Sweetrobin's Winds of Winter fan fiction (Game thrones)

I’m not sure how many people on here are aware of this, but I’ve found this interesting and enjoyed it.

After 12 years of waiting for the next book in Game Of Thrones, Preston Jacobs, one of the leading ASOIAF commentators, has got bored and started crowd sourcing chapters of their own fan fiction Winds of Winter, and it’s pretty damned good. The process involves him speccing a chapter, plot points to hit, and takes submissions. People submit by a deadline, he forms a chapter from them and he puts them on youtube as an audio book.

There’s now 10 chapters, and I believe at the current speed, it will be finished in 8 years, which at the moment is in the running to beating George to finishing.

I’m under no illusion this will bear any relation to anything which might eventually be published by GRRM, it might be focusing on bits he’ll never even put much time into, and it might even be written much more like GRRM’s style to the max, with focus on the smaller houses and the minutiae of the world, but at least edited by someone who seems to know their stuff about them…

Still here’s what is there so far. I’ve not found anything which kind of groups them like this so far, like a collecting website.

It seems to take place with the assumptions and timelines of the pre-published Sansa and Alayne chapters that GRRM has read out at cons.

Prologue

Danerys I

Areo I

Alayne I (Sansa)

Arianne I

Alayne II

Arianne II

Areo II

Arianne III

Jon I

Worth updating this, since the board told me some people are actually using these links (seen no replies so I assumed it had disappeared into ether). They seem to have put up GRRM reading his excerpts, some of which throw out the numbering here, but can’t edit the post. So will add them here, first lot predate the rest, and should perhaps be before Alayne I. Some are read by GRRM, a few are his text read by Preston.

Alayne I (GRRM)

Arianne I (GRMM)

Arianne II (GRRM)

And now onto the new ones, plus a few GRRM stuck in in place. Some of these are pretty obscure, Barristan was an extra chapter at the end of the US edition of, I think, Dance of Dragons, I personally went out of my way to find a copy in Borders in New York when I was passing through one day.

Jon II

The Forsaken (GRRM)

The Bravo (Samwell I)

Victarian I (half GRMM)

Barristan I (GRRM)

Tyrion I

Bran I
