Tales From The Bark Side: A Dog MMP

Back from being bled (I was second in line), breakfasting on a leftover crabcake because, well, why not? I made a run into Food Lion while down that way - we were almost out of puppy cookies!!! :open_mouth:

Once done eating and catching up on line, I’m going to change and head out to haul a few things to FCD’s shop, then futz in the garden for a while. It was about 57° when I got up, and it’s supposed to stay in the 70s, so a perfectly loverly day! It’d be a shame to waste it indoors!

Looks like I’ll be a latecomer to the grandson club - not till around Thanksgiving. But that works out - by then FCD should have both new knees and be well on his way to recovery. Fingers crossed.

Morning all. Heading for 89F, I really should mow the lawn again but first need to see the dentist at 11am, so we’ll see. Due to referee at a soccer tournament Friday and Saturday, so that will wear me down some. Will get it mowed before I leave 2sday for my mini-vacation.

BBBoo, awaiting news of your impending new grandbaby.

red, honesty appears to be the best policy; hope the other job gets listed soon.

Dicey, congrats on the second jab. Hope things begins to open up for you now.

shoe, saw your dinner on Facebook… And good on brain for kicking you in the as…gluteous…

Flyboy, glad you didn’t have contact with the COVID-idiot at work…unfortunately, idiots will never die out…

OK, pills taken and garbage/recyclables are outside on the curb, so just a matter of a couple hours before dental work. Oh joy. Take care all.

Unfortunately, pets are not allowed at Arrington, unless it is an ADA certified service animal.

The orifice is being moved to the new building today, so everyone gets a day’s vacation. I shut down my confuser yesterday, and I couldn’t work even if I wanted to.

Yesterday after I went to get my salad for lunch, my confuser was acting strangely. A drop-down menu in Excel wouldn’t go away. I restarted, and Excel was OK. I went to Access, and it was doing something strange. In Edge, it kept trying to open new tabs. I shut down (which was also problematic) and restarted again. Eventually it dawned on me that I’d packed up the unused wireless keyboard, and something must have been pushing on a key or keys. Everything was OK when I repacked it. (Why don’t I use the wireless keyboard and mouse? Because batteries don’t like me.)

… and dehydrated, apparently. I’ve had much to drink, and feel better.
Fired up the oven to bake that sourdough I didn’t get to last night (it’s one of those “finish baking at home!” things, and I collapsed into a meat-induced coma before that could be arranged) and am adding a few lines to my cross stitch hoop in the meantime.

Gods, when I see the temperatures ppl are posting for TX, for Vegas, for Calif. I just … shudder. I’m so DONE with heat - would much rather shiver than melt.

I’ve always said that if you’re cold, you can put more clothes on. If you’re hot, there are only so many clothes you can take off.

Mowage is complete. I repeat, mowage is complete. We are no longer in danger of bein’ the worst yahd in da ‘hood. Also were are all showered and have had a beerverage. What? We’re retired Olde Phartes, and can have a beerverage in the mornin’ if’n we want. Besides, a cold beerverage is mandatory whilst sittin’ on the back porch admirin’ one’s handiwork.

Thank you for the tip, kay! We don’t have any pets (much to my dismay) so I think we’ll be okay, but I’ll keep that in mind since we are occasionally around others’ critters.

swampy, does this mean that you no longer belong to the Beverly Hillbillies clan?

Today is meeting-full and content-light. I had my Most Important Meeting this morning and it went really well. 1. I didn’t present - one of my employees wanted to do so in front of the big muckety mucks; and 2. she did an absolutely beautiful job. I was so proud of her.

So, I’m going to have to figure out how to bask in that for the rest of the day. Hopefully it won’t be too terribly hard since I showed a little discipline last night and got myself to sleep early.

Way busy today, I think some of y’all jumped the gun on Prime Day.

WEEEEEEE! :roller_coaster: :ferris_wheel: :motorcycle:

Wait…there’s another grand-doper on the way?! YAY!

Afternoon, mumpers! I have read much and retained little, largely because I’ve just sat through a 2hr training thing on our end-of-session processing which is something I get to complete every year in my job, but which seems to get more and more complicated with covid regulations, emergency assessment frameworks and now joined this year by our no detriment and fair assessment policies. All far too much for my little overheated brain to deal with!

