Tales of a Louse - Tall Tales in the MMP

I don’t fast, except for medical reasons.
[David Banner] *Don’t make me hungry. You wouldn’t like me when I’m hungry. [/David Banner]

I made chicken noodle soup for dinner last night. See, when I got home, I discovered that the boneless-skinless Chickie Boobs (N.O.T.B.) that I had set aside for dinner were stil partially frozen, which usually means they get chopped up and put into a casseroly thing. But then I thought “Home-made chicken noodle soup would be really good!” Normally I wouldn’t think twice, but it was already 6:30 when I got home, so I looked in the drawer where noodley things dwell, but all I found was a little bit of odds and ends inna bag, so home-made noodles it was anyway. (I likes 'em better anyways.) But I forgot the recipe for noodles :smack: so I looked it up. It wasn’t until I had them rolled out that I realized that I shoulda doubled the recipe, so the odds-n-ends got thrown in too. But it was Goo-oo-ood anyway.

I loves me some gouda and/or edam cheese! Brie I can take or leave.

I searched on Ashes the other day and didn’t find anything. (Ashes is hard to search on, so I may have missed her.) Kallessa hasn’t posted since Dec.
I miss them too. :frowning:

Early to bed doesn’t necessarily mean early to sleep. It was spend the night night, you know.

I sense a marketing scheme… we’ll just advertise it in truck magazines.

Would someone like to clean my kitchen for me? I need to knead dough, shape cinnamon rolls, and caramelise onions. I have to clean the cuisinart. Boo. I made four batches of hummus. It’s all packaged up and ready to freeze.

You know, the stupid part is that three-quarters of this is totally unnecessary. No one is forcing me to make any of it. I like to cook, but I hate, hate, hate cleaning up or putting things away.

donkeybear spend the night night was Monday. Last night was eat pancakes and bacon night. There was no night spending. Tonight is <snerk> Quickie <snerk> night. That means we’re meeting at a restaurant called The <snerk> Quickie <snerk> to grab a <snerk> quickie <snerk> dinner cause ACBG has a meeting to go to, so night spending tonight. Tomorrow night may or may not be spend the night night depending on how early he gets through work. This weekend will be spend the weekend weekend at my place.

Bumba sometimes when I make soup, I put all kinds of odds and ends of noodles in it. I think all the different shapes and or colors makes it purty and inneresting.

Whew - what a day this was! I woke up around 2AM dreaming about work - GAH!!! Then I spent most of the day at work trying to write up a summary while fielding questions via phone, email, and in person. By about 1 this afternoon, I was absolutely fried. I wound up working till almost 3 (normally I leave around 2) and I was whipped as I drove home.

Supper tonight will be pancakes because I don’t feel like cooking and I’m too tired to go out to eat. I wish I had some wine - it would go a long way to helping me sleep tonight…

Tomorrow should be ever worse. Two and a half more weeks till the exercise is over. eeeesh…

whine whine whine

anyone ever have a chocolate covered potato chip? There’s a contanier of them ben sitting on the counter here at W for a week or so, I think about them ever time I pass. So today I finally tried them. Not great but not too bad. The chocolate tends to add a smidgen of soggy to the already greasy potato chip. And it was milk choco. Might taste better with dark choco. on a scale of 10, where the really good choco-pretzels are 8, this was about a 5, 5.5

I’ve had Pringles with chocolate icing on them–a little slice of heaven, that is. Of course, I had PMS at the time.

It’s going to snow again tomorrow. We’re supposed to get 3 inches - the north & west 'burbs are supposed to get 6 or more.

waaaaaaahhhhh

I hate snow

Well, just how messy are you? I don’'t mind cleanup generally especially if I get compensated with baked goods and hummus. Long as I don’t have to wash the walls or mop the floor and there’s somebody who will wipe the dishes.

Ooh, I slept and slept. That felt really good. I needed that.

Glad you’re feeling better, rigs.

I’m not too messy. I’ve been cleaning as I go, so it could be a lot worse. Right now I’m grilling a huge quantity of veggies. I’m making a lot to eat cold or warm over the next four days. I’ve got red, yellow, and orange peppers- $.99 a pound!- zuchinni, tomatoes, eggplant… I got garlic sprouts, too, and I’m going to see if they grill okay. They look like chives. I think they’re usually called garlic scapes.

Anyway, it’ll all be tossed in olive oil and stuck in the fridge.

The bread, buns, and foccaccia are all done.

I think I might bribe or coerce Attacks Husband into coming over and having a kitchen cleaning party after he gets back from school. About 11. He’ll get bread and foccaccia, and maybe get to help with the danish pastry tomorrow.

