Woo hoo look at me!!!
I have a question about the Deadly Yard Bird. Is the bacon edible or does it just lay there limp and stuff?
I think I am the only MMper, if I am even an official MMMper, that hasn’t made the world famous Deadly Yard Bird.
So, Wednesday it is. Deadly Yard Bird and those damn good N.O.T’s are on the menu.
Any other suggestions?
The bacon crisps up, Shermi.
I know some people found it er…lacking, but I didn’t use precise measurements for the herbs/spices. I dump in what I think will be good. Actually, one of the times I prepared it, I used garlic powder too. It was a mistake, but it turned out alright because I added a slight bit of garlic salt as well.
Thanks Taters,
I think I will use bone in thighs and omit the nutmeg…Sorry Rigs… I hate nutmeg…I’m thinking garlic, onion, and fresh parsley…A green salad and crusty sourdough bread…MMM
I cannot sleep. This cold is messing with my brain and I’m having some sort of strange anxiety attack. :(
I am just getting over my cold Pie…Benadryl to sleep and nyquil for cough worked great for me.
Hope you feel better soon
Big Hugs (((((((PIE))))))))
Thanks, Sherm.
Unfortunately I need to be awake for an early breakfast in less that 3 hours now. Not a good time to take sleepy drugs. I think I’ll borrow a klonopin from my mother and see what that does.
Breakfast at 2 am eastern time? Good luck sweetie.
I’m thinking desert and bedtime here. Buenos nachos.
Well, not exactly. It’s about 4:30 here now. Breakfast is being served at 7 a.m. I feel like hell. The klonopin allowed me to get a teeny tiny bit of sleep. Now I just have to try to function like a normal person for about 2 1/2 hours and then I can come back home and go back to bed again.
Very early. Hello, night shift!
Morning.
Must locate caffeine.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’ here. Soon I will purtify and be out the door for work. Hopefully I will not sneeze my face off today. I am however, all stuffed up. I hate ragweed!
Ok, one more cup o’ caffiene.
Later Y’all!
Good morning!
The power came on across the street last night around 9:00 pm. You should have heard the cheering!
One neighbor didn’t know - I knocked on his door and told him to turn on his lights…
There was a bit of drama in the 'hood yesterday. I let my dogs out to play with the little boy of the former owner of Ernie. They ended up running down the street aways, so I got in my car and went after them. They were playing with this one dog Skipper. His owner, Alan, was outside visiting so I stopped to talk to him for a bit.
This guy on a motorcycle comes speeding down the street, and we both holler at him to slow down. He stopped and got an attitude saying he lives in this neighborhood, too. We said, “There’s dogs and kids everywhere! Slow down!” At that time, Ernie had gone out of sight around the corner, so I decided to get him and take him home. I called, “C’mon Ernie! Before you get run over.” Then I went around the block and back home.
I went in the house. My husband comes in later and tells me somebody got a gun and 6 police cruisers were in or near Alan’s house. I hope he didn’t do anything stupid. He also said, that before that, the guy was looking for me to talk to me! So I don’t know what exactly happened, but something definitely went on.
I talked to my sister-in-law in Pearland, and they still had no power. We’re taking them our generator, and some ice and water and milk and juice and stuff. I don’t know how much of this is still on the national news, but there is widespread damage, and power outages. Last night they were saying 3 out of 4 customers had no power. People are lining up for hours to get ice, water, and MRE’s from FEMA. It could be weeks! : shudder :
Y’all keep sending good thoughts down here, and to the Midwest. I saw the thread on Ohio - we aren’t hearing much news of that here.
VWife, who is waaaay old enough to know better, always has ‘maragine’ on the grocery list.
Hey! Membership in Mensa only means that once, many years ago, I passed an SAT style test with flying colors - It doesn’t mean I know what the heck I’m doing at any given point in time (especially when I’d only had one tiny cup of coffee…)
Up since 5:30 or so. Been doing a general pick up and put away… That felt good.
Off to make NOL and get ready for work. I think I have 20 minutes to do that in…

Given the amount of nerds I meet at Mensa shindings, the Spanish branch would see that as a wonderful opportunity to try and Turn Some SciFiers over to The Dark Side; they’re pretty much on the Dusk Line already. One of the biggest requirements for a proper Mensa Meeting (not a weekly meeting, but one involving renting beds - using them is not compulsory) is lots of tabletop games, card games, someone or sometwo or somethree GM’ing introductory table-RPGs…
And the shrinks could go and try to figure out the nature of intelligence and why so many nerds are good at “join the dots” tests! Yay!
The closest I’ve been to Michigan was Carbondale, back in '98. The friends I was visiting there were amazed that I loved the landscape in the area, I pointed out that they didn’t think it was pretty because they saw it every day. Does Cdale still produce more crackers per year than any uni in the States? It sure seemed to, ten years ago. Taking that bus trip from Orlando to Cdale (changing buses in Ahlanter) was one of the best decisions of my life, I got to see a lot of things that you simply don’t see from a plane and, since I wasn’t driving, I was able to actually look at them. Red barns against a background of beautiful trees and paddle boats turned into casinos and downtown Ahlanter and fields with different kinds of stuff growing in them, 'twas cool.
LiLi, does “morons” count as an ethnic group?
Rebo, stay well. The rest of you too!
I’m looking at flats to move. My current lease is over at the end of October and, while the place is OK, basically I took it because most other places wouldn’t rent to a self-employed foreigner with no local credit history. Now that I have a credit history, local bank account etc, I may be able to find a place without carpet everywhere. More space would be nice too, it’s not so much that the place is small (which it is) as that it’s got more stuff than it was designed for.
Well, ok, the current place doesn’t have carpet everywhere. The bathroom and kitchen aren’t carpeted.
Blurf.
Gorgeous photos, SmartiePants. Looks like a great time was had by all, despite the sashes and whatnot.
Also, I think I might have to add Mt Hood to my list of places to visit someday when I have both time and money. That’s a mighty pretty piece of the planet, even if it’s only half as nice as your photos make it out to be.
Oh, and Sherm… you’re not alone. I’ve yet to make Death Chikkie, since it’s got enough saturated fat and sodium to knock me dead and earn its name twice over. I’m waiting for one of my “screw health food, gimme a bucket of lard” moods to make it.
OK, time to drag my half-asleep self to work. Tah!
Morning. Had to make an emergency run for coffee this morning. My Aunt and Uncle from Michigan stopped by last night.
Hi welby!
{{{{{Pie}}}}
Hi
Full crisis mode at work. Again.
Later… [/driveby]
It takes some willpower to pull it off; don’t eat the rice and bacon. Dead Chikkie is Teh Yum solo.
Blurf X blurf. Brekkied and caffeinated for the day.
Rebo, I learned how to administer IVs and draw blood this past weekend. If you want to give up 10 more vials, I’d be happy to draw it for you. Anything to get under your skin.
I still don’t understand why we have to draw blood. It’s not something we do on the ambulance as a general practice, and when the Troopers want it done for a DUI, it’s supposed to be done by a paramedic.
:dubious:
Oh, a braglet. Y’all know I’m trying to extend my sveltification. Yesterday, after several weeks of yoyoing, I hit a local low of 240 lbs. At this rate, I may well make my goal of 199.5 just about the time I plan on retiring in 19 years.
