From Probst’s Tweets in the past, he has explained that for anything physical like that, they do pause and show a “show employee” demonstrate the proper form/position for a thing like that. I am assuming they did this for this as well, but she didn’t do it right.
I think you guys are being too hard on the jumpers. Just because you get instruction doesn’t mean your adrenalin or fear or whatever isn’t going to get the best of you.
I am bummed that the challenge was interrupted as it did seem like a good balance (pun intended) by what men might be good at and what women might be good at. I hope they keep it that way.
And the same girl caught both chickens? Chickens or not, she’s the best looking of the bunch if you ask me.
It raises another issue though – couldn’t she have kept it for a while to see how things were shaking out on the other team? Maybe the gay guy wasn’t the best person to give it to.
Maybe? Maybe? That idol could have been invaluable at shaking up the Testosterone Twits. Just toss it to one of the interchangeable frat boys with witnesses present and let the sparks fly. Giving it to who she did was stupid.
There was a time limit on the transfer. It had to be done before the next Tribal Council, so she couldn’t just pocket it for a few weeks.
Okay, I missed the time limit. I was thinking she could wait to see how that tribe started shaking out.
There were a bunch of posts in the season preview thread about last night’s episode. I merged them into this thread – since everything appears in date stamp order, the continuity of this thread might be a little funky now.
twickster, not just a Survivor fan but a mod
I wouldn’t go that far, but he certainly is not helping.
There were several posts about specific reactions to the season premiere – I moved them to the thread about this week’s episode.
Hey – no Redemption Island! Woo hoo!
The cynical me wonders how many times Jeff actually instructed them on the proper way to jump into the net and if a few of those shouted admonitions were added in post production.
And no Returnees!
And (apparently) no Hantzes!!!
Having trouble sorting out the mob, but I agree cocky sexist pig lawyer must die.
Did Sabrina actually get anything in return for the idol? Or did she just give it away, because Flaming Gay Guy is just so darn cute 'n funny?
There’ve been injuries before, but I don’t think there’s ever been one that stopped a challenge.
There has. Several seasons back a guy passed out during a challenge. They said it was very scary and he nearly died, but I’m not sure whether they played up the seriousness for TV or not.
They stopped one (temporarily) a few season ago, Survivor Samoa (Russell’s first season) when they were playing some challenge that combined rugby and mud wrestling and basketball.
From wiki:
I stand corrected (and apparently suffer from short term memory loss. : )
Ironically, as Probst was outlining the challenge, I was thinking that this was the least-demanding physical challenge I’d seen in a long time. Fall into net…walk across bridge. BFD.
Me too. When he said the part about raising the flag, I felt like I must have zoned out and missed part of the description.
Probst, note to self: Make nets more springy next time.
I do agree that it was stoooooopid to give the idol away so quickly. No telling if Gay Guy is being straight up (pun intended) with the ladies. At least wait until they lose an IC! However, I can see this as breaking up the Frat Patrol as soon as they do lose one.
Yeah, the other Russell that year. We called him(I think) “Black Russell” or “Dreads Russell”. The other one we called either “Evil Russell” or “Hantz”.
I know the threads have been merged, so I’ll restate.
She had to give it to a guy. It was in the rules. Choosing “fabulous” Colton was, to her, probably the closest thing she could think of to keeping it.
Unrelated question since I don’t watch the show but figured you who do might know.
Any idea what the time gap is between learning you’ve been selected for the show and actually departing for the exotic locale is? Saw the standard “why don’t they ever learn to make fire before leaving home” question and wonder if part of it might be a very short window between “i sent a video in on a lark” and “oh crap, is that giant bug poisonous?”
Yes, I know. Was there a time limit for giving it away?