Boo congrats on the grand-doper, I hope the arrival is safe and swift!

{{{{nellie}}}} just 'cos

shoe good for your brain, getting all sensible like that. I saw the post of your steak and corn on FB and thought it looked really good.

And for the rest of you, I have made baked beans from scratch too. It was an interesting experiment, not necessarily one I’d repeat but it was fun to have a go.

It’s cloudier and cooler than the last few days, all those thunderboomers we were promised never arrived, I think they’ve bypassed us completely although we might get some rain tomorrow which should help cool things down a bit more. I am not built for heat, that’s for sure!

I hauled stuff out to the shop, pulled some weeds, planted a few more veggies (hope it’s not too late already) then fed and watered the crops. I was pulling up weeds from a gravel area when it occurred to me that I just needed to put a black plastic bag over the gravel for a few days to bake the weeds to DEATH!!! :skull_and_crossbones: :skull_and_crossbones: :skull_and_crossbones: Done - we shall see if it works.

And I came across a small box of crocheted hexagons that someone had donated to AARP and they sent to me. I was going to toss them, but I laid them out and I can get a lap robe out of them. So I’ve been stitching them together. Then I’ll probably crochet a border around the whole thing - I think I have enough yarn scraps to manage that.

I’d really hoped to do more outside, but I’m just beat, operating on maybe 3 hours of disturbed sleep. Just finishing lunch. Maybe I’ll get motivated to go out later. Or not. Don’t care. I’s tahred…

It’s so nice to wake up to a beautiful day, isn’t it? Last night was all nightmares about the ex. Luckily, I don’t have nearly as many of those as I used to, and they’re not as bad. This one ended with him safely in jail. Today I’m going to the gym. I also have to walk a package to the USPS.

Yaaaay, a baby on Boo’s way! Can’t wait to learn the details: weight, length, name, hair, Boo-features?

swampy, do you have two mowers, or do you and OYKW take turns sitting in the shade and calling, “You missed a spot!”?

shoe, does cannabis help with the anxiety/appetite thing? Seems like getting enough sustenance/liquids would be important for someone as busy as you are at work.

BooFae, you are such a sweet person!

flyboy, do you go to the new office tomorrow, or do you work from home? I hope all your stuff gets to your new…office? Cubicle? Desk?

I’m going into the new orifice tomorrow. I need to get settled into my irkspace, and make sure my laptop connects remotely. I don’t know if I can do that there, or if I’ll have to find a hotspot. ISTR we can’t connect remotely from our own server.

I’ll be sharing an orifice with one person in the basement. He comes in once a week, and I come in twice. We’ll each have a desk. Mine will be by the basement window.

OK, now I’m imagining desks in a dank, concrete space with cobwebs hanging over your workspace and maybe the prisoner from Holy Grail clapping now and then.

I think my cow-orker would be good with that.

Somewhat. Put another way: things get much, much worse without it. Cannabis basically nudges me into something approaching functionality - it doesn’t “fix” the problem, but a lack thereof makes everything worse.

A nightmare with a happy - or at least tolerable - ending? Good for your subconscious, for ending things on a better note.

Afternoon all. Teeth have been X-Rayed, cleaned, polished and flossed. I have an appointment in July to work on the two damaged teeth so that is set. Put gas in car and treated myself to a double cheeburger and small fries at Burger King.

flyboy, enjoy the basement office…been there, done that.

{{{nellie}}}, just because.

talky, good on you for letting an employee shine…it’ll help them someday, I hope, to climb the ladder.

Up to 90F now, if I mow at all today it’ll be in the evening, that’s for sure. All y’all stay cool.

It will be interesting. We used to be in Belltown where there are lots of hills, and we were on the second floor so there was a long flight of stairs. Since we moved to Harbor Island, and since I mostly telecommute, I’ve rarely encountered stairs for… six years? The one time I visited the new orifice, I was surprised at my difficulty handling the stairs. [NB: I have knee injuries and some nerve damage from accidents in high school.]

I’m hoping that using the stairs a few times a day, twice a week, will revive those unused muscles.

Went out and moo’d the weeds. Now it’s time for a shower and a load of laundry.
