Tax question

Hm, I would have dug up that ask the Tax Guy thread, but didn’t want to bump it, so here’s my question.

The deed to my house and the mortgage is still in my maiden name (we bought the house before we were married). Everything else (I think) has been switched over to my married name, SSN included.

Is this going to be a problem when I go to do my taxes? Last year my taxes were filed after I was married, but before I had changed my name on my SSN, so they instructed me to list both names. Do I still need to do that just in case?

Are there any other problems this could cause?

I’m going to get it changed ASAP as I didn’t realize it wasn’t changed until we were going through paperwork.

Thanks!

If the 1098 you receive from the bank reporting interest paid uses your married name, then it would be safe to use just your married name on the return.

If the 1098 lists your maiden name, it would be a good idea to have a ststement attatched to the return with an explanation or to list both names.
