Tales from the MMP - Influencing The Market

I hear dat!
It ends with the stripping of the Altar and everyone leaving in silence.
Are you planning to paint it, or are you restoring it to be stained and varnished?

Someone must be having a baby play date or whatever they call it when mothers bring their small children to someone’s house. The street has filled up with minivans.

Got a big ol’ case of don’wannas, but that’s to be expected on a dreary, drizzly Friday. Also got a big ol’ case of the fuzzies from trying to tame allergies.

Har gotti! “Stripping the Altar” means taking off the Altar Cloths, moving the candleabras and all the other stuff around the Altar. It remains bare for Good Friday and then gets all gussied up again tomorrow so it’s all purty for Easter.

I managed not to drown in paper irk. Now I’m waitin’ on one o’clock cause then I go to da cave. I might mow. Or not. Depends on the degree of laziness which might descend upon da bear.

Whew! Finally caught up. {{mmmmms}} for a bad birthday and for your MIL. rosie’s sig to everyone else.

Thanks for asking, gt. So far, I’m not actually doing much managing. Three of us used to report to Manager-now-Director so eventually I will have three people reporting to me. But, obviously, one of them was me, so that leaves me with two. One of them transferred to a different department. So that leaves me with one. And he does very different stuff from my old position so we’re having an extended transition period while I learn what he does before he reports to me. So… no direct reports so not much managing to do. I did have a meeting with him and the woman who’s leaving our group yesterday to talk about what we need to get done. I think that went well. And I’m very quickly learning the hiring process. I just gave my list to HR today to set up phone screens. I’m a bit nervous about that, but I have a form with questions to ask so that’s a good starting point. And we have a new person in HR to do management training. I met with her this week, and she gave me some ideas and a book to read so I feel like I at least am getting some ideas. I also had lunch yesterday with a coworker who started just after I did and who also has a new direct report. I think we’ll get together somewhat regularly to exchange ideas and experiences. And Manager-now-Director and VP are both excellent leaders and good resources. So I have plenty of places to go for advice. Now I just need to have some people to lead! And to give my old work to so I can just be a manager rather than doing my old job and being a manager.

Despite being very busy at work, I did have a very good cooking week. I invented/combined recipes for orecchiette with a garden pea pesto, which was amazing. I *really *like orecchiette. They’re chewy, and they stick together in stacks that have a wonderful texture. And they hold thick sauces really well. Then I made shells & cheese & broccoli with fontina cheese. Fontina makes wonderful mac & cheese. And a curry chicken last night that turned out quite well. I like cooking.

Now I’m hungry.

I don’t have very much to do today…one of the advantages of working from home. I was supposed to have today off for our Vegas adventure so I kinda planned all my stuff out so I didn’t have anything pressing until Tuesday next week. My boss is on vacation and I am in charge but it is the weekend so I think I am going to slack off a little. I might head to Costco at lunch and get some of their yummy crabcakes for dinner to have with butternut squash. I wil probably hit target as well

I am making Veggie lasagne for Easter dinner as there is just me and Saturday night is beef tenderloin steak for me with roasted veggies:D

purring kitteh on shoulder =^.^=

It’s a bad idea to listen to the first several minutes of *Rush’s 2112/Overture *after drinking a whole bottle of soda . . .

Our Bass Ackwards Moving Sale rained out. Made enough dough to pay for the table rentals…:mad:

Tomorrow’s forecast is even more grim.

LOL (please vote)

Hope you’re not contagious! I was having major snurfles this morning, going thru about half a box of tissues, but I’m pretty sure it’s all allergy related, what with pollen, cats that like to get in my face, and whatever evils reside in the ventilation of the office.

I’m home thanks to an hour early release, but really tired. I’ve sorted the laundry and I’ve got the dog’s blankets in the first load - they really stunk bad!! Oh, and Beaker isn’t dead after all! He doesn’t look great, but he’s alive. I don’t know if there’s anything we can do for him, but he’s got food and water and humidity and a heat lamp. What more could a gecko want?

No rain yet, but I parked outside in the hopes that we get some and it rinses the yellow dust off my red car. Stoopit pollen.

Daughter gets home tomorrow - yay! Glad my work week is done. Hoping they offer the retirement incentive bonuses soon…

TGIF!!

Forgot to mention - today was my last day playing boss. MEGA-YAY!!! In honor of the event, Dave brought me a roll of masking tape and Lisa lay half in/half out of the boss’ office and we used the tape to make a “chalk outline” around her body. I’ll never be asked to be boss ever again!

