Tales of Michigan MMP

I’m finally chillin’… Let’s see:

Get up before 7 AM.
Take kids to school.
Continue to work – where crisis mode ensued. Work for nearly 10 hours without a lunch break.
Rush home to take son to D&D, then continue to pharmacy, jeweler’s (to pick up a few of the wife’s necklaces I brought in to be repaired last week) and to the baker’s for a cake.
Get home, cook supper for all.
Rest for 30 minutes, then go pick up son from D&D.

I. Am. Tired…

And I still have to take the dogs out around 22:30 (that’s in just over an hour.)

And I swear this is a normal day, lately! :smack::rolleyes::frowning:

Needless to say… I haven’t even skimmed; sorry.

A-choo!!!

BLESS YOU CUTIEPIE!!!

Supper tonight shall be leftovers from Sunday lunch cause I wanna clean out the fridge. Thus, smoked chicken, N.O.T. salad and deviled aigs shall be eaten. I made a green sallit also just so’s I can say there’s a green veggie. Tomorrow I shalt slack less in the cookin’ department and make pepper steak served over rice.

I have never seen Niagra Falls from the Amurrkin side, just the Canadian side. Just thought I’d throw that out there.

Special1 you need some chill time.

Thank you.

Well. I need to stop whining about my day.

Holy cow.

And Pie- check your CD drive for chicken soup. I make a really good one, too.

I am sorry because I left out the paprika. And for not making myself clear. Not to worry, though, Mr. Anachi will sprinkle some on it before it goes in the oven.

Ye Gods! You people sure can talk up a storm! It’s really nice to see so many familiar names, but I spent over an hour reading to get to this point and prolly don’t remember half of it!

This is by way of an expiriment, incidentally. I don’t know if I’m back for good or not. I’m already way too good at finding ways to not do what I’m s’posed to be doing.

Now for the OP:

I was born in Lansing at a very early age and lived in Holt until I was 4, when my parents moved the lot of us to Pensacola, Flory-Duh.
Spent a lot of summers at my Grandparents’ farm in Morley, though. (Just south of Big Rapids.) There are parts of the state that I like very much, but the middle part, and Detroit, aren’t any of them. Unfortunately that’s where much of my family lives. I could very happily live anywhere in Michigan that’s close to one of the lakes, though.

I’m not gonna comment on everything, (how could I?) except to say that i googled Death Chicken and got a link that says it originated with The Sweet Potato Queen. Is this where you got it? I’d try it, but I’m out of bacon at the moment. Maybe later.

I just goit through reading the Wedding Blog, and I have to say Smartie, you are one heck of a writer! I felt like I was there. I even teared up at the end. I’m so happy for you and your family.

I’ve been a bit of a slug today. I fixed breakfast, and washed up the dishes. I took the plants back outside and watered them. I went to the store for the rest of the weekly groceries, and actually got everything I needed except Gatorade. That’s it.

Hopefully things will get back to normal very quickly. I’m actually ready to go back to work, if only to hear everybody’s Ike stories… I’m so nosy.

Afternoon, all. Gezundheit, CutiePie! That was a loud sneeze, I could hear it all the way over here on the Right Coast!

Bumby, you don’t need to read or comprehend the MMP to be an active participant. Heck, just dive right in at any point and it’s fine. That’s what the rest of us do, why should you do any different?

I’m tired just reading about your day, Special One. It’s no wonder you haven’t been around much lately, if this is the kind of life you’ve been leading. It’s a good thing you’re still young enough to survive, I’m afraid your schedule would put me into an early grave!

I worked a bit, washed my hair just so I could sit out in the lovely cool breeze in the back yard and dry it, ran a few errands, and am now home again telling myself to get back to work. I guess it’ll happen eventually; but it’s just so pleasant to have the windows open and breathe all this lovely real air that it’s hard to get motivated. Unfortunately, I also don’t care. C’est la vie, right?

Quit O’Clock! WHEEEEEEEEEEE! throws confetti

Hey, bumba’s back (at least temporarily)! You may not remember me 'cause I joined the MMP shortly before you left, but I remember you being here way back when. So welcome back.

I really wanna go home ‘cause it’s super nice out, but I’m waiting for ONE stinkin’ little process to finish. That’s taking forever. Ugh. Finish up you stupid thing!!! I wanna go home!!!

Oooh, first on 4! Yay!

