They’ve had this issue in the past, but the contestants were always able to get, if you’ll excuse the term, past it. You would think of all the things the contestants study that the health issues from rewards would be on the list.
That’s all true, but put most starving people in front of an unlimited pile of food, and they’re going to eat all they can. Resisting at that point is extremely difficult.
What in the Heck was that? Did Spy vs Spy procreate (from Mad Magazine) and the offspring just appear on the reunion?
You mean Sia? She’s an Australian recording artist whose trademark is that fringe wig.
Great season but [spoiler ahead]…
Aubrey was robbed!

Agreed, great season, up to and including the end.
Going into the final TC I thought Aubrey had it in the bag. After the comments from the jurors I felt it was 50/50 between Michele and Aubrey (Tai obviously had no chance). Looking at places like reddit, most of the comments agree with White SIFL that “Aubrey got robbed.” While I think she played the stronger overall game, it seems that Michele played the stronger social game, at least for the final jurors… her five votes were Julia, Nick, Jason, Scot and Cydney. Julia and Nick were two of her buds from the beginning of the game, so pretty clear they would stick with her. Jason and Scot… wouldn’t surprise me if they didn’t exchange all of ten words with Aubrey the whole time they were there. One might think for all their talk of gamesmanship that they would see Aubrey as the stronger competitor and vote along those lines, but it seemed to me they didn’t really like her that much and give her much thought. Cydney, I admit, I thought would go for Aubrey, but I think Aubrey cost her that vote when she turned on her at the Final 4 (and didn’t give a good reason why).
The after show was awful. Cydney finishes in the top 4 and only goes to the jury because of a fire-making challenge, and instead we waste all that time on the stupid Sia crap and a commercial for the Price is Right.
And as for next season… I quibble with their definitions of generations. Apparently the dividing line is 40 years old… you’re telling me a 39 year old is a “millenial”??
Is she the one who makes those videos with everyone running around in tights? Yeah, that was an epic WTF for most people. I think I dosed off during the final jury questioning since I was surprised Tai didn’t get any votes. And I forgot Aubry was the freaked out person at the beginning of the season.
As for next time around, as a Boomer, I always thought the GenXers were supposed to be slackers. It’s very strange to see them positioned as the responsible adults! ![]()
I also thought Aubry had it sewed up. Michele’s supposedly brilliant social game must have ended up on the cutting room floor, because we sure as hell didn’t see much of it on the screen. She’s one of the weakest and least-charismatic Survivor winners I can recall.
She sounded like a total airhead at the reunion show. I was grateful that Probst didn’t call on her after the obligatory opening conversation.
Not sure how I feel about the Gen-X/Millennials premise for the next season, but it appears that there won’t be any returnees from previous seasons. I generally prefer new faces over the recycled Survivor characters.
They should’ve done Bernie vs Hillary supporters!
No – stick all the candidates themselves out there. The last one standing gets to be president!
Hey, who do you think is paying for all the Social Security & ED drugs you Boomers are surviving on
Final decision aside, I loved the final twist of voting out a jury member. I didn’t even think it would matter because I was sure Aubrey had it in the bag. What if it had been Jason kicked out instead of Neil? Then it would’ve been 4-3 for Michelle, but maybe Neil could have convinced someone to flip. Based on Nicks comments, they had all talked over what they were going to do in the jury first, but Neil wasn’t part of that conversation.
Disappointing finale after a great season.
I was rooting for Cydney, but once she was out I truly didn’t care who won because I didn’t like any of the 3 remaining players. You just knew it would come down to fire making when they showed Cydney asking Michele if she should practice her fire making skills…
And the after show was horrible. They need to expand it to 90 minutes so they can get comments from all the players. How could they not talk to Cydney at all? Or Scot & Jason? Pfff!
I loved the “vote out a jury member” play - that was quite a nice surprise.
We thank you for your service!
It used to be that Probst would ensure that every player got to say something during the reunion show, but they’ve abandoned that in the past few seasons…apparently thinking we’d rather hear more from the favorites & finalists, instead of anything from whats-his-name that got booted in the first week. Not sure I agree, given how they wasted their time last night.
When they said they were splitting the teams by generation, I immediately (being self-absorbed) assumed that it would be Boomers vs Whippersnappers. But then I realized that, sadly, a team full of Boomers would be a team full of Joe’s, and our time has passed.
I wasn’t a huge Cydney fan, but don’t think any contestant should reach the finale without being able to make a fire. Her performance in challenges was excellent, but she couldn’t even get a spark to light her hemp…
Joe is on the cusp of early boomer hood. He’s 70. There are boomers in their early 50s, since the standard cut-off date is 1964.
Agreed; it would be possible to put together a strong and competitive team of Boomers, if they were thoroughly vetted. Boomers vs Millennials (basically, me vs my children) would be fun.
Ugh. Boring finale, boring winner. I think Aubrey was the best performer, encapsulated by her presence on the stage in the reunion, she seemed so poised, especially compared with Tai babbling beside her.
As for the next season… ugh again. I’m so sick of generations taking potshots at one another. It’s so unhelpful, just driving people apart for no reason. Everyone sucks, OK?
I thought Michelle was going to win and was rooting for her.
So glad they ignored Phillip in the reunion.
