen for a Day, where the best Sob story wins. Of course Savannahs sob story was fake.
And the producers giving Savannah a super obvious winners edit (during the finale, before the Tribal- Savannah had a full dozen “confessionals” more than all four other players put together). made the Season even more boring. I started to throw things at the TV every time Savannah started blathering.
He did nothing in S49. If they wanted the best person for S49, Stephen would have been a better choice.
This will go down as one of the worst seasons- at least the bottom ten.
Savannah and Rizzo probably will be easy early boots in S50. They didn’t have time to pregame, unlike the other 22 players.
Is Savannah definitely in 50?
Yep and Rizo.
I knew she was “in” about 6 episodes from the end.
Ugh, this whole season has been pretty boring. No one wanted to actually do anything. I wanted anyone other than Smug Savannah to win but whatever. Her entire personally comes across as entitled mean girl.
Exactly, and her IRL story shows that on her brief stint as a journalist, she was disliked. But of the three, she did win a lot of contests so she deserved it.
As evidenced by some of her comments when it was down to the final 4. She was baffled and confused and wondered “who had her back”….sweetie, at this stage you have no allies. The other players want to beat you.
Remind me why the final 4 TC is different? Why don’t they vote off the last jury member instead of having the immunity holder picking a winner and the others go to fire-making?
You should be playing to win, not let an ally win. When it got down to six, Sage’s only real chance of winning was getting Steven, Savannah, and Rizzo out. Savannah was immune and Rizzo supposedly had to play his idol, so Steven was really the only choice.
They changed it 15 or so season ago. Without the firemaking, it’s essentially guaranteed that the best player goes home unless they win immunity. Firemaking gives them a chance.
Thanks.
The biggest surprise of the finale for me was that they voted Kristina off (terrified of her fire-making prowess). I figured they were dragging her into the Final 3 as the goat.
The meta of Survivor has shifted over the past seasons and there’s been a lot of players who won playing more a social game instead of a strategic or physical game. I think a final three of Soph, Kristina, and Rizzo where Kristina just destroys Savannah in fire might be pretty close.
Wow. I didn’t see her in the preview at all. Rizzo was easily identified, but I didn’t see her.
Well. This will be interesting.
Why wait until six? There were several shots at getting Savannah out.
I’m specifically referring to the Stephen vote. The only option there was Stephen or Sophie.
Also, there were three chances where Savannah wasn’t immune:
-
Immediately post-merge. Jawan and Sage tried to push it on Sav, but everyone else was scared Rizzo would play the idol on her, so they settled for Nate.
-
When Sophie wins immunity. Again, Jawan and Sage tried to push it on Sav, had the numbers, but then Sophie flipped and sent home Jawan.
-
Immediately following when Steven won immunity. Probably should’ve gone for Sav here, but also remember at this point, Sav and Sophie had both won two immunities. And she was pissed about the Jawan vote out.
So two out of the three times she could, she went for Savannah, but didn’t have the numbers.
And they realized at some point that the fire making competitions they had already experienced were really exciting. So they made it a permanent thing.
I love it.
Rizo was super selfish, it never would have happened.
A pointless and stupid move on Sophies part, but the rest didnt have to go along.
Yep, she abandoned strategy and her allies for revenge, which made her get only one vote at the end.
The rest didn’t go along. Sav used her extra vote. It was a total blindside.

The vote on Sophie was unanimous. Steven and Kristina voted her out too.