I’d stop up and help clean, Lissla, but unfortunately I have to clean my own kitchen.

Thanks for the cheese update, Spats. I like the puns.

Sounds like it’s pretty stressful, FCM. Especially since FCD is still in recovery mode. Make sure you’re taking care of yourself!

Glad the nap helped, rigs.

Here’s some more Lent stuff: 25 things you can do for Lent…besides giving up chocolate. Some of them are Catholic-oriented, but some of them are things that anyone can do if you’re just wanting to focus on something meaningful for x period of time (which is more my approach).

Soup is still sounding really good, but instead I had a couple of quesadillas and a kiwi. Soup tomorrow, maybe.

Yeah, the Catholic version of fasting is pretty wimpy. You’re basically supposed to eat two meals’ worth of food instead of three, with nothing in between. And no, potato chips don’t really fit into the traditional definition. I’m always surprised at the food I can eat without thinking. (Chocolate at work is my downfall.)

Hey, Spats and taxi, they just had the president of RPI on the radio! (On Marketplace, as part of a story about teaching science and engineering in the US).

Gotta get moving… Back later.

Thank you, thank you, I’ll be here all week. Don’t forget to tip the waitstaff.

hands Spats a quarter

Don’t spend it all in one place, sonny.

Yeah, actually, can she get change for that? A quarter’s a lot of money…

Intellectual Husband just phoned to ask if he can come visit next weekend. I’m going to have to do some fan-dancing to get out of work so I’ll be around when he’s here. Unfortunately his wife can’t come. This is lots of warning. We haven’t seen him for two years, so it’ll be nice, but dang, I wish we had more time. Mr. Lissar will be working night shift in 12 hour stretches.

That’s a good link, gt. Thanks.

You’re welcome, Spats. Here’s a nickel…

Did I mention I spent more than 20 minutes yesterday searching for my cell phone? (Reminder: my house is minuscule.) I realized on the way to work that I didn’t have it with me, but couldn’t clearly picture where it might be. Got home and couldn’t for the life of me think of the last time I’d used it. I concluded that it was on the way to get my hair cut. Then I remembered thinking that it was dumb that I’d taken it out of my pocket and spent about 10 minutes worrying that I’d either dropped it or left it at the hair place. Tried calling it. Didn’t hear anything. Eventually found it neatly tucked into a fold in the throw on the couch. With a dead battery (thus explaining the lack of sound when I called it; I’m pretty paranoid about making sure the sound is on when I’m home so that such location attempts will work). Yes, I do lead an exciting life.

Thought you might like that site, Lissla; glad you did. Too bad Intellectual Husband’s timing couldn’t be better. At least you’ll get to see him some. You’ll tell him we all say hi and that we’ve missed him, too, right?

Shouldn’t Rue be popping in here soon?

Think I’ll read for a while. I’ve been bad about reading lately and need to get The Feast of Love finished before next week.

I grilled some eggplant tonight, and then didn’t eat it. :frowning: I wasn’t sure what to do with it, other than slicing it and putting it on the grill. Pan frying it in olive oil with Greek seasoning didn’t go so well, as it sllllllllurped up all the olive oil. The reason I didn’t eat it tonight is because we had homeburgers again tonight (once again, entirely delicious) and spaghetti squash.

We have a winner there. I am probably not going to buy another eggplant any time soon, but I sure will a spaghetti squash. I cut, removed seeds and pulped, and nuked, then combed out the strands, added (real) bacon bits and green onions, and parmesan and herbs. I had two very large helpings of it, and yum. Yum.

Now. The question simmering in my mind is… The seeds and pulp looked just like pumpkin seeds. Me love to eat roasted pumpkin seeds.

Can I roast and munch on spaghetti squash seeds?

Y’all are a bunch of cheapskates. Just remember, you get what you pay for. Ima go sleep now, but I’ll be up again too soon to post the next Cheese of the Day.

I’m no authority, but my first thought is: What would it hurt to try? Kinda like the first guy who looked at a chicken and said, “I’m gonna eat the next thing that comes outta that animal…” Well, it sounded funny in my head. It’s early, so cut me some slack.

I took some melatonin and crashed early last night, and although I woke several times, I fell back to sleep pretty fast, and by this morning, I was more or less rested. I’m just about done with my start-of-the-day checking of the web and about to head back to my cubicle and continue whatever the heck it is I’m supposed to be doing.

I’m thinking this would be a good time to hit a big lotto jackpot…

Catch y’all after work. Have a loverly Thursday!

Rue, you’re overdue to check in, dagnabbit!
