So, I had my mid-year evaluation today. Went great. Doing a bang-up job. We’re tops. I rule.
But I’m losing my job at the end of July. Our program is being rolled up with a similar one in Kentucky, and they’ve decided they can’t justify keeping my office open.
We’ll see what they say after they have to send flunkies on a 3-hour trip just to do field work every other day.
Prospects? None right now. I’m 32, and I just want a permanent, career job. This contract/term/subcontracting science shit is for the birds.
Anybody need a slightly used, but experienced GIS/database/field biology/geography guy? I can do it all, from species ID on down to contracting and study design.
Ogre, may I suggest looking at some federal wildlife biology jobs at http://www.usajobs.opm.gov ? My good friend has been looking for jobs in this field recently and I have been helping him. I have seen tons of good jobs on this site mentioning all of the above: GIS/database/field biology/geography.
And Snowy Owl, thanks. I am definitely looking through the federal jobs as we speak. I currently work for the National Park Service, so I knew to look over there. I’ve already seen a stack of jobs I’m going to apply for.
