Tall people

Conan O’Brian is 6’4".

“Barron Trump, TFG’s youngest son, was 6’7” at 15. He’s now 16 but I don’t see a new height."

I wonder who his dad is. A pretty tall guy apparently. How tall is Melania?

Best known for masquerading as a xenomorph, Bolaji Badejo was 6’10".

She’s 5’11”

(And the other Trump boys are tall, too, even though they have a different mother. Eric is 6’5”, and Donnie Jr is 6’1”. Even Ivanka is 5’11”)

I worked with 2 guys that were both 6’6" or 6’7". They also had the same first and last names and weren’t related. Or so they said.

Like Chamberlain, Manute Bol had a side career playing basketball. His main pursuit in life was extending charitable and humanitarian services to his home country of Sudan. In order to raise money in this regard he took out a jockeys’ licence for a charity race. At 7’7" Bol became the tallest jockey ever licensed by the Indiana Horse Racing Commission.

There’s a photo below. I was going to ask people if they could pick out Bol from the others, which would have been easy for North American basketball fans but slightly more difficult for others. However the photo caption helpfully identifies him, so that’s ruined that.

Someone has tall genes to pass on! I see that Ivana, mom of Ivanka, Don Jr and Eric is 5’8"

Janet Reno could look down at her from her 6’2" advantage.

Video from the POV of some tall guy:

That is brilliant! There are times when I am on the step stool and wish I could just stay that height.

Yeah, but then I board a plane and I’m grateful I’m only 5’9".

Dolph Lundgren is 6’5". And surprisingly (considering his career) he’s very bright:

“Lundgren’s aptitude for chemical engineering propelled him to scholarships around the world. There was Washington State University, Clemson University, Sweden’s Royal Institute of Technology, the University of Sydney in Australia and, ultimately, a competitive Fulbright scholarship to attend MIT.”

ISTR a story about the tallest man ever, who was over 8 feet, and that he drove an (old-style) VW Beetle.

He removed the driver’s seat and drove from the rear passenger’s seat. (Unfortunately, I couldn’t come up with a cite in a quick Google search, so the story may be apocryphal.)

That sort of thing was a gag in the first Police Academy movie.

She’s the one that always surprises me. She doesn’t appear tall in any role I’ve seen her in, and it’s only at awards shows and in photos with other people where I’m always surprised at how tall she actually is. Seeing the Jumanji promotional photos where when she’s wearing heels is nearly Dwayne Johnson’s height always causes a double-take.

That’s actually a real thing. My wife is the same height and regrets the decision she made to get standard height counters when we had our kitchen renovated. Another couple of inches or so would have made things a lot more comfortable when kneading dough or rolling it out or whatever.

Those guys didn’t have to be that short actually. My grandfather was a gunner/flight engineer on B-17s, and flew top turret on his own crew, but flew as a substitute/replacement on other crews sometimes, and he generally flew ball turret on those because he was short enough at 5’7".

I’m 6’3" and it would be nice to have a bit taller kitchen counter tops. But my Wife is 5’1"…

Schrödinger’s person.

Wasn’t he really heavy too? I wonder how much he weighed?

Maybe set up a large cutting board or marble sheet that could be propped up on something to raise the level of the countertop?

I wish… she likes to use the entire thing as a workspace when she is making pie crusts or something like that.
