Tales of Michigan MMP

Arrrr, my head tis spinning today. My season tickets haven’t arrived. Feels like Monday. :checks date: Hmm.

Norwegian Blues? Beautiful plumage.

rigs, he’s allergic to trout, you’d have to beat the halibut out of him instead.

swampy, one of the neighbors has a chee-hoo-ah-ah. It’s suitably psychotic.

Sean, we’ll forgive you your absence. This time.

I’m not Sting and nor are you…

That’s my adapted lyric of the day. Don’t ask.

Sox WIN!
Twins Lose!

This isn’t really rambling, is it?

And if it is, whatcha gonna do about it?

Today, on Classmates.com. I found a girl that was a girlfriend in high school. I really really really liked her. I’d even use that other “L” word. I wrote to her about 7 years ago, just to howdy. She’s happy, I’m happy - there was no agenda, and it was cool talking to her. I’m kinda hoping we can get there only more so. We live pretty cloce, and before anyone starts sounding alarms, there is NO WAY it’s going anywhere like that.

I just always felt she was a blast to be around.

Hmmmmm… Wife says talk to her, she said her picture looks like she’s a lot of fun. I said they have a lot in common personality-wise. They’re both…um, straightforward and upfront. (code for a bit obnoxious but in a good way)

Ah never mind, I’ll wait to hear.

Tomorrow - gym, then zoo with a bunch O’people, Sunday - tailgate then football!!!

**GO BEARS!!!
**

Sunday is hockey. W00T!!!11one! Go Canes!!!

The Bestest Quick & Dirty Cookies Evah!

Procure an extra-moist cake mix, preferably yellow cake, but not mandantory. We used a Duncan Hines Extra Moist Yellow Cake mix tonight, they were on sale.

Mix the cake mix together with 1/2 cup veg oil and 2 x-large eggs. If you don’t have x-large, use 2 1/2 medium or 3 small.
If it’s too dry, add a little water 1 Tbsp at a time until it’s gooey.

mix in a big handful each of at least 2 kinds of dried fruit - we used dried apricots, dried cherries, and dates tonight, and would have put coconut, but we were out.

Mix in a big handul of chopped pecans.

Mix in a big handful of semi-sweet chocolate chips. You can use milk chocolate if you like, but I won’t be responsible for the consequences.

Add anything else you feel like, within reason.

Drop by big spoonfuls onto a cookie sheet, about 3 inches apart.

Cook at 350 for about 9 to 10 minutes, depending on your oven.

Eat.

Morning. My laptop is still acting wacky, so I won’t both to post everything I wanted to say until it stops losing the wireless connection every 30 seconds (not exaggerating).

Have a good day, everyone!

**MBG **- I’ve reconnected with the first love of my life, at least on line. He actually tracked me down about 7 or 8 years ago thru Classmates, and we’ve IM’d on and off ever since. What I’ve found interesting is that he, my other formerly serious bf, and my spousal unit are all very similar physically - same height, same build, sporting facial hair… I’m sure that says something about me.

Anyway, ex-bf lives on the other side of the country, but it doesn’t really matter. He’s changed a *lot *since he and I dated (and I’m not just referring to the 4 marriages, the 5 kids, and I’ve lost track of how many grandkids  ) so even if we were next door neighbors, whatever we shared is long gone. I don’t know if there’s a point in there, but it’s early, so cut me some slack… :stuck_out_tongue:

I mostly slept thru the night, but fidgeting critters shortly after 6 managed to roust me from my blanket nest. It’s low 50s outside, which means it’s probably in the 60s in the house. I’m thinking we may have to start closing some windows at night. And it won’t be too long before the storm windows go back in the screen doors. Autumn starts Monday - can winter be more than 3 months behind?

Today is painting day. Tomorrow morning, we’ll move all the kitchen cabinets and the flooring downstairs. And all the remaining tools and junk upstairs. Plus more painting. There is a light at the end of the remodeling tunnel! YAY!!

I’m hongry. Wonder if my sweetie will take me out to breakfast or if I’m going to have to forage in the pantry?? Won’t know till he wakes up.

Happy Last Saturday of Summer, one and all!

I was awake way too long last night. Woke up at 5:30, but managed to fall asleep again. Yay! Up a little too early still, but…nap later.

Added all those nice recipes to the blog. I’m pretty sure I didn’t miss any, but please check.

Off to start the day.

Happy Saturday!

GT

Up. Feel totally cruddy. Every joint hurts.

Can I get a blog linky- lost mine.

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. No real plans for the day. Nowhere I need or want to go, so I’m thinkin’ it’d be nice to just chill at da cave. Ol’ y’all know who is still snoozin’ and I have a feelin’ he’ll think the same way. I’ll take some brats (the sausage kind) out of the freezer for lunch and get a couple steaks out for dindin. Easy cookin’ that way even.

Ok, off to search for more caffiene. I might even stir up some bacon, aigs and grits.

