Tales of Michigan MMP

taxi, just close your eyes.

Hmm. I phoned the inlaws, and it seems they’re in town for a baseball game tonight, and the schedule is crowded. They’ll come tomorrow morning. I really hope tomorrow morning is better than this morning.
I think we’ll have nachos for dinner, with leftover shredded beef and homemade salsa. Fancy.

LiLi nachos sound good! MMMMMMMM…

If any of y’all are Twilight Zone [del]freaks[/del] fans like me, head on over to the feud This one is waaaaaay fun!

taxi, I’ll happily take the brownie off your hands if you’re too grossed out to eat.

So is it the weekend yet? Coz I really really would like it to be. Preferably right now, if that could be arranged.

It is almost the weekend. Wooo hooo
Oh and to the lady at the train station: Do not roll your pant legs to make them look like capris. It looks tacky.

ETA: maybe this comment should have gone in the crotchety old lady thread. Oh well.

YAAAARRRRRR! I’m very influential. I posted a note on our electronic BB at work about Int’l Talk Like a Pirate Day, and I was hearing Pirate Talk all over the place! Go me!

We’re waiting for daughter to come home so we can run some errands and get supper. SIL is working till 9, so we don’t have to feed him.

I had a horrible night last night - I don’t know if I kept waking up or if I was dreaming that I kept waking up. But I woke up pooped.

Tomorrow, color goes on the walls. YAY!!!

There’s a “Crotchety Old Lady” thread? Hmmm, perhaps that’s where I should have posted earlier today. I shall take myself there now, as I am a champion crotchety old lady, and, I’m not even old…yet.

So sniffly.
So sleepy.
Soup is nummy, though.

I managed. Thanks.

Is this afternoon dragging on for everyone else too? 'Cause it seems like today Will. Not. End. Ugh. I wanna go home!

Just reportin’ in to say that home grilled burgers accompanied with burly butcher bacon and hoop cheese plus steak fries which I baked in the oven as a healthy alternative, and a couple beerverages, followed by dessert of Blue Bell Georgia Peach Cobbler Ice Cream, makes a dang fine nummy supper.

JoeDawg had his dindin of chicken with gravy mixed with some rice and a little bit of burger which he promptly snarfed down. I believe in a well-balanced diet to go along with my strict nanny regimen. Speakin’ of cantakerous chee-hoo-ah-ahs… givin’ medicine to one is an adventure unto itself. I’m gettin’ THE LOOK every time I walk by the sofa.

The Look? Clearly, you need to up the number of mandatory skritch intervals/day!!! Shocking behavior.

Arrrrr. Pirate stuff. I’m not fluent in Pirate, although I did make a joke about ITLAPD at someone today after I said Arrrrrrgh at work and they laughed.

Added more recipes to the blog. Even added the garlic to the soup one.

I’m hungry and don’t know exactly what I want for dinner. It would probably help if I actually made my way to the kitchen.

The recipe I referred to is a kinda ritzy version of clapshot, Bumba, as it includes wine. Not making it till tomorrow, though, cuz I want something quick. I’m thinking I might eat one of the cheese and chile tamales that I have in the freezer. And mandarin oranges.

Guess I’m hungry enough to wander toward the kitchen.

Back later.

Ok, it’s officially Firday night cause the neighbors on the other side of me are out in their backyard fightin’! Ol’ y’all know who and I were on the back porch quaffin’ a beerverage when this round started. It reminded us of an old Mad Magazine song spoof by Alfred E. Neuman. Some of you older mumpers may remember this… google is our friend… I can’t believe I found this!

She Lets Me Watch Her Mom And Pop Fight

HEE!

in honor of the day:
“…and really bad eggs.”

… aaaaand we’re back. We had a nice dinner, got our WalMart crap, then our Lowe’s crap, and now we’re home chillin’. I’m thinking I need a Toasted Almond. Yeah, off to spin up that blender.

