You are usually one on my favorite posters with eloquent explanations of why. Tonight it does not matter and you just leapt a notch or two (like it matters) on my list of “Posters I’d Like to Share a Meal With.”
Toad
Todd won.   with 4 votes.
Courtney  <---- an actual picture! placed second and Amanda got one.
Go figure…sigh…thanks brownie55.
I’m amazed by how much I’m liking Courtney right now, the editing of the show made her look more bitchy than she is showing on the reunion show. I think JR wants to punch Todd in the back of the head.
Does anyone know where they are going for the next show?
Dude, the rolleyes is the perfect Courtney picture. Thing is, IMHO she won tonight. Her answers were far better than Toad or Amanda’s
Oh, and I guess they finally broke the curse of the car reward challenge… by not having a car reward challenge!!
And yeah, as I have been saying for a while, Courtney sure grew on me and I was seriously thinking she’d pull it off tonight.
Thanks, but I’m a she-cat.
As soon as I heard that Courtney was a waitress at The Coffee Shop, I knew pretty much all I needed to know about her. Yet I could listen to her all night and would love to share a mojito or six.
They’re going to Micronesia next season. And they’re going to have a season of diehard fans vs. previous Survivor favorites. Can anyone say Rupert v. III? And, even worse from a personal standpoint, since they’re going to Micronesia and Papa Tiger lived on Guam for 11 years and has been to every island in Micronesia, I am going to be in for an entire season of, “I’ve been there! Oh, and I’ve been there, too! Isn’t it pretty? You should see it in person!” (Palau was that way, too, alas. )
That really sucked about Denise’s job, though. Can you please go to the food service director’s office and whap him upside the head, JustAnotherGeek**? Jeez louise!
What’s the rule in the event of a tie? Would Courtney and Todd split the million?
I don’t get the hate for Todd. He played the game from the very beginning and was the only one of the final four who actually deserved to win.
Every season some people (myself included in some seasons, I’ll admit) have trouble distinguishing between “this contestant played the game the best” and “I really like this contestant”, and are disappointed when the jury’s criteria for voting a win differ from theirs. I’ve done this, so I’m not snarking on anyone. I was kind of hoping for a PG or Denise win, myself, so I’m sort of disappointed in this season, too. But…I’m not on the jury. I cast no votes. I have no say. And most important, I have a VERY limited view of what happened in the 39 days of this game, since I wasn’t there, and the jury people WERE. So I’ll trust their judgment.
Oh, and I tend to have an extreme case of both “underdog-love” and “pretty-people hate” when it comes to reality TV. Which biases my judgment immensely…
Well, if Denise had made it to the final three, I would have been OK with her winning, I thought she was pretty cool. But ever since the first episode I liked Todd and wanted him to win. I dunno. He comes across to me as a nice guy who was just playing a game where you had to lie & manipulate people to get ahead, rather than actually being an unlikeable person, like for example Jean-Robert. (Has there ever been a player more skeevy and gross? I love how even at the final tribal council it was Jean-Robert who came across as the fool. The editors must have had a field day, what with showing how he couldn’t even get the cap off the pen.)
Man, I thought Amanda had it sewn up.
Yep, that seems like exactly what happened. During the final TC, Amanda looked just absolutely miserable, like she’d rather be anyplace else than having a 1/3 shot at a million. She shrank and made herself small, didn’t defend her positions well, while Todd stood up for himself and even shut J-R up.
I also agree with your other comment, jayjay – it’s difficult to separate what you as a TV watcher have been shown about people, vs what the Jury knows and what they think about the other players. This was obviously one of those times.
And I could swear I heard Amanda tell Lunch Lady: “I’m not going to write down your name tonight”. Is it just me?
Nope, she definitely said that. I thought it meant she would vote for Courtney, which would have been a smart move, making the votes 2 for Denise, 1 for Todd and 1 for Courtney. That way Denise would still be voted off but not by Amanda. Not that it would have made a difference to the final vote, but I don’t know why Amanda didn’t do that and at least guarantee herself Denise’s vote.
And Amanda even tried to snow Denise just before the vote that evicted Denise that she had not said she would look after her. Good god, that was stupid.
First, I find out Santa isn’t real, not I find out Hot Amanda isn’t hot in real life. I’m so disillusioned.
This season wasn’t bad, but not great either. Above average and worth watching is about the best I can say about it. In retrospect, Courtney was easily the most fun to watch all season, though looking at Amanda never hurt anyone.
But my god that was the greatest goddamn reunion show EVER. Jeff really went for the jugular. So much to love about it:[ul][li]Courtney giving Jeff the finger when he brought up her quote: “This isn’t welfare; she shouldn’t get handed a million dollars because she sucks at life.” (Greatest quote ever, btw.)[/li][li]Asking Eric, now that he and Jaime are dating, if he’s still a virgin. That friggin’ dumbass admitted he was a virgin on national tv twice. Hey Eric, there is no rule in Survivor that says you have to answer honestly at the reunion show. Just play coy you idiot, or outright lie: “I said that on the show as a strategic ploy, but looking back I’m not even sure what my thinking was.”[/li][li]Denise’s remarkably heinous sob story. No surprise that Mark Burnett floated her a pity 50 g’s. Warm and fuzzies all around.[/li][li]Courtney talking about being recognized mostly by kids. “Do you like that? I mean, do you like kids?” “No, I hate kids.” That’s fucking funny as shit. (Says the guy who also hates kids.)[/ul]Much like Parvati last season, I was just happy that the resident brunette hottie made it to the final week. That she won the final immunity was gravy, but I agree she completely broke down after the final four TC. Pity that, but oh well. At least she got one vote in the end.[/li]
I disliked Todd all season, but he totally earned his win in the final council. I loved his responses to JR as much as the jury did. I thought Courtney really sold herself well too, especially her last comment. Something about being a little girl. I forget what she actually said, but the moment she said it I switched my rooting interest from Amanda to her.
I’m one of the precious few longtime posters on these boards who does not share these biases. Hell, I might be the only one. It really does get annoying at times, and not just in Survivor threads but on the boards in general, so I tend to get ornery. But I appreciate that you acknowledge your bias.
Todd looked like Sonic The Hedgehog.
