Taelons vs. Minbari

{Ding ding ding!}

In this corner, from the series “Earth: Final Conflict,” on the run from the Duridians and currently in “friendly relations” with humans on Earth, energy-based beings with a common consciousness - The Taelons!

And in this corner, from the series “Babylon 5,” allies of the human race because they believe we possess their souls, bone-headed spiritualists - The Minbari!

So who would win? Da’an vs. Delenn? Neroon vs. Zo’or? Ma’ghel vs. Dukat? Both have mystical powers, both have advanced technology, both have kick-ass ships.

Personally, I’d love to see Lennier head-butt Zo’or, but that’s just me…

IMHO, the Minbari would wipe the floor with the Companions.
The Minbari are seasoned warriors, and despite the unpleasant civil war, the three Minbari castes-Workers, Warriors, and Religious-work together in unity.

The Companions, OTOH can’t even fight the Jaridians without the assistance of the human race, and despite their claim to have a common consciousness, the Companions-Zo’or and Da’an, for example-get along like cats in a sack.

The Companions’ interdimensional ships would be no match for the Vorlon biotechnology used in the White Star ships.

I haven’t seen any of Earth: Final Conflict… Look I know you’ve just been to a gathering of people like you and you’ve had a good time dressing up and everything, but please. I am a tolerant person and of course I wouldn’t seek to repress you - even though I don’t think dressing up in those tight uniforms and things is natural or moral - but do you have to rub it in our faces? This science fiction agenda is getting right out of hand IMHO.

I think that the Taelons do a pretty good job of getting other species to do their dirty work so I give them the edge when it comes to intrigue.

The Minbari on the other hand once they get worked up get pretty savage. Kill one guy on the gray council and their response is just this side of genocide.

I think the Minbari would just wring the Taelons scrawny little necks. Zo’or doesn’t look like he can take a punch.

Winner Minbari.

“There’s a hole in your solar system. It’s where your planet used to be.”

I think the Taelons might put up a good fight, though (not to mention their protectors - Sandoval v. Lennier would be fun to watch), considering they’re energy-based and the Minbari still have to rely on weaponry (even if it is Vorlon-inspired biological-based weaponry).

I guess because it’s a Roddenberry universe they’re a tad on the wimpy side like Star Trek was often perceived to be (but I believe Starfleet v. Earthforce has already been debated).

Given that the Taelons appear to be unable to bend at the waist, I’d say Minbari, all the way. Hit 'em with that Lennier kung-fu!

But then again, aren’t the Taelons, like, pure energy, or something? Doesn’t that make them pretty hard to kill by conventional means?

But, hey, remember those creepy rings Delenn had in the pilot, when she, like, mentally strangled G’Kar, and then we never saw them again? I bet those would be good against the Taelons.

Now, Vorlons vs. Taelons, no contest.

I think the Vorlons would win that one - they might be equal in strength, but where the Taelons are cunning, the Vorlons, when provoked, are just plain nasty. I think the Shadows would kick their butts, too.

So are the Taelons just big wimps who happen to have more technological advancement than Humans?

OK, I swear I thought the title of this thread was

Taelons vs MINIBAR

So I read it, thinking: Wow, I’ve never had a Taelon in my hotel room, I wonder if it’s better than a mini bar!

Can you tell my boss makes me travel too much?

Yeah, Taelons are total wusses. With the exception of Zo’or’s energy pulse thing or whatever it was he did to Sandoval that one time, they don’t seem to be able to do much. Minbari just plainly and simply kick ass.

Oh, has anyone been watching the widescreen episodes of B5 on Sci-Fi channel lately? Were they made widescreen by minor editing or did they just cut the top and bottom of scenes to give it a widescreen look?

kasuo, Babylon-5 was originally filmed in wide screen aspect ratio and then edited down to TV ratios for broadcast. So Sci-fi is actually showing it properly.

Nobody has mentioned how much cuter the Minbari are.

If Sandoval didn’t think happy thoughts Lennier could just put him in a cornfield. No contest, and it would be good. REAL good!

Dear God, I need cable.

They did that to the pilot, which was filmed in fullscreen format. However, the entire rest of the series was actually filmed in widescreen, then translated to tape in fullscreen format. Straczynski (hallowed be His name) has been looking around for someone to bankroll widescreen translation from film to other media, so that the DVDs can be released in their full glory. TNT and WB (big shocker) were too cheap, but SciFi channel was willing to shell out.

Because of this, I forgive them for giving airtime to that slimy charlatan, John Edward.
