Scrolling back through her feed, most of the crazy posts happen about at the time she did the stabbing. Before that her posts were much less often and typically just a link to something with little or no comment on it.
Yeah, she definitely seems a bit off balance. Thing is tho, you know how certain you are that the ground is solid, ice is cold, cats are perfect creatures, etc.? The delusions of a psychotic are just as real to them. That doesn’t excuse anything. Not the woman for harming her kids, and not people dismissing her as as a defective object that should be denigrated and disposed of, rather than helped. At least for her condition there are medicines and therapies, should she or anyone else feel compelled to employ them. Those who judge though, and see only the actions with none of the context, I’m not sure what can be done for them.

I am aware. And often the ones suffering violent impulses will be primarily self-harming. But if this is all real and not intentionally affected as a defense, it looks like a spectacular breakdown.
My uncle was schizoaffective, unfortunately he actually could be a harm to others. At one point he was forcibly medicated. He attacked a police officer.
It’s hard between this thread and the other to see such skepticism of psychosis when you have seen the devastating impact on your own family.
My uncle’s first psychotic episode was at age 19 and it really was an all-at-once kind of thing. Probably triggered by psychedelics I’m guessing. This was in the 70s. One minute he was muttering about his poisoned mashed potatoes and then running around shouting about aliens shooting microwave beams into his head - and yeah, the tinfoil hat is a stereotype for a reason. My uncle was a math genius and psychosis destroyed his future.
But severe mental illness runs in our family. My great-grandmother was institutionalized and my grandmother raised an orphan. My Mom’s batshit insane. My husband thinks she has delusional disorder, which is a mild form of paranoid psychosis.
This is why I have never experimented with drugs!
I understand the impulse to want to hold psychotic people accountable for their heinous actions but it doesn’t square with my life experience. My uncle didn’t have a firm enough grip on reality to be meaningfully held accountable for his actions. He was the kind of guy you avoided if you saw him on the street.
Of course in this case, it does need to be established that this was the result of a psychotic episode. But I’d say the odds are pretty good. Those posts look very much like psychosis to me.
