Your weekly placeholder is here
From Dubai to Indonesia…and goats! Elephants! And someone-I-won’t-name desperate enough to cheat on a task. Hint: It’s not who you think it might be.
I take it there’s a game today…?

No game in the DC area at least so it will start on time!
Looks like it will be starting on time where I’m at. Yeah, the previews for this week sure look interesting. I’ll be curious to see how it actually plays out.
Well, the previews already showed a possible cheating try (tho I don’t think it was cheating if it ends up as it was previewed) by Team ER wife.
After the big Holy Roller reveal at the beginning of the episode. I’ve disliked those two all along and now I really dislike them.
Wow, Travis is a dick. No wonder she was so desperate to get it right.
Jay & Amy are the only likeable team left.
I hadn’t minded Travis and Nicole, but between the smug Christianity, the attempted cheating and the utter dickishness, they’ve just moved below Pinky and No Brain as my least favorite team.
I liked Travis & Nicole at the beginning of the season, but starting last ep with the morality U-turn (I don’t care that you u-turned the Afghanimals, guys, but OWN it instead of blaming it on your high moral standards) and continuing this one with the sanctimony, hypocritical attempt to cheat, and utter dickishness on Travis’s part, I’m done with them. I’d rather Pinky and No-Brain (who isn’t really stupid, just a little dim…and way nicer than Marie) win than these two.
Afghanimals should be flagged for taunting. They do it in the NFL
Team ER has bugged me a bit for a while. Too smug in their “We’re special people” attitude. Been low key about till this last two weeks, but it’s been there.
Huge mistake by the couple helping team Er on the last task.
At this point of the race theres no helping anyone.
Fighting for final four and go and help a team that has beat you several times for first place is simply not good strategy.
Travis and Nicole: I’ve been hesitantly liking them all along, and until this episode, I couldn’t put a finger on why I felt that way. They’ve always struck me as people who set very high standards for themselves, and probably, until now, haven’t had to fight very much to stay on their pedestal. The race has now turned serious, they feel threatened…there you go.
That said, I couldn’t believe Nicole had so much trouble with the musical instrument roadblock. I would think noticing the sizes of the tubes would be the first clue, so…???
The Afghanimals are not only dicks, they like to stir the crowd in order to proclaim their dickishness far and wide. Enough, OK?
A few weeks ago Nicole made a mistake making a fishing net (I think) and she felt she had to apologize profusely, which I found weird. Now I know why she was so apologetic.
*HE’S *embarrassed? He should be embarrassed of his own behavior. What a dick!
Anyone have any idea about the greeter? I’m guessing some kind of iconic Dutch Indonesian comedic figure (based on the Europeanness, the costume and the facial expression) but I have no idea.
Travis is a passive-aggressive dick, but Nicole is the absolutely worst problem solver in race history. In the fishing trap task, she didn’t even try to replicate the correctly built trap, she just put it together any old way and was going to try to pass it off as good. The worst thing is, she knew it was wrong, but just didn’t feel like she had to follow the rules.
This time she just turned into a quivering mess. She had the diagonal rod with the notches to hold the musical instruments upside down! How can you do that? All she had to do to figure it out was to look around and see how others did it (very easily). She seemed to think that there was a magic secret to constructing it when all it was was tall to short. Hasn’t she ever seen an organ before? A set of chimes? A xylophone?
I think if I was in the ER with a gunshot wound and she walked in, I’d go ahead and wait for the next available doctor.
This may sound like a silly question, but why is considered cheating for Nicole to look at the finished instrument? Teams always look at other teams during tasks to see how they are doing it. Yes, it may not be the most honorable way of completing a task, but it’s certainly legal as far as I understand.
Zev Steinhardt
Yeah I couldn’t figure out why she was having such a hard time with that task. There couldn’t have been more than a dozen pieces to assemble, and three teams figured it out before her. If Amy hadn’t laid all the pieces out for her in order, I believe they would have been the last team to the mat.
I wonder if Nicole is literally tone-deaf. She’d had it put together correctly on her very first try except that she had the octave out of order. And she didn’t seem to understand a freaking SCALE, which I would think is one of the very most basic musical concepts there is (if you don’t worry about tempering and other nitpickety things). She didn’t seem to grasp the CONCEPT of a scale. It was like they all sounded alike to her and she couldn’t attach any context to it at all. Which is just weird.
Travis and Nicole made one of the dumbest decisions I’ve ever seen on TAR. “I’m the musical one but we are so far ahead, we’re going to let her do something she knows nothing about.” :smack: But I didn’t care that they screwed up after the “we have morals” speech.
Seriously, if you can choose a team to compete against you, why on earth would you choose the ER docs over the ice queens. Strategically, that’s a horrible decision.
Plus, today we learned that while apparently letting divine light shine through you means that you can’t lie while you crib off of other people’s work, gossip, and act sanctimonious.
