Tales From The Bark Side: A Dog MMP

These are worthy of noting in the MMP. :slightly_smiling_face:

Damned straight. Or should I say “Darned skippy”? Not sure which is more MPSIMS.

Boo, I enjoyed your post. Don’t hesitate to tell us that stuff. We can salute FCM’s put-out-10-forest-fires-and-painted-the-Taj-Mahal-before-breakfast industriousness AND relish Swampy’s tales of Olympic sloth. What did I do today? Well, I got a sore throat and felt punky so wimped out of going to the gym. I talked with my sister. I put away groceries. Should I feel bad that I didn’t get more done? Hell, last night I posted about NOTHING.

metal mouse, if the Barn is pet friendly (is it magic?) I may bring him. I would have to bring a cart for the lawn chair, drinks and nibbles though.

I hope that you feel better soon nellie.

{{{shady}}} You’re not annoying.

Mooooooooom, I’ve done baked beans both ways. I used to have a traditional bean pot. It’s pretty easy to put a cup and a half of dried beans and 3.5 cups of liquid plus seasoning into the pot and put it into a low oven all day. I tend to use molasses, dry mustard, some good bacon crumbles, onion sauteed in the bacon fat, salt, pepper and garlic. It’s a good autumn / winter dish. But a can of Bush’s works too. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yay for the jab emily!

I took off an hour early today for a dentist appointment, then rushed home to clean up for the interview. I went, but told them that, after speaking with the guy who formerly had the position, that it was beyond my physical capabilities. They appreciated the fact that I showed up for the interview anyway and twigged me to a position coming up that I would be better suited for.

Sis will be here tomorrow evening and light out when I leave for irk Friday (it will be the 14 hour day of driving leg of her trip).

Stay safe and healthy y’all!

Cow-orker tested positive for COVID-19 this afternoon. He’d been sick in Mexico for four days. He came into the office briefly on Monday, but another cow-orker chased him out. (I telecommuted Monday.) He came in briefly again today and his boss chased him out. I didn’t see him. He was masked both times. He’s been admitted to the VA hospital.

When I lived in Boston, on a graduate student budget, I often made genuine Boston baked beans this way-I still have the authentic bean pot on my stove as a utensil holder. Both types of baked beans are delicious. Now, we’re making me hungry for beans.

Had a lovely FaceTime call with Thomas and Marni-they were out on their apt balcony finishing up dinner by roasting marshmallows over the hamburger coals, so I got to hear all kinds of evening bird calls. Their place backs up onto a trail and nature reserve so it was a nice mitten state bird concert. Maybe it was because I still have my hearing aids in so I could actually hear them!:notes::musical_note::bird::owl::musical_note::notes:

Wheeeeee! The more, the merrier … uh, the better the herd immunity.

What the hell? Jesus, man, do you … live in hell?

I assume that’s a good thing? That’s not a term I’m familiar with, but it sounds oh so very British.

FARTFEST TO FOLLOW !!!

It’s good to be juvenile.

Dang. I dunno what happened, but earlier today, something. let. go. in my brain, and though I’m aware of the things that were bothering me earlier (I didn’t forget about ya, you $%#! gov’t form!) they’re not weighing on me like they did.

With that anxiety (temporarily, I’m sure) lifted, I’z hongry for the first time in a long while. Ribeye and corn, both liberally slathered in butter. There’s a loaf of sourdough on the counter, and I don’t think it’ll survive till next sundown tomorrow.

… and no, it’s not a cannabis thing. Matter of fact, I’m low - almost out - and yet, not worried about that, either.

I think my brain hit a wall or something.

Yay for that kind of wall, shoe! Sounds like an inviting, comfy wall, made out of…marshmallows, maybe?

Another Yay for the jab, Emily!

Fate did not want me to rest, I guess. A friend called and said she really, really wanted to go for a walk but hates walking alone. So we did 4 miles. Now I’m tired and have a sore froat, but it was good for my soul.

I’m not a bean fan, but the other ingredients sound wonderful. What would happen if you made baked beans with bacon or salt pork but left out the beans? Could you serve it on rice or mashed potatoes or something? Asking for a friend.

So … bacon on rice?

ETA: might not be so bad.

It’s after 1AM and I can’t fall asleep. Of course, I need to get blood drawn at 7:30… I may still be awake then. Or maybe I’ll go on Firday. We shall see in a few hours.

If anyone cares, we didn’t go out to eat - delivery instead. Then chillage. Why can’t I sleep, dammit!!:tired_face::tired_face:

Goooooood morning mumpers! It’s Thorsday here in Switzerland and it’s gonna be a hot one today (31.4 C / 88.5 F). I will be the one melting in the corner.

Which may be even more interesting, as I am 3.5 hours away from getting my second Pfizer. Woo hoo!

Been on vacation all week, so lots of relaxation with books, with bits of productivity mixed in. Have to deadhead the peonies and roses and add lots of water to the garden.

