Survivor: Nicaragua Finale December 19 2010(spoilers as it airs)

Did they say where the next season would be?

No, but it’s in Nicaragua again. In fact, it was shot this fall, right after Season 21 in the same places. CBS is hurtin’ for money.

Why?

What I’m curious about is how they handle it - do they announce to those still playing who’s currently on the island? How do they handle the jury for someone who makes it from Day 3 on Redemption Island to Day 27? They won’t know who anyone is.

Everyone online is saying that Shannon took the opportunity to prove that his homophobic assitude at the tribal that he was voted out in wasn’t a trick of editing. What did Shannon say?

Jane makes $50,000?!?! I thought she was dirt poor.

Basically saying that Sash walked like a duck, quacked like a duck, etc., so he called him a duck.

I knew I forgot another snubbed player. I am not even sure if Jill showed up on camera on the stage.

Some immediate thoughts:

Dan is a surprisingly bitter creep for a man who did absolutely nothing.

Naonka is as delusional as ever.

Jane is unpleasant and ugly even for someone her age. Her accent grates.

Holly looked very pretty with that hairstyle.

I really didn’t need to hear Chase sing.

Fabio is cute and deserved to win but I’m not sure the goofball act isn’t an act.

Next season sounds incredibly dumb.

Wasn’t there a season with a Ghost Tribe? Didn’t that involve people who’d been voted out having a chance to get back in?

Yep, on Pearl Islands all the people who had been voted out came back to compete against the other two tribes, and if they won somebody went back to each tribe. It sucked.

If the concept has already been used on the Israeli version, how well did it work there?

Me too! Whew!

Yes, the loser tribe came back and got to compete for a chance of getting one of them back on. They got that Scout lady(I think) on and she came in third or so.

For the record, Probst has written about how that “Loser” tribe was his least favorite idea because it betrayed the basic premise of the show. I am guessing he is against this one, too, but won’t say anything until it is over.

Maybe I’m wrong about Probst. Here is what he said.

From here.

I theorize that they’re staying away from the Pacific islands because the Pacific has been very volatile lately – lots of earthquakes and tsunami warnings.

I was glad that Fabio won. When Naonka asked him if his mother gave him strength, and he started tearing up, I thought to myself, “Naonka just handed him a check for a million bucks.” It was genuine emotion and resonated with me. I hope the million bucks doesn’t screw him up entirely.

I missed Jane at Tribal Council. Hope she didn’t act bitter like she did during her final day at the camp.

I’m glad that Sash didn’t win. He’s probably more likeable in person, but on the show he sure had his fair share of “I’m in control of the game” comments to make me not like him. I’m surprised he didn’t receive one vote, not even from Brenda.

Once again, they should spend more time at the reunion show and less on the final days on the island. I mean, Jill didn’t get any airtime and Chase got to sing and play guitar. Then they gave all the airtime to Boston Rob & Amber’s baby. I like Rob okay, but honestly didnt’ need to hear that Amber delivered without drugs. Who cares (aside from Rob & Amber)?

That was exactly my thought too :nodding:

I hope he’s smarter IRL than his Survivor persona. I hope he’s thought long and hard about the $ and has an advisor or an accountant or someone to help him manage it.

As for next season’s twist, bring it on. It should be interesting. Bringing people back into the game always adds another dimension.

What was it that happened on Pearl Island that made the bringing back twist fall on its face? I’m fairly new at Survivor, so there’s a lot of backstory I don’t know.

She did. First she told Sash that he’s nothing but a New York sewer rat. Then she told Chase that he’s still her North Carolina buddy, even though he’s a horrible person. Then she said something to Fabio that I don’t remember, but didn’t say anything bad about him. Didn’t ask a single question, just made speeches.

For one thing, it ended up inserting Lil (the Boy Scout lady) back into the game. The idea that Lil deserved to come back over Andrew Savage, who was kind of a tool but who still managed to enjoy the game even though he was the leader of the (up to that time) losingest tribe in Survivor history, left a bad taste. The only worse possible returner would have been Osten.

ETA: I’m wrong about one thing…Savage was still in the game at that point. Still…Lil was not a fan favorite. That had a lot to do with it.

Well…maybe.

Jeff basically said that they were reserving *the right *to toss them. Technically, this is something the producers really could do any time they want since they claim the right to modify the rules at any time and for any reason.

I got the feeling that, if they thought it would increase ratings, they’d just roll them into the jury.

I would think they want a jury with a number that leads to the remotest chance of a “tie”.

If the finale is with two players, chances are TPTB will want an odd number on the jury.

So far, TPTB have dodged a bullet with three player Tribal Council. If one of Fabio’s vote went to Sash, it would have been a 4-4-1 tie last night. Of all the things that I have read about Survivor, I still do not know how they would resolve a 4-4-1 tie, or a 3-3-3 tie.

Me too, but I think the RW/RR Challenge is the awesomest show in awesome-town so I’m psyched.
