I’m not sure how many people on here are aware of this, but I’ve found this interesting and enjoyed it.
After 12 years of waiting for the next book in Game Of Thrones, Preston Jacobs, one of the leading ASOIAF commentators, has got bored and started crowd sourcing chapters of their own fan fiction Winds of Winter, and it’s pretty damned good. The process involves him speccing a chapter, plot points to hit, and takes submissions. People submit by a deadline, he forms a chapter from them and he puts them on youtube as an audio book.
There’s now 10 chapters, and I believe at the current speed, it will be finished in 8 years, which at the moment is in the running to beating George to finishing.
I’m under no illusion this will bear any relation to anything which might eventually be published by GRRM, it might be focusing on bits he’ll never even put much time into, and it might even be written much more like GRRM’s style to the max, with focus on the smaller houses and the minutiae of the world, but at least edited by someone who seems to know their stuff about them…
Still here’s what is there so far. I’ve not found anything which kind of groups them like this so far, like a collecting website.
It seems to take place with the assumptions and timelines of the pre-published Sansa and Alayne chapters that GRRM has read out at cons.