Hubby’s not a big bean fan, but he’s okay with refried and black beans. Means I don’t have much cause for making navy beans with ham hocks (with cornbread, of course) or baked beans. The British version of baked beans is not the same, and needs lots of customization to make them interesting. I won’t make that mistake again.

Planning to go to lunch at a restaurant, but eating outside, today. Who wants to be inside, especially without air conditioning? Not sure what normal is, but I think we’re going in that direction.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

Up, shoveled and off to take care of Harriet. Her mama’s water broke at 1:30am and they called Grandma~who made it there in 15 minutes, obeying speed limits and everything.

Whee! Grandson on the way! :roller_coaster: (seemed appropriate)

How exciting!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis < snerk > 69! < snerk > Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 96 and mostly N.O.S. and hyoooooomid. Rain is predicted for tomorrow and Sattidy. We shall see. The big plan of the day is mowage. We are in danger of havin’ the worst lookin’ yahd in da 'hood. :astonished: We just can’t have that now can we! Other than that I foresee much sloth and, of course, quality cee-mint pond time. Sup shall be hot dawgs with chili/cheese/onions and fries. Fartfest to follow.

Boo congarats on impendin’ grandson!

Everyone else, yays, boos, hugs, trouts, chitlins, noogies, and how you doin’s all around, as needed.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, mowage awaits! Rah.

Happy Thursday Y’all!

Yep, I’m up, dressed, and waiting to leave for the Dr office. Dammit. I managed to drop off to sleep sometime after 2, then was awakened a bit after 3 by FCD sniffing the air, asking if I smelled smoke. So, of course, Iay there sniffing long after he fell back to sleep, reminding myself that we have 3 smoke alarms. I feel like crap, but my body clock knows I’m always up at this time, so no sleeping in. I’ll be leaving in about 15 minutes.

Beautiful day on tap - I’ll spend some of it outside weeding - maybe the front bed, since I noticed it looked pretty ratty yesterday. Beyond that, my brain will not go. Yay for babby, BBBoo! Hope it’s a quick and uneventful delivery.

Happy Thursday.

5am and 63F already. Supposed to hit 110F. DO. NOT. WANT.

'Morning, y’all. Woke up feeling ooooky, no doubt the result of an unaccustomed large meal. I really eat like a bird these days.

Getting hyoooomid again - will have to fire up (ha!) the Coolio again shortly.

Good morning, one and all. It’s currently 47 degrees with an expected high of somewhere around the mid-70s. I think it’ll actually be warmer than that. I am thanking my lucky stars that I am not dealing with the kind of heat some of you are enduring. I don’t do hot which is why I’m perfectly content to stay up here in my corner of the PNW. For the most part, it’s temperate, but I know we’ll soon be facing a spate of hot (to me) days. Anything much above 75 or so and I’m whining about the heat.

red, good for you for listening to what they had to say and being told about a potential new position. I hope it all works out for you.

Yesterday was just another day of craziness; non-stop. I’m glad today is my Friday and I am not going to look at my work laptop all weekend. I need a rest.

We’re going up to my daughter’s place on Father’s Day; it’ll be nice to hang out with the kids and grandkids. My grandson, who’s 8 1/2 months started crawling last week and is now pulling himself upright to a standing position. I think he’ll be walking before 12 months, easily. That boy is strong!

Congrats on the new grandson, BBBoo!

I am trying to decide if I’m going putter around the yard tomorrow, or get a pedicure. I may do both. I am definitely mowing the lawn though! All that damn rain has really made it grow! If I do go out, I need to head to the bird store to pick up a couple of things. The birds are really going nuts on the seed mix out there! Jeebus! That and the suet! We’ve had flickers, nuthatches, towhees, chickadees, different finches, different types of sparrows, and even a couple of very large and beautiful pigeons. They only visited once, thank goodness. Do not want pigeons. The crows are also everyday visitors. I do have a couple of starlings that come, but thank goodness they tend to stay away too. I much prefer the perching or songbirds. Also, the squirrels are hilarious. They perch on my fence and stare forlornly at the feeder as the birds go to town. They make their way to the bottom of the feeder but are thwarted by the squirrel baffle and have to be content with the seed on the ground. It’s really quite a show.

My husband cleaned the feeders three days ago, one of them is empty! It needs to be filled today! I think I’m going to change out the finch feeder, or maybe get a different type of finch feeder. It receives some traffic, but not nearly as much as the other feeder, and the finches feed off the other feeder anyway. I dunno, when we first put the finch feeder up, it was getting hit all the time, but I put one of those weather covers over it and that seemed to almost stop the visits. So, I removed the cover, and the birds slowly came back, but it’s just not getting any real hits. The mix in their contains nyjer seeds, which they like, but I don’t know. Maybe I’ll just change the finch mix in there.

Time for another cup of coffee. I really wish it was the end of the day, lol! I’m not looking forward what ever fresh set of problems awaits for me to solve today.

How exciting! Our daughters have stated very firmly that there will be no grandchildren, or aparrently sons in law.