I have a plastic knife that I’m going to stain with “blood”- probably ketchup - and let it dry over the weekend. I may also mix up something easily washable to leave bloody hand prints on his door. Wish I had some Crime Scene tape!

The Division Director saw it and laughed, so I’m pretty sure I won’t get fired over this. All the people who came in to use our conference room were laughing, too. I just hope the boss doesn’t come in earlier than I do on Monday. I need to do a few finishing touches.

I’m actually looking forward to work on Monday! Wish I could take pictures, but cameras are absolutely forbidden in the building. It’s firing offense, potentially a criminal offense because of the classified materials in most offices. So you’re just have to use your imaginations.

Sorry for the smiley abuse.   :D:D

No, I’m not.

Old joke:

Is this Maundy Friday?

No, it’s Thursday.

So am I, let’s get a drink!

Maybe i’m not remembering that right.

You said a mouthful there! I sat through mandatory training for three hours on drumroll–lighting. That is three hours I will never get back. Big Navy has mandated all naval facilities cut enegry consumption by 50% in the next few years but this seminar was almost like a sales pitch and I nor most people in the room are not the decision makers. I hate to waste my time for any reason even though I was being paid to be there. I am a taxpayer dammit.

Gas is over $4 for the cheap stuff here in paradise.

I hope all has a relaxing weekend with good weather, good food, good sleep so
a Rosie’s sig will cover the rest. TGIF

I have started drinking wine at about 4:59…I figured it was close enough to 5PM

very unhappy at the moment…wine might help!

{{{{{{{{{{{{{mmmmmmmmmmmm}}}}}}}}}}}}}}

Sorry you’re unhappy, mmmmmmmmmmm. Hope Mr. mmmmmm can be home soon.

Glad things are going well, taxi. I think it’s a good thing that you’re having a gentle transition into management.

I had today off and hung out on the couch with nephew most of the day. It’s been rainy out and we were both feeling lazy.

There was more, but I’m tired and have to get up early to go to the park for a meeting.

Hugs all.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ YAWN but don’t wanna be! Irk has me up. I’m goin’ to Boston today. What sites should I see? If you click on the link for events, you will see “Spring Fling”. We have a booth to promote the Council on Aging. We have church fans, ink pens (awful ink pens!), magnifiers and cloth glasses cases as giveaways along with [del]propaganda[/del] brochures about services.

On the up side the weather should be good. Right now ‘tis 60 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of high 80s. I’m hopin’ to get outta there by around two so’s I can come back to da cave and have a nappy poo before goin’ to the Easter Vigil at the church house tonight. I’d blow that off exceptin’ MOG’s (remember her?) granddaughter is gettin’ baptized so our presence is demanded.

Yays, boos, hugs, wedgies, nougies, smooches, woohoos, trouts, chitlins, how you doin’s as needed.

I must have more caffiene. Since we gotta get on the road at seven a.m., we’re gonna stop at MickeyD’s and grab some brekkie.

Thus will be my day.

Happy Sattidy Y’all!

I’ve been up and about for an hour or so. Both dogs have been out and fed, both cat boxes are clean, crickets have been dispensed to the amphibians, and I wrote a long email to an old friend.

When **FCD **drags his butt outta bed, we’re going to get cleaned up and go for breakfast, then to a coworker of his to buy some coral for the aquarium. It’s supposed to be showery all day, so I don’t see any yard work getting done. On the other hand, the showers have de-pollenated my car, so that’s good.

Daughter is getting home tonight, but I can’t figure out which flight she’s on - nothing arrives at the time she told me. I’ll call her in a bit to find out. I did see one flight was canceled - hope it wasn’t hers…

Mostly, I’m seeing a lazy day. Yay!

Happy Saturday!

Up. Do blurfs count on Saturday?

A last minute reprieve on the Bass Ackwards Moving Sale. I sold the riding mower last evening to someone who came earlier to see stuff, so we officially made a profit. That means I get to spend time today putting together the push mower I bought this week.

VWife wants to go to the local flea market to do research on booth rental as an alternative to yahd sales at home. Add in the usual weekend brekkies out, and we’ll have plenty of opportunities for Mooooooooooom and family to stalk us today.

Tonight The Ten Commandments is on the boob tube, one of my all-time favorite cheesy movies.

AMF.

**BBBobbio **- Charlotte Hall?

**FCD **is still zonked out. I’m getting hungry. I may just go poke him with a pointy stick…
