"Tank for Tua" OR The 0-16 NFL Season Thread (2019 ed.)

Even simpler:

Last Place for Chase

The Jets are actually on a bit of hot streak right now. It’s winnable for the Bengals, of course, but right now at this moment the Jets are about even with the Browns.

And the Bengals win. They had a chance, but noooooo, they just had to beat one of the other shitty bottomfeeders.

One more win for the Bengals and the Giants have a strong shot for #1 pick.

One of the saddest things I’ve ever read (about sports).

Giants were mismanaged for so long by a dolt of a GM, I’m don’t mind if we manage to pull off a complete collapse this year. They need to get a lot better and hopefully fast.

They kicked the shit out of them too.

…are you… do you mean… are you talking about Jerry Reese? He… he won two Super Bowls. I’ll grant that the 2007 one was mostly Ernie Accorsi’s team, although Reese drafted the Giants leading rusher in the Super Bowl with a 7th round pick.

But the 2011 team was on Reese. He drafted Hakeem Nicks (at the end of the first round!) and Mario Manningham (in the third round!) and found Victor Cruz (Victor Cruz!!). Again, he drafted Ahmad Bradshaw. He drafted Jason Pierre-Paul in the middle of the first round. He drafted Aaron Ross and Linval Joseph.

I mean, I’m not going to argue that Reese was an all-timer, or even that he was better than Ernie Accorsi. He made some bad calls, and probably should have been fired before he was. But “a dolt of a GM” is a fairly stunning thing to call a guy who brought two titles to the Meadowlands.

When you fail, year after year to address the lines, you have failed as a GM. So yes, I am talking about Jerry Reese. How is it everyone knows success begins at the lines but he didn’t. He hit some big home runs but forgot to keep the foundation intact.

I would rather have a GM who failed year after year to address the lines and won two Super Bowls than a GM who addressed the lines but didn’t put together a winning team. I don’t care how he did it; he did it. Twice! Did you not… I mean, did you not enjoy that?

Panthers fire Rivera after 9 seasons

Panthers owner David Tepper on Ron Rivera firing -- 'I thought it was time'

True, but I do feel like we mainly had Accorsi to thank for that. But I guess I am being too hard. Just, how did he keep ignoring the offensive line especially for so many years?

Down here, it is now Joe Burreaux.

Bengals with a 2 game lead over the Giants. Hell yeah!!

I think the Skins may have the 2nd pick currently. Leave it to the Giants to win this close to the finish line.

Current draft order through Week 15 is:

  1. Cincinnati
  2. Giants
  3. Miami
  4. Washington
  5. Detroit

Does anyone think Burrow will be a Bengal?

so everyone won at least one game this year ? although i wonder if tuas gonna be in the draft after the reent surgery he had to have …

Burrow should absolutely be a Bengal. The Bengals may mess it up and do something crazy.

Thereby furthering Fitzpatrick’s goal of playing for all thirty-two team in the NFL before retiring.