Dinner:

Soapy’s Pasta:

2 carrots, sliced in half moons
2 stalks celery, sliced
2 small leeks, sliced

1 tsp dried oregano
2 zucchini, sliced in half moons
garlic, minced

0.5 pound baby spinach
handful fresh parsley, minced

28 ounce can chopped or crushed tomatoes, and juice
14 ounce can cannelloni beans, with liquid

Small pasta like ditalini.

Saute in olive oil the carrots, celery and leeks for a few minutes. Add zucchini, garlic and oregano. Saute for a few minutes longer. Add spinach until it wilts by gently folding it into the mixture.

Once wilted, add tomatoes, beans. Add as much water to get to the consistency you like (stew like or soup like). Simmer few minutes. Add parsley and black pepper. Simmer 25-20 minutes.

Cook pasta. Serve over pasta with a drizzle of olive oil and parmigiano cheese.

It’s like eating good health- it tastes so fresh and good and it is so satisfying!

Adapted from Sundays at Moosewood.

Pork chops are in the oven. I think we’ll have rice with them.

Deposition tomorrow. Ugh. It was canceled due to the lawyer getting into a car accident. I just want it over with.

Practice:

I don’t know.

I don’t remember.

I’m sorry; I don’t recall.

Again, I don’t remember.

No idea–can’t remember.

Lather, rinse and repeat…

They’ll make up for it by selling two of everything for lesbian weddings.

I got churchified by working today. I spent six hours going through Whiskeypalian church records (and found out it’s the church ArchiveBossLady goes to). It took me far to long to figure out what a rector is. :smack:

Todeshuhn is in the oven now. Toy Roommate said she wanted stuffing tonight. Complicated is up in the mountains for the next couple of weeks.

I really should be theisisizin’ right now. goes to look around internet some more

It’s Bumba! Wow! They really are crawlin’ outta the woodworks this week! Yep, Chicken O’ Death is from Sweet Potato Queens. rigs told us that’s where it came from. You must immediately run out and buy bacon just so’s you can make it. It is that important.

Supper was nummy. All the leftovers got used up. YAY!

I will be JoeDawg’s nanny starting Firday. His daddy is goin’ to the beach for a week. I’m sure JoeDawg is already dreading the idea of the strict regimen he’ll have to follow for a whole week, poor thing!

ETA: Spaz Sexton is not as fun as it sounds either.

Welcome back, Bumba, dahlink!!! MWAH!!!

**taxi **- SIL is 10 years older than daughter, and much less mature, although we’re working on that with him. I don’t think his mother expected a lot of him, but we do, and he’s rising to the challenge.

All the sanding is done in the basement. I was going to start painting the ceiling, but I decided to do that tomorrow. The kids are taking our Brit guest to the airport - she’ll be home in the morning. My sweetie and I are being bums tonight. Life is good.

Is it Firday yet?

I just put my name through the Sarah Palin name generator. Just call me Hose Hotrod.

Swampy, I will do NO SUCH THING! You, however, may refer to me henceforth as “Mustache Warthog.” Hold your applause, please! :stuck_out_tongue:

Aw, shucks, DoRe! You made me blush now… Glad you enjoyed it!

Wanna see something really, really cool? My sister sent this picture of a quilt she’s entering into a good sized contest–isn’t that amazing? Even more amazing is that she dyed her own fabric for it–this is some seriously good work. She’s just beginning to think she might be good at this…:smack::dubious: She’s the retardedly self effacing one in the family–middle children, they usually need a smack upside their pointy l’il haids!

ETA: Too bad photobucket won’t let me keep that first pic the original resolution, because the friggin’ hand stitching on that thing is AWESOME!

Smartie!!! That is an amazing quilt- though I’m more fond of traditional styles, anyone can see she’s got serious talent.

And the fabric is gorgeous!!!

Here’s a photo I took this morning outside my window- the sky was a gorgeous pink. The photo doesn’t do it justice:

morning sky outside my window

All those pics are wonderful!
We’re bathed, Nat’s in bed and just shut up, and pur place is the sort of complete disaster that says, “Four days with only one person home at a time, with baby, and not enough sleep.” Very nice. In fifteen minutes or so I will try to dig up the energy to change the sheets, put the toys away, and tidy the kitchen. I’ll stay up until Mr. Lissar gets home, but by Grabthar’s Hammer, I’m going to bed by ten at the latest.
Oh, and hi, Bumba! If you’re still doing soap I want a bucketload!