TGIF!!

Yarrr, me hearties! I’ve been enjoying my time off so much, I nearly forgot that today was Firday, can you imagine that?!

My daughter and I were able to make our way to a Michael’s Craft store okay and are stocked up on yarn now. I also got some supplies to make earrings with. I don’t know how that’s going to turn out, but the stuff at Claire’s lately hasn’t really been appealing to me. And that’s about what I can afford to spend on earrings. I tend to lose one earring, unfortunately! We then had lunch at Boston Market, which wasn’t too bad (I had the 1/2 roast turkey carver combo), if a bit pricey. At least it’s real pan roasted turkey breast, and they have a cranberry orange relish you can get (buy LOL) that made the sandwich really tasty.

Tomorrow we’re venturing out again. Sunday will definitely be a day of rest, me thinks.

sleepy time now.

sounds like a plan

YAY! It’s the weekend!

Empanadas stuffed full of leftover picadillo beef are in the oven, kitchen has been mostly de-messified, and all that’s left to do is eat food and then deal with the sinkful of dirty dishes that magically appeared as I was cooking.

Hmph. Seems the dish fairy is slacking (actually, he’s watching The Simpsons downstairs is what he’s doing).

I also made some salsa verde to go with the empanadas, but apparently the jalapenos I bought were very random in their spiciness… I tasted one and it was quite mild, so I decided to use three for the full batch of salsa. Bad idea. It turned out a little (actually, a LOT) on the spicy side! We’ll just go easy on the salsa.

I have totally got a recipe for the Blog. I call it:

Fake Chicken Noodle Alfredo

1/2 pkg egg noodles
1/2 14 oz pkg frozen broccoli florets, or fresh
1 lb chicken boobies, diced in bite size pieces
1/2 onion, diced
4 oz 'shrooms, sliced
1 clove garlic, minced
1 can condensed cream of chicken with herbs soup (or whatever you’ve got)
1/2 cup milk
1/2 cup grated parmesan
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella
1/4 cup chopped parsley

Boil water and add noodles. Halfway thru cooking time, add broccoli and continue cooking recommended time minus one minute. Drain.

Meanwhile, saute chicken with onions, mushrooms and garlic until chicken is done. Season with salt and pepper. Add soup, milk, and cheeses, and combine well until melted. Stir in noodles and broccoli. Stir in parsley.

Everybody loved it, even my cheese-hating Dad.

'Ullo, all. Am home from work (finally).

There are just some pts whom you cannot do anything for, ya know? Especially when you’re told that an adult pt (by the pt’s mother no less) cannot swallow liquid medicine, won’t drink cold liquids, is allergic to Advil but NOT Motrin–I could go on and on. (supposedly it’s the coating of the Advil that this pt is allergic to. Symptom when experiencing this “allergy”? upset stomach.)

I really wanted a wet trout.

Basement still stinks–I really don’t want to do what I have to do tomorrow. Ugh.

Didn’t read–sorry. Off to bed soon.

Evening everyone. We had fish fatalities and the water was smelly. I was concerned that the one pump and filter system just wasn’t enough and I was right. So, **Mr. Taters **went and got a bubbler stone and an under gravel filtration system. The water has lots of movement and plenty of oxygen for our remaining fish. In all, we lost our two parrot fish and both of our plecostamus. We lost a rainbow shark to one of the oscars, but that’s to be expected. The other four were not expected. Anyway, the tank has been cleaned, set up again, and is now looking beautiful.

Mr. Taters also threw out the live plants. One of them wasn’t looking too healthy anyway.

It’s odd, in all the years we had fish tanks we never had problems like this. Of course, in the past, we always had an undergravel filter system in addition to the big pump/filter system. We should have gone with our gut feelings in the first place.

Dinner is cooking in the oven. I’m hungry and can’t wait until it’s done.

Other than that, there’s nothing much exciting going on.
