That may be do to rank. Heck, I have an assistant that is damned good at her job and better at it than I am, but do to rank, she is my subordinate. (I haven’t been trained on the new equipment I have to work on so its not like I’m just crappy or anything). Worf and Yar could both be LT’s but Yar may outrank him with time in grade. (I think at the start of TNG Worf was a Lt. Junior grade and Yar was a full LT.)

You’re assuming here that Gaeta would be able to maneuver Spock into such a position that Spock would be blown out into space, while Gaeta remains safe. This is a bad assumption. If anything, the reverse is much more likely.

What does it mean, “Hong Kong Action”?