Later Y’all!

Feel better soon, Soapy!

Yay! It’s Caturday! The floors are vacuumed, the bedding’s changed and the laundry’s done. I’m just having a cup of tea before heading into town to do exciting things like collecting my watch from the mender’s, getting my boots re-heeled, buying girlie necessaries, going to the library to indulge 'im indoors and his latest foreign fantasy, and then possibly do a bit of idle shopping.

Tomorrow I’m off to see my doting parent - she emailed yesterday to say that she needs to do grocery shopping (she waits until I visit with the car so she can stock up on bulky items), the garden centre for compost and the train station to book tickets for our trip to London. We’re off to see the Hadrian exhibition at the British Museum next month but mother likes to get her train tickets booked well in advance. That’ll be so she can put them “somewhere safe”, I expect.

On the plus side, I don’t have to cook at all this weekend so that means I get to be ever so slightly lazy. I have kind of promised myself I’d clean the kitchen worktops though. Better make the effort, right?

Up, caffeinated, off to work. Hopefully off tomorrow.

Mumper’s recipe blog link. I’m adding it to my sig as well.

Off to make some oatmeal and clean out the fridge. Not at the same time.

I just made some Martha White brand chocolate chocolate chip muffins for breakfast. They were waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too sweet. Yikes! Well, that probably means that they tasted just right to TVMan. He has an incurable sweet tooth, at least for candy.

Just wanted beebs to know that I implemented his suggestion about what to put on my laptop. :stuck_out_tongue:

Good morning. Coffee is brewing, and I’m sort of awake. I need to take my daughter and her car down for an emissions test so we can transfer title on it.

So, I’ll slurp some coffee and get ready to go. Just once, I’d like a day where I didn’t have to do anything or go anywhere. After the emissions test, it’s back down to the DOL or contractor DOL for title transfer and registration. After that, I’ve got other errands.

I’m going to have to take part of MOnday off so we can get the books for my daughter’s classes. She needs nine books and finally told me so yesterday. Arrrrggggh! Classes start Wednesday!

I guess that’s all I’ve got for now.

Hugs and smooches to all.

Howdy, all. Not much to report from here. I’m up, and off to get a haircut in an hour. Otherwise, it’s a dull & boring day of doing the work I screwed around and didn’t do yesterday. Which is okay; Papa Tigs has to work on annual reviews all weekend anyway, so it’s not like he’ll be good company.

Swampy keeps naughty children in his freezer?

gt, you need to remove the quotation marks from your sig to make the blog link live.

BooFae, I learned years ago that when it comes to tickets, there is only one safe place. I have a fireproof box I keep important documents in, so the minute I get things like that that I’ll need to find later, in they go. It’s the other stuff that’s not as important that I put somewhere for safekeeping that I can never find again. :smack: Can I come to London with you, pretty please? I’ve not been since I was 3 years old, and I don’t remember much, alas. I promise I’d be real good!

Feel better soon, Soapy!

Off to get a little something constructive done before my haircut. Toodles!

**Yellow **has been painted. **Green **is about to be started. SIL will be home shortly and he’s going to be priming doors - he doesn’t know this yet…

With luck there will be pics tonight or tomorrow. Gives ya sumpin’ to look forward to, eh?

Well, back to work. The walls ain’t gonna paint themselves.

I haven’t done a damn thing all day, and I’m not about to start now…

Mornin’…or afternoon…whatever it is now.

I’m chatting it up with some friends on AIM while I wait for my clothes in the dryer.

Hawkeyeop has gone for a haircut. (It’s about time!) When the clothes are done and he gets back, I think we’re off to get groceries and bookcases. Can’t ever have too many bookcases, right?

FCM Yellow, Green and Purple?? This is one COLORFUL apartment.

Ok, so the internet is working a little bit better (fingers crossed). So let me tell you about what I saw yesterday. :frowning: It was a horrible car accident and I’ve described it below, so don’t read it if you don’t want it playing over and over again in your head like it is mine.

I was coming home from a crappy shopping trip on a 4 lane road where the speed limit is 45 mph. One of the two vehicles involved was turning onto a side road and the other appeared to be coming out of the side road, I’m not sure which was which. At any rate, one was something that looked like a Honda Civic, or anyways, about that size. The other one was a motorcycle with a man and a woman riding on it. They collided head on and the people were literally catapulted at least 8-10 feet into the air. They weren’t wearing any helmets, but I honestly don’t suppose that it would have mattered. The way it all happened, I wasn’t sure that it was real. I literally had to look twice because they looked like ragdolls or crash test dummies the way they crumpled to the ground. It was one of the most awful things I’d ever seen. No, I didn’t stop. I wouldn’t have been any help anyways, I probably would have just sat there and sobbed. But there were several other cars stopping as I went by. I’ve been trying to find out if there’s anything in the news, but I can’t seem to find anything. As it is, I’m not sure if the area is part of one city or another township.
