TAR 11/24: "Part It Like The Red Sea"

The greeter’s bowtie was loose and off-kilter the entire time they were standing there, until it was fixed before the blondes arrived at the mat. I wonder why a producer didn’t tip the guy off earlier that he looked sort of clownish like that.

I didn’t get the impression the taxi driver objected to the sugar cane too strongly; I heard one of the girls say “that won’t work!” when the other suggested they just stick it through the window. I think they screwed themselves with that one.

I hate the Afghanimals’ showboating. If I was competing against them it would drive me up a f’in wall. And you’re really playing with fire when you’re in a foreign country and you grab a small child to pick up in a bear hug and spin around. If I was that kid’s dad I’d have to let him know this with a swift jab to his nose.

That may very well be the point of it. It certainly rattled Nicole. Likewise with Marie’s constant yelling at Tim. It doesn’t upset him at all, but several teams have commented that it bothers them. In the speed-date task, it seemed to catapult them ahead of the other teams.

That really was a bit of a surprise, to see how Nicole completely collapsed under pressure. Also, the callous behaviour of Travis could be deemed as somewhat of a reaction to pressure, of a different sort.

The Afghanimals I have kind of gone back and forth with. Some weeks I’ve found them far too cocky, bombastic, even egotistical. Especially their stupid high-pitched yi-yi-yi-yi thing. And other weeks I find them almost loveable-losers (sorry to be shallow, but they look like losers, to me) just really enjoying the shit out of this race.

Amy is an absolute goddess.

Ice Girls were cute, and did well; had a great attitude and were kind of fun to watch.

I think this has been a very good season. There have been some likeable teams, some teams that are annoying, some that have flip-flopped from week to week. There has been some, but not overmuch drama between teams, and between team members. Some interesting challenges, some interesting travel.
