Are there any on the 1st page of results you were surprised to see?
-
They were all on the first page
-
Were there any threads you thought for certain would have showed up in your top 25 and didn’t?
-
Nope
-
Were there any you almost forgot about?
-
Almost all of my Comments on Cecil’s Columns/Staff Reports
-
Were there any you enjoyed rereading? If so, feel free to post a link (by right clicking the title, copying the shortcut and pasting it).

I did enjoy revisiting my most popular thread (well, my only popular thread): Superman, Time Travel, and BZ00000
-
Are the forums your results are in diverse, or are they limited to one or two?
-
3 GQ, 2 BBQ, 2 CSR, 2 CCC, and 1 GD.
-
Did your curiosity get the best of you and you decided to rerun the search in ascending order? If so, what lemons came up in the search?
-
What would be the point? Half of my threads had fewer than 5 replies, and 9/10 had fewer than 500 views.
-
I know. But I didn’t feel like wandering around trying to find an old post so I could figure out my post count. This is what, 1489?
[ul][li]What is your OP : Post Count ratio? [/li]74 : 3218 or 2.3%
[li]Are there any on the 1st page of results you were surprised to see? [/li]One or two I’d mostly forgotten about.

Two (3%) of my threads have no replies by anyone else, thirty (45%) have ten or less and 11 (15%) have over 50.
Ten (14%) of my threads have less than a hundred views, 20 (27%) have over 500, and 1 (1%) has over 15,000[/ul]
I have just discoverd the joy of posting! I’m 47 yrs old! I started one thread and had 22 views the first night! oooh I feel like a little school girl, wait, I mean uh, I feel my thread is very thought provoking.
You mean we are not suppose to blow our own horn?
I must have missed the memo.
Whose horn are we suppose to blow then?
I have spent the last couple of hours vanity searching my old threads.
Dear. God. I. Should. Be.Physically.Restrained.From.This.Place.
If you think I my writing style is incomprehensible, boorish, whiny, self-indulgent, deluded , non-cohesive pile of fecal matter now, I got news for you, it was much, much worse when I started.
What I have received from SDMB is nothing to the carnage of mundania I have inflicted upon each and every one of you.
I profusely apologize.
Surely, you jest!
Yes, and it ain’t stopping me from being a DMM. Doper of Mass Mundania.
I wonder if I can buy a Life on eBay.
I’ve started 30 (29 with a double post), and I have about 900 posts.
My most popular thread in regards to both views and replies was Improving your English is both easy and fun! (mild rant at native English speakers), with 3,193 views. My second place thread, Dopers–Let’s Create an Alternate “100 Greatest Songs of the Past 25 Years” list, has only about half the views, with 1,393. Hey, that’s a numeric anagram of my first thread. WEIRD.
My last place thread is a search for fans of the band The Television Personalities. Zero replies and only 23 views. That’s less than the previously mentioned double-posted thread.
Almost all my threads were in Cafe Society, with a couple each in IMHO and MPSIMS. However, both of my BBQ Pit threads are in my top 3.
None of my threads surprised me.
Let’s see. Twenty five threads spanning GQ, GD, CS, MPSIMS, IMHO, and the Pit. For a guy with 1527 posts over almost three years, that works out to a not very impressive 8 threads per years, and only two percent of posts are starters. Twelve of my threads have four or fewer responses, though I was pleased to note that my more recent threads seem to be getting more attention than my first few. My leader, both in replies and in views, was this thread where I dismembered an aspiring fantasy author. I’ve always been a little proud of that one.
[li]What is your threads created : post count ratio?[/li]
I have created 227 threads to date, and have written - actually, I forget my post count, but I think it’s in the high 6000s, so that is a ratio of approximate 30 posts for every thread created.
[li]Are there any on the 1st page of results you were surprised to see?[/li]
I’d forgotten a few, but there wasn’t anything there I wrote with a split personality.
[li]Were there any threads you thought for certain would have showed up in your top 25 and didn’t?[/li]
Nope. I haven’t started many memorable ones.
[li]Were there any you almost forgot about?[/li]
See above.
[li]Are the forums your results are in diverse, or are they limited to one or two?[/li]
All over. I was actually surprised at the number of Cafe Society threads.
By far, my all-time favourite is:
What is your threads created : post count ratio?
=> Roughly 1:14 (1:14.3 when this is posted)
Are there any on the 1st page of results you were surprised to see?
=> Not as such, no.
Were there any threads you thought for certain would have showed up in your top 25 and didn’t?
=> N/A - only 23 threads
Were there any you almost forgot about?
=> Yeah, the one about Nalgene bottles…
Were there any you enjoyed rereading?
=> I didn’t re-read any of them
Are the forums your results are in diverse, or are they limited to one or two?
=> 10 are in GQ, 7 are in IMHO, 3 are in CS, and 4 are in IMHO. That surprised me because I thought more would be in MPSIMS and IMHO than elsewhere.
Did your curiosity get the best of you and you decided to rerun the search in ascending order? If so, what lemons came up in the search?
=> I didn’t need to do that to find my lemon(Lemon). I suppose IMHO wasn’t the perfect place for it, but I guess I was asking for an opinion, and none of the mods moved it…even so, the thread remains as an open wound (Heh, there’s no “wounded” smiley…)

Six of my threads were about my late wife’s health problems and one was about the death of one of my cats. Views ranged from 1859 - 12, replies from 71 - 0.
20 threads out of 2000 posts, 1% new.
Most popular was my audiophile rant with indicting DNA coming in a close second in views, but passing in replies.
The one I liked the most was The Oldest Name.
Mine are mostly GQ and the Pit, with a couple others tossed in. Good memories.
Poll time: What I’d like to know from any of you who’d like to the search posts you created in descending number of views (preferably during off peak hours) is the following:[ul]
[li]What is your threads created : post count ratio?[/li][li] => 55 threads started : 4256 total posts, or 1.3%[/li][li]Are there any on the 1st page of results you were surprised to see?[/li][li] => The #1 viewed thread didn’t surprise me (a poll on wiping habits), but #2 (about a coworker going to jail in Singapore) suprised me. I was also surpised by #5, a poll about what our parents almost named us (which was my #1 replied-to thread - my only 3-pager!)[/li][li]Were there any threads you thought for certain would have showed up in your top 25 and didn’t?[/li][li] => Nope[/li]
[li]Were there any you almost forgot about?[/li][li] => Not really, since I didn’t start that many to begin with[/li]
[li]Were there any you enjoyed rereading? If so, feel free to post a link (by right clicking the title, copying the shortcut and pasting it).[/li][li] => I learned a lot from my GQ thread Mexican Dollars in 19th century Asian trade?[/li]
[li]Are the forums your results are in diverse, or are they limited to one or two?[/li][li] => Other than not posting in GD, the results are pretty well-mixed.[/li]
[li]Did your curiosity get the best of you and you decided to rerun the search in ascending order? If so, what lemons came up in the search?[/li][li] => I have a distressingly large percentage of started threads that died very lonely, uninformative deaths. One out of every six, in fact. I think I’ll just stick with replying.[/li][/ul]
