I’m sure there was plenty of “I told you so”. Probts HATES quitters (or at least MALE quitters). Despises them. And now you have a double-quitter. Like someone said above, Colton may be relegated to a footnote at this point, and might not even be invited to the reunion.
Colton actually got an exit interview on the CBS site which is rare for quitters. I will say that he used the time to make himself look even more delusional so that may be why they posted it. I suspect he may be at the reunion show if only because he’s shown himself incapable of putting forward a good face under pressure.
I’m really sad that the vote Brad out didn’t happen this week but I have high hopes for Hayden and Vytas. They’re both playing a heads down out of the spotlight game but they’ve shown signs of intelligent planning. I can see why they’d want to wait a week for this. They couldn’t talk to John without being sure of what they were doing because he could be furious enough to confront Brad and also not on board with voting Brad out due to the impact to Candice.
Brad’s little “I’m not going to vote for John” statement seriously weakened his hold on his tribe though, they’re all aware he is playing for himself and not for the team (I know they all are but some of them at least cover it up better). I predict he’s gone within the next 3 weeks.
I do hope there is some kind of shakeup soon though, the returnee’s are getting too comfortable.
Colton’s biggest mistake is in thinking that sowing discord is strategy. It’s a tactic. Knowing when to use a tactic is strategy. Having more than one tactic is strategy. And when your team is winning is not the time to use discord.
I was hoping for Brad to get booted, but getting to see John & Candace compete in duels is pretty awesome too.
My assumption is that we will continue to have three-way duels with single eliminations until the merge, at which point the final pre-merge duel will eliminate two of the three and the lone winner will rejoin the game. The ending of that final duel will be the actual merge, with everyone (both tribes and the RI winner) walking back to the final camp together.
They may then start up fresh another series of two-person RIs, but that’s how I picture this first stage going.
OK, mea culpa. I fell asleep watching last night and did not see the 2nd half.
What an ass he was. And how stupid! You’re losing challenges left and right, so you vote off probably your strongest competitor? Oh, and let me not vote for him in case he comes back so I’ll be safe. Brad doesn’t know how to play the game.
Someone in Survivor-land really likes Colton. They gave him a whole segment on the aftershow and let him go off on Jeff.
I’m kinda surprised to not see anybody here talking about Jeff’s announcement that Colton faked his appendix attack when he was on previously. Did you guys already know about that and I just missed it somehow? I’m genuinely quite surprised that the producers let him back on at all if they knew he had quit the first time.
The possibility was discussed at the time.
With Colton quitting, the schedule may be off. How great would it be if the last Redemption Island challenge allows the two remaining winners to return in the game? (booting only 1 person)
I think it could be pretty epic if Candace and John somehow both make it back and go on a tear with a streak of immunity necklaces and hidden idols.
I actually felt sorry for the guy pretending to be Colton’s beau.
He seems like a nice guy, vastly better looking, and when Colton plopped himself on his lap he looked like he wanted to throw up.
There have to be less degrading ways to get on television than pretending to be Colton Cumbie’s lover.
Is To Catch a Predator still on?*
*. Shamelessly ripped off from a friend.
I vaguely remember it being bounced around after he was medi-vac’d. I know on the TwOP boards people went nuts discussing whether or not it was faked.
It’s not surprising. It’s the adult version of throwing a tantrum, taking all your toys, and stomping home. And hey, if Colton wants the public to remember him like that, more power to him.
Aras and Vytas look like top picks to make it deep right now. They are getting really good edits.
I hate the current strategy of voting off the strongest members at the start of the game in hopes of being the last one left and making it to the merge. It just makes for a really boring middle. I hope the same team keeps winning and they don’t merge until after they are totally wiped out (or maybe one gets to come back by winning at RI)
Then again, if both teams are even when they go into the merge, then the only interesting episode is the first vote, then the sniping begins and again, it’s a boring few weeks while they PaGong the other team away. Again, maybe one survives and goes on to make a run.
While this show has been going on for 2x seasons the strategies have become a bit stale. I suppose the idea of the blood v water is supposed to make the post-merge part of the show more interesting, but if one set of loved ones are gone, it won’t really make much of a difference.
The difference here, though, is that the merge won’t automatically preserve the tribes’ allegiances to themselves. Or so the producers hope.
But yeah, it’s s stupid strategy to keep voting out the people who will most likely help you win the next challenge.
I’m not so sure that the vote outs (Candace, Laura Boneham, Marissa, Rachel, and John) actually reflect the “vote out the challenge threats” strategy.
Well excluding the first 2, I would counter that both Marissa and John are strong (muscled) players, but I’ll agree that neither was voted out for ‘being’ strong but rather some strategic purpose. However I don’t see this group winning a challenge without some help.
The less we talk about him, the sooner he’ll go away forever.
Candice is doing great in Redemption Island but now has to compete against her hubby! =0
Well, that was interesting. I think Coltan’s fiancé is someone to watch.
Unless the guy who flipped the tribe inherits the target. This season desperately in need of a tribal reshuffle, but they usually tease those pretty clearly in the “Next Time! On Survivor!” bit and there was no sign of one.
Caleb is too good for Colton. He can do much better.
Problem with a reshuffle is people who end up with loved ones will have a huge advantage.
I hope Candace and John last together for a while on redemption beach. Nice paid for honeymoon.
