I have to agree about this being a season of jerks. Mike is the one who started the rumor that Will hid some food, but Shirin took, the heat. Dan is like a more abrasive Cliff Claven and Rodney is a whiny, sexist d-bag.
Indeed. During his whining, I said “What is he, ten?” then had to turn to my ten year old daughter and apologize.
His whole “I’m not going to pressure anyone”, then immediately started pressuring them shtick was pretty funny though. Almost as funny as his brilliant plan to tell everyone to vote him out so Mike wouldn’t use the HII.
Even worse, he probably isn’t even embarrassed about his behavior. He’s a whiny little bitch who thinks he’s the coolest kid on the block. He’s not even smart enough that, if he makes it to the end, to claim that his whole persona was just an act to get others to want to take him to the final.
Everyone should be reading Dalton Ross’ recap every week anyway, but the description of his worst birthday and how it compares to Rodney’s is hilarious:
Well that’s it for me. As I mentioned before, I have worked with Tyler’s Dad for the last nine plus years and now that T is out, I’m not interested anymore.
As the entertainment press has been saying, Tyler does seem kind of drone like but he really is a very cool kid and I think that that comes across as well. He has a lot of his dad’s mannerisms and facial expressions which was amusing as hell for me. He doesn’t seem to have his dad’s hilarious dry sense of humor which is a shame. Maybe he does but it didn’t make the edits.
I didn’t know how long T would last other than suspecting that he would make it deep into the game. As I am sure that you know, producers meet with each contentent every day and that’s when they film the confessionals. While they can’t give them explicit information (“Carolyn isn’t the friend that you think she is”), they do try to prod them to make for better tv. At first they kept trying to tell him that he needed to juice up his game. He told them that it was his purposeful strategy to be the mellow quiet dude. Their counter to that was that he may win with that strategy but that he wouldn’t be “memorable.”
I hope that the experience was a good one for him and that whatever noteriety comes from being on the show doens’t fuck up his life in any way.
Again, I haven’t watched the show much except for parts of some of the earliest seasons. I don’t get the hate for Mike. He’s funny as hell, great at the challanges and always seems to be a step ahead of everyone else strategywise. He pretty much always perfectly calls what is going to happen at every TC. Isn’t that the ultimate player?
Anyone notice the karma in the episode.
Joe and Tyler (among others) go on a reward challenge. Joe gets the HII clue, and Tyler sees him snag the clue.
Joe knows that Tyler saw the him get the clue.
Joe shows Tyler the clue,.
Tyler tattles to Mike
Mike finds the HII
Mike plays the HII and Tyler goes home.
BTW, Rodney… Your team probably lost the RC because you fucking left the keys on the wrong side of the walk-thru. You. You were very likely the reason your team lost. So don’t bitch about not going on reward challenges. Man up and win some fucking challenges. Why is it that your team never wins? What’s the common denominator, shit-head?
Yes, and it’s odd Dalton Ross didnt mention that.
Wow, John Mace, never read you get so worked up! If you really want an anti-treat go to YouTube where there is a secret scene basically turning Rodney’s volume up to 11. For him to say, “I’m not gonna pressure anyone,” I don’t know if I’ve ever seen a worse case of a lack of self-awareness.
Note: Major Spoiler on the CBS website, so major IMHO I’m really surprised the network chose to do it:
Mike lobbies for the opportunity to be not he next Survivor season, which is comprised of contestants who deserve another chance. Mike said he’s learned more and would have a better chance of winning. (Carolyn is also on the women’s ballot, but I did not see her video.) This strongly implies he didn’t win and therefore did not make the Final Tribal Council, even though he is still alive in the game. It seems unlikely the show would make an exception for Mike and merely be trying to trick us. Perhaps they are under deadline to get a cast together and start shooting. But still.
This season has quickly become pretty awful after what I thought was a good start with interesting contestants. With the exception of Mike, everyone on the chopping block in recent weeks has pretty much stood pat until their number is up (possible exception: Shirin, whom I’m growing to hate from her endless whine at the Ponderosa). And those that remain seem just as content to do the same.
I think Tyler really crapped the bed in not getting some strategy going for a blindside. Consider what Tyler had at his disposal:
– a hungry Mike that would have gone for it;
– Dan has, at very least, an inkling that he’s low man on the totem pole and has two votes (and Tyler knows it);
– Tyler knows that Carolyn has an immunity idol. He could have used that knowledge in all sorts of ways.
With some smart maneuvering – and Tyler seemed like a pretty smart dude – he could have orchestrated a blindside on Rodney that really would have made for a worthy birthday present. Is Rodney so hated that they are giving him red carpet to the Final 3 (assuming it’s 3) because nobody thinks he will get any votes? If so, that sucks, but that seams t be the case. Either way, that’s weak sauce, Tyler. Were the blinders you were wearing really so dark that you thought you were safe?
Oh, I’m just making fun of Muscle Meathead. I’m not worked up about it, but he is, maybe, too easy a target. I’m not even sure I believe him when he said it was his birthday.
Could you please ask him why he outed Joe’s idol clue to Mike?
Per an interview with JP, Mike and Carolyn are on that new show if they don’t win this one. If one of them gets voted in and ends up winning, the eleventh vote getter will get their spot. I think that it more indicates that Mike and Carolyn are the final two. It’ll set up a little drama where the loser gets to try again.
Just saw Tyler’s Ponderosa video. Well it should have been Tyler’s Ponderosa but Shirin was in about half of it, playing the victim card.
I guess we are going to have a “very special segment” on child abuse during the reunion show
Okay, that makes some sense, but:
Well, hmm, so now we know they made it to the Finals? If every bit of the show has already taken place with the exception of the FTC vote/reunion, they’re either gonna win it or come in 2nd/3rd – is that we are to interpret?
All we know is that they made it through the episode we just watched. If either is voted out next week, then that person is eligible for next season. If either of them wins the game, they are ineligible for the next season. I believe the cast announcement is made at the reunion show, so if Mike (for example) wins Survivor, but also got enough votes to be on next season, Jeff would announce Mike is not eligible for the season and announce the contestant who won the 11th most votes.
To spare me from watching any more of Shirin than I need to … does she go into much detail about her family/childhood, more than she did at her last Tribal Council?
Because she kept saying that she was “verbally abused”. I hope this doesn’t come across as completely insensitive, but I wonder where the line is between “verbal abuse” and “being yelled at”.
If you don’t want to watch Shirin, don’t watch Tyler’s Ponderosa video because she makes a lot more than a cameo appearance.
She basically offers to coach Tyler life lessons, to tell him what he is doing wrong and how he can correct it.
She “verbally abused” Will- then got all huffy as he retaliated. Then she played the “abuse card”. Mind you, yes, abuse (even verbal) is a horrible thing to happen, but you can’t attack then hold that up to protect you.
+1… and I suspect many more.
Can you provide a link to this, because I can’t find it.
