No, rafe said he wouldn’t vote for her for the next two votes, so that’s final three, if he keeps his word.
Do note that Danni made no such promise.
If Rafe takes Danni to the final vote, he’s a moron, because she just fought her way from a minority merge to final two. That’s worth a few sympathy votes right there…
Man, do I hate Danni. This season did teach me something about myself…I’m prejudiced against skinny people. I need to work on that.
Like somebody else said, Steph’s crying after her win should have been touching. It wasn’t. When that happened I said “puh-leeeze.”
Anyway, I disagree with the conventional wisdom. I think you want to take Steph to the final two. I think the only chance she’s got at the money is vs. Lydia. Then Steph gets points for being a competitor while Lydia would (should?) be penalized for flying under the radar.
I can’t stand Lydia. I hate these people who suck all game, but just because they suck they get to keep going on. I hope she goes next, but I don’t think she will, unless steph wins Immunity. I see Rafe and Danni sticking together. Danni is more then willing to let a guy do all the dirty work (see Gary), and reap the benefits. For why this works see above. I hope the final 2 is Danni and Rafe, don’t care which of these 2 win, but I think it will be Danni.
I think that, if the final two are Rafe and Danni, Danni will win…if only because I can’t see Bobby Jon, Jamie, and Judd voting to give a million dollars to the self-proclaimed “little gay Mormon boy”, who whipped their macho asses.
If the car curse really did exist, wouldn’t Cindy have guaranteed herself the million bucks by giving the cars away? Each of the others would have won a car, and, in turn, become victims of the curse!
Between a blizzard and a lot of work, I don’t have time to read the whole thread right now, but I just wanted to say that my co-watcher has come to the conclusion that Lydia is a magical sprite-woman and that’s why her hair is so perfect.
I would buy this, except: Rob and Amber. Rob won the car on All-Stars, plus a big hot date, and when they arrived for the date, it was announced that Amber would also be given a car. As Probst pointed out at the All-Stars Finale, Amber did not actually win her car, but was given one, and thus the curse-circle was still unbroken. I imagine the same thing might sort of apply here. It’s not the car itself that is cursed, but the winning of it that is.
That makes as much damn sense as anything else that has ever happened in the history of this show, sadly.
I would have given up the car. I already have a car that works perfectly well. Plus a classic in restoration that will be as new when it’s done, and another classic that just needs paint and upholstery. I don’t need a car. Giving up the reward would have ensured Cindy a spot in the Final Four.
But she either didn’t have a car, or else she has never had a new car. I can understand why she chose to keep it. I think she made a poor strategic decision, but I understand why she did.
Steph, Lydia or Danni will be voted out next week. Which one will it be? There is a reason to take Lydia to the Final Two. She’s skated by all season. Any of the others would be able to point that out and claim they deserve to win because the played the game instead of just being a patsy. On the other hand, Lydia hasn’t pissed anyone off. At least not very much. But I think that the jury would support a competitor over Lydia.
To get to the Final Two, Lydia must first get through the Final Three. I don’t think she has the stamina to last an endurance challenge, which the last IC is. Whoever wins the final IC will be able to vote her out easily.
Rafe, Danni and Steph have all said that they have to get rid of the threats. Lydia isn’t a threat. They might fear Lydia’s niceness in front of the Jury though, and vote her out. They might feel that the million should go to someone who actually competed. There’s a chance Lydia will be voted out.
Rafe is playing the game. But he also has a sense of fairness. Would he vote Lydia out because he feels that the other competitors deserve the chance more? Maybe. But he is playing the game. He may keep her just to remove a stronger threat.
Here’s what I think will happen: Rafe and Danni have a fairly strong alliance now. They know that Steph is a strong competitor who showed her strength on the earlier season. If they keep Steph, they risk not winning Immunity in the Final Three IC. So I think Steph will go in the next IC. Lydia will lose the final IC. Rafe and Danni will face the jury.
But Steph might still be able to convince Lydia to vote with her. If she can convince Danni that Rafe has an excellent chance of winning immunity in the final IC, they might vote him out. But I think that Rafe and Danni are so tight right now that this won’t fly. I think Steph is going.
I would have given up the car. Unless it is against a rule that I didn’t hear, I would have made one of the following two announcements:
[ul]
[li]Four cars are better than one, so you guys can have them but it would be nice if you could draw straws to decide who gives one back to me, or, better[/li][li]You guys can have the cars. If I win the million, I can buy myself one. If one of you wins the million, I hope you will decide you don’t need a car as well and I will be happy to take it off your hands.[/li][/ul]
What she actually did seemed like a guaranteed way not to win the million.
The problem, as I see it is this: Giving away the cars won’t guarantee that people look on you favorably. BUT, keeping the car earns animosity.
Therefore, here’s my play in Cindy’s spot:
“OK, Jeff, lemme make you a deal. I want the car. But I’m willing to give up my spot at the barbecue if you let all four of the others go get some chow. Whaddaya say?”
Jeff’s been willing to wheel and deal before, and clearly has the authority. I think it would appease the other players pretty well.
They aren’t allowed to share the million, and they wouldn’t be allowed to give each other a car, either. Survivor is pretty hardcore about discouraging collusion. (Making Boston Rob the greatest player ever, of course.)
Cindy had to take the car, period. Sure, you won the car, you can’t win the million because of the “at least you won a car” curse, but the remedy for that is to throw the challenge.
If you do the swap, and then get voted out, you become the biggest loser in game show history. That is an unacceptable possibility. You have to keep the car.
Not blathering on about it when you get back to camp would’ve probably been a better idea, though.
I’m sure there’s a no sharing rule they’ve signed. I know there’s stuff like that regarding the money prizes (Didn’t Colby get in trouble when Tina bought him a motercycle?)
As for the “Car Curse”, Amber won All-Stars after getting a car. But they avoid the curse by saying she didn’t win the car, but was given one by the virtue of being the person taken along (by Rob).
Well, doesn’t that apply here as well? If Cindy gives them all cars, they didn’t win it either, she gave it to them. Therefore no one won the car, and no one is invoking the curse.
