Who will it be? Do Hellboy and Rebecca have a chance? What about Babe and Baby, oops, I meant Jon and Kris? Will Kendra eat something ELSE that will make her whine? Or will Haten and Aaron “We put the FUN in dysfunctional!”) pull it off and win?
Well, the way this season has gone, I’m predicting there’ll be some bunching near the end, and it’ll come down to a footrace.
That said, I’m thinking that the finish order will be:
Kris/Jon
Aaron/Hayden
Freddy/Kendra
Adam/Rebecca (eliminated half-way through the two hour episode)
Of course, just a little bit of luck, good or bad, can swing the balance to any of the teams… except maybe Adam and Rebecca. They’ve had just enough luck to not be eliminated so far, but I don’t think they’ve got the smarts or stamina to actually win.
However, remember that Hayden has to do both Roadblocks, so that should be interesting, given that at least one of them is probably a face-first rappel or something.
Yup, everything would seem to point to Adam and Rebecca dropping out first. They are clearly the weakest and most dysfunctional team. Of course, if season 3 actually existed we would know that wasn’t exactly a barrier to winning.
I’d like to see Kris and Jon win, only because I am tired of seeing non-stop bickering as a driver of the race, rather than an occasional backdrop. Maybe with their win coupled with Chip and Kim last time more people will get the hint that non-stop fighting is probably a detriment to ones chances.
Predictions of things we will see tonight:
I think Hayden will ultimately cost her team the victory.
Adam will freak out on something again and in the aftermath his team will misread something.
Freddy/Kendra and Kris/Jon will be at the top of the pack near the end. Kris and Jon will win a navigation race to the mat.
One can only hope that they still think they’re playing Survivor, thus making a stupid mistake, and get eliminated early. They don’t need another million dollars; let others get a chance at it.
At this point in the race, I’d be almost sorry to see Team Hellboy go. I think I’d rather see them win than Hayron or Frendra at the finish line. But my money is on Kris & Jon.
That wouldn’t be completely around the world - they started in Chicago this time. AFAIK every other race has crossed every line of longitude and some have crossed over. The finish point this time has to be Chicago or east of it.
This time, there have been so many bunching incidents, with a promise of more, that it’s a dice roll to predict the winner, and I ain’t gonna do it. Kris and Jon are the only nonobnoxious couple left, and even they have had moments, so I’ll root for them.
Wonder if Gus will take his shirt off in the applause gantlet leading up to the final Pit Stop?
Come to think of it, TAR could do much more with the Losers’ Line in the final eps than they do. Picture one final roadblock. Something like a fraternity initiation - picture the Stonecutters’ “Crossing the Burning Desert”. Each contestant has to put on a blindfold and go past each loser, one by one. They each will be armed with wooden canoe paddles, emblazoned with the logo of the current major sponsor, and will have as many opportunities as they wish to use them as they consider appropriate. The winners will be the first to stagger onto the platform, if they still can. To get their official win, they have to tell Phil “Thank you, sir, may I have another?”. The Dungeonmaster-looking guy from Budapest, specially flown in, indulges their wish, and only then do they get the cash and the American Airlines vacation.
You with me, CBS?
You know, even though I’ve seen every episode but one of this season, to me, the remaining contestants are still “Adam/Rebecca” and all those other people. Everyone else is just bland.
Man, after 5 seasons of being treated like a leper, it sure is refreshing to see such positioning of TAR on CBS’ homepage!
I can’t wait for tonight.
The key question at the beginning of the episode will be: If you were a tourist or business person in downtown Shanghai, would you give cash money to someone begging for it…who looks like Adam?
I agree that Hayden’s requirement to do all remaining Roadblocks is going to be a liability, especially with her deathly fear of heights.
My money’s on Kris and Jon, unless the cab gods refuse to smile upon them again. They compete like a well-oiled machine.
This season has been sadly weak and I have to say that I’m glad to see it go. Let’s get a new crop of racers in here!
There are two fundimental problems with the season and the first is that the racers themselves weren’t that great. TAR has had problems in the past with teams not being distinctive but this season it’s been really bad and the teams that stood out have all been eliminated except for Team Completely Disfunctional. And we had way too many teams to dislike this season and not nearly enough teams who are enjoying racing and are interesting people.
And then there were the legs which were really a mixed bag. The bunching seemed to be way to heavy this season (a bit more use of staggered provided transportation could have helped that) and there was very little tension in most of the tasks.
So I’ll tune in tonight to finish off the season, but I’m hoping that TAR7 will be a huge improvement…
I hadn’t been keeping track of that and was wondering if one team had a member who would have to do both. That will be interesting. I hope she does freak out on something.
I’m hoping Adam and Rebecca get left far behind in China and Kris and Jon win it all.
If Kris and Jon don’t win, I’ll be disappointed. They’re my Ideal Racers: people who aren’t letting their personal dramas take over their enjoyment of traveling through different countries and being in the race. Which is why we still know nothing about them, and explains part of why they’re a little on the bland side, but I’ll take bland and happy over whining and total dysfunction.
