CO/CO2 buildup. I had this happen to me once and ended up with one helluva headache! (Fortunately, nothing worse.)

Why would the CO/CO2 build up as long as they had a flame going? Most houses aren’t so tightly sealed that running the stove for the little bit it took to cook the food was going to build up a dangerous amount of gas. My mom has had gas stoves all my life and never had a vent fan and we are still alive.

So how did Debbie afford a nice house in Pasadena when her husband abandoned her and Howard?

Why didn’t Howard go to Home Depot and buy a generator?

Has it ever been mentioned that Debbie had a job? I don’t recall.

The burning generates CO/CO2. If your kitchen is well-ventilated, it’s not a problem. If it isn’t, you can get quite sick, as I found out to my chagrin.

I think you’re confusing natural gas (methane) with the products of its combustion.

Perhaps she bought the house a while back? Perhaps she inherited money from her parents?

Her husband vanishes, she keeps the house and maybe whatever is left in their joint bank account?

Investments, family money? Probably went to work until Howard became gainfully employed?

Howard was paying rent until he moved in with Bernie, so that probably went a long way to keeping them afloat. I imagine he contributed in other ways as well.

What happens when you have someone declared legally dead? Are you eligible for any government benefits?

I see they are moving it to Monday next week to accommodate the NCAA basketball tourney on Thursday.

Its a repeat from earlier this season.

Really?

Bummer.

I hope it’s one I haven’t seen.

Well, it’s SoCal. They could open a few windows.

Especially if you don’t open the door.

could 8 people eat a freezer full of food and be stuffed at the end? that was the show.

if less food would be used then all the freezer door open and pile on the counter would be potentially wasteful.

now i suppose piling it on the counter would allow to pick out the best stuff to concentrate on, avoiding the cake and foreskin.

But how much would the food have partly thawed after twelve hours or so? Enough to be unsafe? If the freezer was just full of store-bought food, I’d have tossed it.

BTW, I was slightly bothered by the large container in the freezer of matzo ball soup. So if Howard was ill, would his mother have thawed the entire container (perhaps a quart or two) just so he could get a serving of soup (perhaps two cups)? It would have made more sense to freeze individual servings of soup.

…maybe it was TURKEY bacon…

Maybe she would have made him eat it all. So, nu, it couldn’t hoit

The bit about Howard being happy to realize Bernie sounds just like his Mom was forced - didn’t he realize that the day they met?

She first started talking like that on the episode where they were at the hospital after his mother passed out on the toilet, and he thought it was sexy.

Now, it would seem, he’s finally realizing that she sounds just like his mother. Which has, of course, always been part of the joke. He just failed earlier to put two and two together.

I laughed when they referred to the kugel as lasagna.

Jewish lasagna!

No, the first time was when Bernie was bringing him breakfast in bed in his old room, and she and Mrs. W. shout back and forth. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eI4qhluSwaY

For me, the funniest part is that he fell in love with Bernie before he even heard her sounding like that. He thought he was avoiding a trap, but he was heading into a very similar one. His middle name might as well be Oedipus.
