Survivor 50 - All Stars

In contrast, in the end credits of Top Chef the fine print says “Winning and elimination decisions were made by the judges in consultation with producers.”

Well yeah, it’s a lot different on shows where judges are determining who goes home vs other contestants. And usually the head judges are producers as well.

It’s possible they have but didn’t make the edit?

But they do, and that’s the point.

There was a whole situation during the Game Changers season where Cirie tried to use Sarah’s vote steal. Jeff was going to let it happen until another player pointed out that the advantage said it was non-transferrable. There’s a bit of a conspiracy theory that it was actually production that stopped it and then refilmed that part.

Last night’s episode was kind of depressing, with Devens and then Cirie getting voted out.

Cirie’s stash of pixie dust finally was exhausted.

Final Five is 4 players from New Era (after season 40) and one player from the old era. I would have never expected that. I think Aubrey wins if she is in the final tribal council. I cannot see the jury rewarding Rizzo, Jonathan, or Joe. Joe has no personality, the editors made Jonathan look like an ass last night with the rice situation and Rizzo is too young. I think Tiffany wins if she makes to final three w/o Aubrey.

I was very sad to see Devins go, Cirie not so much. I like her enough and she is absolutely a monster in terms of gameplay, in fact I’d go so far as to say this is the best she’s played. But she was starting to wear on me as a fan.

I agree with all of this. I can’t remember seeing a momentum shift this strong as when Ozzy stupidly laid out his plan to Aubrey. He lit a fire under her that I believe will carry her to the end. Tiffany could beat her, but I don’t think she will last. Everyone knows she’s a threat and she will be voted out. If Aubrey makes it to the end with Rizzo, Joe and Jonathon, she will win.

An OK episode.

  1. Loved the competition again. Good combination of previous events, but done very well.
  2. I was expecting more of a reaction from Cirie about Ozzy.
  3. Sorry to see Devins go, but he did make some very memorable scenes. He knew his time was up when he got back to camp. I’d have kept looking for idols, even if people were watching me.
  4. Poor Cirie. Ozzy leaving broke her game. The island division last week threw her game totally out the window.
  5. So, I’m guessing Rizzo, Joe, and Aubrey in Final 3. I just keep seeing Jonathan losing something, and Tiffany not making it.

And I disagree. if Rizzo makes it to Final 3, he’s got a great chance of winning. He’s done some very good scheming and working with other people. Nobody hates him. Joe and Aubrey have pissed people off, Jonathan lost a few friends. If Tiffany makes it to the final 3, she does have a better case than anyone else.

3 hours next week!

I’m maybe in the minority, but I would be pretty happy with a Rizzo win.

I hope they revealed the winner out there. I’m not a fan of the big live show reveal. Strangely, Australian Survivor just did their finale and indeed, they went to the big live show. Meh.

Completely agree. Can’t understand why anyone would stop looking–especially if you’re worried about the vite. You would expect that everybody else would be looking for one as well. And even if they see you find one, big deal.

Agree, I never understood following someone around while they looked for an idol.

Right, not sure why they kept saying Devens (who wasnt winning immunity challenges) was such a “big threat”. Cirie played a great game for someone who couldnt win a challenge.

That was foolish on Ozzies part fer sure. But Aubrey has nothing- no master plans, no challenges, no one really likes or dislikes her. I am not a fan of any Survivor left now. OTOH, I dont dislike any either.

They want to know if you have one. But why not look yourself?

I’ve always liked Aubrey. Quirky little thing. She might not have a master plan but she’s good thinking on her feet. IMHO, she was responsible for getting Cirie out and if she makes to the end, she will play that up. And I’ll bet Cirie votes to give her the 2 mil.

Credit where it’s due, Devens won four individual immunity challenges on his first season. (Edge of Extinction.) It’s not like a Cirie situation where winning challenges is just simply a non-starter.

She also got Rizo to turn against Ozzy. And really, she kicked off the whole situation that eventually led to Steph getting voted out.

I just watched the last two episodes back-to-back.

Oh, Ozzie. Ozzie, Ozzie, Ozzie. You knew better. And I was disappointed at what a poor sport he was.

Emily, by contrast, went down swinging, with a very smart plan that was only thwarted by someone else’s advantage that she didn’t know about. I liked Emily much better this season than I did the first time she played.

That said, I didn’t care for the tribe split. It introduced way too much randomness. The game should be in the hands of the players, not a bag of rocks.

Devens and Cirie were both the absolute correct choices in the latest episode. They would easily have been the two jury favorites if they’d gone to the end.

Which points out one of Survivor’s biggest flaws: At this point in the game, the best (and by extension, most entertaining) players are of course also the ones with the biggest targets on their backs. So, yet again, we get a finale populated by five relatively bland players, because they were smart enough to do the right thing.

To echo what someone said upthread, I don’t dislike anyone that’s left, but I don’t care that much about any of them either.

I won’t guess who will actually make the final three, but here’s my take on who has the best chance at getting the votes if they do:

  1. Tiff. She’s played a quietly brilliant game, pulled a lot of strings behind the scenes, and I think she can do a fine job of laying out her case to the jury. I went back and forth between her and Aubry, but I’m giving Tiff a slight edge because she had more allies throughout the game, which could translate to votes in the end.

  2. Aubry. She’s scrappy, great at thinking on her feet, and obviously well-liked despite not having many close allies. The jury will recognize everything she had to do to stay alive.

  3. Jonathan. Played a pretty solid game. He drove a few early votes, kept a good sense of what was going on around him, and didn’t piss anyone off. Not a master strategist by any means, though.

  4. Rizo. He’s a smart kid, didn’t make any obvious mistakes, and is good at talking people into things. But he had nowhere near as much influence in the game as he thinks he did. Definitely a long shot to convince the jury to give him two million.

  5. Joe. Being a reliable voting number for other people is the only thing that’s gotten him this far. If he’s in the final 3, he’ll make speeches about honesty and integrity, and get no votes.

It’s been a really fun season. Bring on the finale!

Contrasted by the others that came after him that were gracious and magnanimous. As I watched Ozzie watched them exit, I wonder if their graciousness was lost on him?

Quoted for truth.

Oh, my God. Did Jeff Probst actually spoil the result of the fire-making challenge by calling Rizo out and putting him as the 12th man on the jury?

Yep, he sure did. Doh!

Did the overwhelming favorite win?
