Yeah, where’s the other u come from?
And is it okay if I pick my nose anyway?

PICU =pediatric intensive care UNIT nurse.
It’s one of the toughest jobs out there in nursing–she deserves a lot of credit and kudos.
this cold is like I’m possessed (that looks wrong)–I can’t sleep, but I cna’t do anything,either.
Wah!
no no no - I *know * **what ** it means - it’s just the way my fevered brain works - I’m sorry if it offended
Random silliness in my life:
Stopping to get a sandwich for lunch and discovering that the fiver you stuck in your wallet yesterday isn’t there any more.
Listening to the ‘jazz’ station this morning and the guy (on the recording) said* “Now we’d like to play an old standard; Poinciana.”*
Poinciana lost.
In an e-mail I got this morning: Inflation? My dog is worried about the economy because Alpo is up to $3.00 a can. That’s almost $21.00 in dog money.
Serious section:
We did our taxes already. We owe the IRS $10k and change. Most of that is Social Insecurity. Ahh, the joys of being self-employed.
On the plus side; the hospital has finally decided we aren’t really trying to hide our jet-setting lifestyle and really are dirt poor and are going to cut us a deal. They say.
I try to expect the best from people, but, based on prior history, it’s difficult.
Ummm…make that the fiver I stuck in my wallet.
I have no idea what’s in your wallet.
I almost forgot! I was reliably informed this morning that today is International Pancake Day!!! That gives everybody a perfect excuse to have pancakes for dinner.
On the more TMI side–I have cramps and I am very not happy about it, as I’ve had them on and off for four days, which is very unusual for me. I would like to lodge a complaint with whoever rules the world of cramps.
I like the way you think! There’s no way I could pull that off, but I did enjoy considering the option. Especially after today - I spent some time this morning doing data input, none of which was saved. I did hit the “save” button, but as was explained to my by the nice tech who responded to my trouble call, there’s a “glitch” in some of the old files. Apparently, I was working with some old files. So she de-glitched them and I was able to do them all over again - successfully the second time. rah.
I only worked 30 minutes over today, so there’s that.
Still not Friday… <sigh>
<snerk>!
Also, I’m feeling very lazy today. My books on the gay world came in today, and I flipped through them.
::yawn::
Yikes and yeesh! :eek:
I’ll be happy with my piddly return and not gripe. The news about the hospital is great. As an aside, and admittedly I don’t know a damn thing about this stuff; but wouldn’t some of the medical bills you may have already paid, um reduced your taxable income? If you feel it’s none of my business, ignore my silly question. I could understand that.
My dad and step-mother had an almost 10K tax bill a few years ago. Turned the out the company she worked for hadn’t deducted enough from her paychecks for Social Security and Fed taxes. My step-mother was really hosed over in that deal. At any rate, they worked out a plan with the IRS and all is good now.
I left work an hour late last night, you may remember some of the pissing and moaning I was doing. Well, I finally heard from that individual just before I was going to leave. We went over the two new products I sent her and she seemed satisfied. I didn’t hang out long enough to find out anymore. At any rate, she did send me a very nice e-mail thanking me for going the “extra mile” to help her out. She CC’d the boss too.
You know, I probably wouldn’t have minded helping her out at all, IF she had come to me originally instead of doing an end run around me and going to my boss first. She said she did it because she knew what she was asking of me was not my function or job and she wanted my boss’s permission.
Um, I work independently. I just do what needs to be done, work on improvements and present them. It’s rare that I am tasked directly from the boss. Oh, occassionally something comes up, but it’s rare. I have reoccurring taskers, but really are directed by higher headquarters. In other words, I am pretty much unsupervised and left to my own devices. Most of the time I like that. My old boss purposely set up this job that way and freely admitted it to me. It’s actually pretty decent. I wish the pay was one grade higher at least, but I can’t really complain about what I do earn for this job.
Well, off to cruise the net some more.
A Capital One card.
We owe about $5K–people died and left us money. Yippee. Not to sound ungrateful, but jeez, it pushed us into another tax bracket–that and my raise and his bonus.
it sucks to make money, ya know? (on the other hand…
).
I did quite well in the stock market in 1999, so I had to pay dearly at tax time - to do so I had to sell off a buncha, which produced a profit in 2000, so I had to pay dearly again. To do so, I once again sold off some, but this time at a rather large deficit, which resulted in so large of a capital loss, that I’ll be claiming that deduction for at least 3 more years
I’m getting ~$500 back from the federal gov’t but have to pay the state ~$60. I always have to pay the state ~$60. Why is that? I just don’t get it.
States usally tax at different rates than the Feds
Also it may have something to do with how you filled out your W4s - If you have different deductions for each, that could account for a refund from one and having to pay the other. I set my state to 2 and my Fed to 0 (tho I keep meaning to set the state to 0 to match - I just never have)
As soon as I get #1 son, I am going to the wake. It’s not that I feel great or anything, but I feel I need to show my face there–to be a witness somehow for John.
Then hot bath and bed for me.
Well, crap! I’m very worried about my friend and her son. She is the admin asst for our dept and when I call in it’s up to her to put out two daily reports I put out. It’s all very simple, update a linked spreadsheet, open another spreadsheet, update, breaklinks, rename, protect, share, and publish to a shared drive.
However, she called me at home to tell me she was in the ER with her 12 year old son who may have appendicitis. She was all worried about putting out that silly report and I told her that she was not to worry about it. Anyway, they were waiting to run some tests on her son.
I’m very worried about my friend. Her husband is at a training exercise in another state, and her other son has some special needs. I told her to call me for anything she might need, even if it’s just to talk about it. I know she and her son are being taken care of because the ER is at the hospital we both work at. I know the boss is all over it too. Still, I’m worried for Patti and her son. She’s an awesome person, but takes on a lot of burdens and worries excessively about them.
I’m going to call her cell, but I probably won’t reach her.
Well, we got rid of the septic tank! No, not the one that’s buried in the yard. The previous owners had a round steel septic tank sitting behind the shed set up to collect rain water. I ran a freebie ad, and a guy came today and took it. YAY! I’ve been trying to get rid of it for a month.
We had potato soup - I make gooooooood potato soup! One batch is enough for 2 bowl for each of us. I toss swiss cheese into mine, he eats the cheese on the side. Either way, it’s yummerrific! We’re going out in a little bit to run some errands then stop somewhere for dessert. Kinda like a Tuesday night mini-date. It makes up for the inanity at work.
<sick, puppy eyes>
Could I have some nice hot potato soup with Swiss cheese?
<lower lip out>
Please?
Thanks, mom!
Today is pancake Tuesday. I will make pancakes soon.
I just bought $200 worth of groceries, including 27 pounds of flour. How the hell am I going to store all of this? I’m going to make a big batch of a veggie soup/pureed veggie soup or curry in the next half an hour, to start using up some of the veggies. Any votes? I have carrots, peppers, an eggplant, tomatoes, broccoli and cauliflower. And some spinach in the fridge. I’m thinking pureed broccoli and cauliflower soup.
I’m going to freeze it and dips and things in individual containers for using in the next couple of weeks.
Ok, Unit.
