What if it’s the same serpent tree and there’s a single HII for both tribes? I think in the really early seasons, they had the tribes on different islands. But they stopped doing that at some point. There’s even a recent season where the tribes came across each other and someone spent time hanging out at the other camp.
So it’s not much of a stretch to think they could be sharing the water source and there’s once serpentine tree on the way there.
It was supposed to be an alliance of the ones with loved ones still in the game. Laura and her daughter Ciera flipped. The way I read it was that Tina assumed that Aras was out of the game, since Jeff did not say “first member of the jury” when he left. He didn’t say anything about Redemption Island either, but that is most definitely where Aras went. So Tina assumes that she and her daughter, Laura and Ciera, and Vytas are the five votes.
Congratulations John, your reward for lasting this long on Redemption Island is a duel you have absolutely no chance of winning. Thanks producers.
Surprised that Tina would be so blithe about saying that Monica would be their “fifth place” alliance mate right in front of her. Not that Tina’s ever been the sharpest Survivor player, but c’mon, you’ve played the game twice now.
I still think that the remaining couples should’ve banded together 6-5 and voted out someone like Tyson or Gervaise. The two mom-daughter teams then could’ve banded together to try and take down Aras/Vytas (of course it’s possible one of them would get through simply on immunities, but still). Aras/Vytas were definitely good threats to target, but I’m not sure how throwing in with Tyson and company helps get you ahead.
My guess it that Tyson says something horribly misogynistic and Tina gets offended and tells him he just lost 5 jury votes - all of the women’s.
I agree! It was pre-determined that Laura M was going to win that challenge. It really sucks. I was hoping John would come back in and win it all. And I’m not just saying that because he’s hunky.
Let’s see if I got this straight:
Vytas: Laura
Aras: Laura
Tina: Ciera
Katie: Ciera
Everyone else: Aras
Is that right?
Looks like the “Women’s alliance + Vytas” lasted all of 20 seconds. Gosh, I bet Tina wishes she’d have voted off Monica instead of Laura B.
It was nice to see the smug look stricken off of Vytas’ face. I tried to like him, but I’ve come to realize that he’s not a nice guy.
It was obvious to me, strategically speaking, that the individuals were going to try and oust one of the couples now, before it was too late. You let a strong twosome get too far and it’s nearly impossible to break them up. Call it the Boston Rob/Ambah lesson. (Don’t know why Aras didn’t think of that.) I’m going to guess that it’s either Katie or Tina next.
Tyson rocks for being the only player (that we see) motivated to look for the damn HII! Hayden was an idiot for blabbing the clues to Tyson, although it may work in his favor if Tyson keeps him in his alliance. Tyson is one of the few people who brings a bit of levity to the show.
Glad that Tina and Katie finally got a comeuppance after they turned on Ciera and Laura. Did they really believe that Laura M would trust them again after Tina voted her out?
I hate Monica and her plastic boobs and plastic face. I liked her the last time she was on, but now I find her to be annoying, cut throat, and fake. Maybe it’s her association with her asshole husband.
It would really suck to be a 20-year old on Survivor whose mother is way more attractive than you are.
I don’t even understand why the brothers were so confident they were in control. They just seemed to have a “we rock and we’re calling the shots” vibe, without any evidence to back it up. Seriously, why wouldn’t everyone come after one of them? Challenge threats, loved-one threat, all of that paints a huge target on them.
I’m going to guess Laura M, because she keeps flapping her mouth causing her daughter to stand out as a target, and the editors have highlighted this issue (which could well be a red herring, but what the hell). Ciera might even vote for her ousting.
Yup. My SO and I have been asking the TV for a couple or so weeks now, “why is nobody looking for the idol?!?” Good for him.
Concur, she’s “facelift lady” at our house. Failed queen bee.
Have they ever shown us before when a player has looked for it but hasn’t found it? I remember a few instances where a whole group was looking and only one person found it, but I struggle to remember if they’ve ever shown someone looking for it (except for maybe when they failed and then tried the “fake HII” strategy). I just can’t believe that the players would be so lazy/forgetful as to not just go looking for it.
Maybe one season they can show us a fun montage of everyone else looking for it and failing miserably.
In addition to Malcolm last season, I’m pretty sure that every instance of someone crafting a fake idol also included scenes of them searching for the real one and failing.
Eliza is Jury Gold. Her eye rolls are worth the price of admission.
Why does everyone assume that if they don’t air something, it didn’t happen on the island.
The editors have to compress 48-72 hours of time into 40 minutes of airtime per week. Obviously a lot of film is left on the cutting room floor. Boring stuff like searching for an idol, and failing to find an idol is going to part of the film on the floor.
It’s possible that players have spent 9 hours a day looking for it. But given that every clue except the first 2 have been burned, and only a few players know those clues, it’s also quite possible that no one else is looking for it.
Bit surprised no one bumped this yet for this week’s episode.
Well, not really surprised. Pretty ho-hum. Two predictable Tribal Councils. Challenges were a bit interesting from the “anyone can win” angle but lacked much excitement when you know there’s three people who are going home, and only two immunities.
I didn’t see Tina’s blindside coming, to tell you the truth. I thought about it when Gervase was talking up Monica, but the moment Tina flapped her mouth at TC, I knew she was done.
I’ll agree with ho-hum. I could have skipped watching this episode like I skipped last week’s.
No RI Duel, two very non-athletic Immunity Challenges. And I fast-forwarded through the Disgusting Food Challenge. So yeah, it didn’t take long to watch this episode.
A great example of this is the gross eating challenge this week. The challenge preview performed by the dream team included a cow eyeball round that was particularly gross - check out the girl furthest from the camera and the eyeball juice squirting out. Editing removed all references to it from the episode and all the interviews with the players but Hayden tweeted last night that he was still in for the cow eyeballs. Tweet gone by this morning BTW, never annoy the survivor gods.
When is the contestant with immunity asked if he/she wants to give up her immunity to someone else. Before or after the casting of ballots? If it’s after, then Katie could have given up her immunity to her mother, which would have sent Monica home.
So once the tribes merged, they got rid of the other team’s HII?
Vytas is coming across as the younger, bitter brother.
Tyson is once again the only person who is remotely amusing.
So I guess that leaves Laura and Ciera as the only “blood” players left in the game, right?
Bold prediction: Caleb will win. He is flying under the radar. He’s not a big threat to anyone. And he’s not about to put a target on his back by making a bold move.
Regular immunity can be transferred before voting, not after. Since no one would vote for the person with the necklace, it would give that person too much power. It’s the Hidden idol that can be used after voting.
