I was looking for a script that would rotate bits of html randomly for me, and I checked out the CGI Resource Index as I always do. One that looked promising was “ScreamText” and so I clicked on it to read the comments that had been left.
Here is the only comment that has been left about this script:
“Received threatening email message from designer that said, “Gay and lesbian people are not allowed to use my scripts. You may not have ScreamText on your website or I will take legal action against you.” Should put restrictions on download page.”
Fucking hell, what a sad waste of a soul. One of the things that gets to me is that there’s fuck all I can do to kick this person up the arse until they get a grip on themselves and stop being so hateful.
And how the hell is wankchops supposed to know whether or not a webmaster/webmistress is gay, straight, tall or short, unless it’s explicitly stated on a site. An LGBT themed site does not have a LGBT webmaster/webmistress as a matter of necessity.
Well, unless you know hopemcq, I wouldn’t put 100% faith in the truthfulness of that comment. I use to administer a site that had a similar commenting system and it is amazing the number of people that seemed to enjoy making crap up.
But the rest of his comments on other things all seem straightforward
Regardless, I think the writer of that software should be able to distribute it to whomever he wants, on the basis of whichever descrimination he prefers (I don’t know that he has the right, but he should). But he if he cares so much, he shouldn’t have put it somewhere it could be downloaded by just anybody.
CRorex: no, he gave it half a star. The 2 1/2 is that user’s average rating (for all the scripts he has rated.) It’s there so you can see if someone always rates things a certain way, and take that into account when you consider their rating.
This comment is three years old. I would think, perhaps incorrectly, that if this were a factual comment, there would have been more outrage about it then. There are much more recent horrors to get bent about right now, so without more detailed info about either of the parties involved here, I think I can let this one go.
