Survivor 50 - All Stars

Excellent episode, really enjoyed almost all three hours. AND I didn’t fast-forward through the family visit.

  1. Fashion:
    1. Aubrey really needed a stylist. That dress did nothing for her.
    2. Tiffany had an awesome stylist. That necklace was superb.
    3. Jonathan.. Men’s Wearhouse is not for you.
    4. Rizzo - Dressed by his Albanian grandmother :).
    5. Stephanie - Definitely had a stylist.
    6. Ozzie - Definitely had a six-year-old
  2. Poor Tiffany. Losing because of one puzzle piece. But she really, really tried at camp. And I’m proud of Rizzo - “Nope, I can’t win against you, so I’m voting you off. You can’t change that”.
  3. Jonathan almost taking out the pole with one shove is an amazing visual.
  4. As soon as I saw the swirly-thing, I knew Joe had no chance. Once his left-right-left got out of count, he was gone. Jonathan’s snapping for count wouldn’t work also, as there’s unequal lengths on the pipes, so it changes incrementally each round.
  5. I begrudgingly give points to Joe for helping Rizzo. I think his dad-genes kicked in, and he just couldn’t help himself. But it was a very human moment.
  6. Thanks to my nephew in a different time zone, I was told to skip the “live” segments around the fire challenge. I’m happy that I did, as I loved the suspense. Went back and watched them - and damn, but someone’s getting fired over that.
  7. I liked the family visit.
  8. Excellent, Excellent jury. No maudlin venting, no bitter feelings, done very well. Questions were well-formed, and they followed up logically with each other. I wish we’d heard more from other people.

For the live show, I wish they’d had a complete review with the contestants. Not just small segments. I’d like to have heard from the earlier vote-offs, but I guess I can find podcasts with them.

I’m content with Aubrey as a winner. She did a lot of work.

Excellent season.

Not much to add - excellent recap. I really, really wanted Aubrey to win. She worked hard behind the scenes. I feel she deserved it. My wife and I literally jumped up and started clapping when she won the last challenge.

A couple of things I noticed. We heard Coach say he would vote for Joe if Joe admitted he lied during the season. Joe did. Coach, true to form, did not keep his word.

Rizzo is just a loser. I don’t see he’s done anything to secure his “legend” status. He had all season to learn to make fire. Pathetic really. He has no one but himself to blame. Not looking forward to seeing the Albanian representative anytime soon.

Yes. I think it means that somebody on the cast/crew blabbed, and somebody made money off it.

Was Jonathan’s brother dressed as Mario?

Yeah, but I am pretty sure Coach lies to himself. And Rizzo was simply a bad player- didnt contribute around camp, I think made fire maybe once, and never won any challeges.

This season was good, but the tribals were BORING. I think that almost every tribal had a unanimous vote (except the player being outed , of course except poor Christian who was the victim of the worst "fan’ twist in this season. ). It was nasty and unsportsmanlike to see everyone ganging up on the challenge Tiffany won- all on her own. It is supposed to be player vs player, not five players vs one. I wasnt a fan of her, but we were both cheering her on in that and the next challenge.

Sadly it seems that the 2nd place, etc prizes didnt double also.

It was obvious Joe would be 3rd, but Jonathan got a decent number of votes. I didnt like Jonathan’s hate to Ozzie from day one.

But I want to disagree with Dalton Ross here-

Talking about Cirie-

She is arguably the most popular Survivor player ever and was long overdue for her crowning glory. Everyone in America was pulling for her.

Neither of us liked her, and we were both hoping she would get voted off. Cirie played a good social game- but that’s it. She (and Rizzo) were hopeless in challenges.

I

Not the first time it’s happened and it won’t be the last unless they make a rule change. It’s just a nature of the endgame where it doesn’t matter who wins immunity, as long as it’s not someone specific.

Everyone’s entitled to their own opinions, but I hope you understand that the majority of Survivor fans don’t care if someone is bad at challenges if they’re otherwise a good player.

Outwit, outplay, outlast, and i dont remember many players winning who didnt have at least one challenge.

I remember many times one player looking at another players puzzle, and a couple times helping, but this was the first time I ever saw FIVE players all work on making sure another player didnt win- and they failed.

I disagree. I thought Cirie was out of line dunking on Joe, the obvious goat, by telling him that they were all laughing at him behind his back. Definitely not a good look for her.

Tiff was insufferable at FTC, similar to her first season.

And then there’s Stephenie and Chrissy. I couldn’t decide what word would best describe their fellating of Jonathan: cringe or gross.

She is very popular with the fans, but really isnt a nice person- from what we have seen.

I cant blame her for her anger.

12 winners without individual immunity: Tina, Sandra 1, Yul, Earl, Todd, Natalie W., Sandra 2, Tony 1, Sarah, Ben, Tommy, Maryanne

Did anyone watch the finale from the West coast Feed?

If so, was Jeff’s “Oopsie” edited for the West coast viewers?

I’m 2 hours behind in the mountain time zone and the mistake was still there, unedited.

Jeff referenced it too many times throughout the night to make it even possible to correct the mistake with editing.

Here on the Pacific Time Zone, Jeff made his oopsie and they went to commercial. When they came back he said to the camera “I love live TV” and “we gave you a little peek into the future…let’s watch Rizo lose the fire making challenge.”

Ha. I just watched the finale tonight on Paramount+ cause it doesn’t have commercials and I kept skipping through all the stupid interstitial and live interview stuff so I completely missed that Jeff gave away the loser of the fire challenge!

Yes. Yes he was

I was very happy to see Aubry win. She seems like a genuinely good person, and played a great game under the most difficult conditions of any of the final five. I was actively rooting for her during the final challenge.

It was interesting that she seemed more afraid of Rizo in the final three than Jonathan. Perhaps the players had more respect for Rizo’s game than I as a viewer did, but I didn’t see it. Kinda wish Jeff had done a “who would have voted for Rizo” poll. Guess we’ll never know.

I would really have liked to see both Tiff and Aubry in the final three, but that clearly wasn’t in the cards. It would have actually been a suspenseful vote. I really tried to like Tiff, and sometimes I did, but her anger issues worked against her, and she went out a poor sport. Kind of a shame.

I actually liked how the finale was structured, with the live “reunion” segments interspersed throughout the show rather than all lumped at the end. It helped the flow of the show, and cut down on boring filler like the “torch walk.” (Even though it was evidently too complicated for some of the production crew to cue the correct live segment. Ooops.)

Anyway, a really fun finish to a great season, IMO. I’d be up for more frequent “all-star” casts like this. It clearly elevates the level of play.

Was anyone reminded of Marie’s (Everybody Loves Raymond) vagina sculpture when they saw Cirie’s trophy?

Not just you.

I think her biggest concern was that she and Rizo played similar styled games. That can make to harder to explain why she should win and not Rizo.

Gee, I can’t wait for season 51 and the contestant who describes herself as “poop positive”.
