It looks really really good. And the villain they chose looks promising too. Having said that, the very beginning part, I think it doesn’t leave much room for Mary Jane NOT knowing that Peter Parker is Spiderman. But I got goosebumps watching it. I hope it kicks ass.
Haven’t seen it yet, hopefully it’ll premiere with ROTK here on the weekend. I’d rather see it on the big screen.
But yeah, Doc Ock is far more promising than the travesty that is the Green Goblin. Stupid Sam Raimi and his affinity for the Power Rangers.
I’m starting to think that the only reason Spiderman was so successful is that someone finally took the subject matter seriously and put a big budget behind it. NOT because of the changes Raimi made, or even the way it was told/directed.
We’ll see what happens with Spiderman 2, Doc Ock better not have organic tentacles dammit.
I’m kinda curious why he’s wearing glasses, since he stopped wearing them early in the first movie. Then again, in this trailer he’s only wearing the glasses during the restaurant scene with Mary Jane, which vaguely suggests to me that this footage will not be part of the final film.
In any case, Doc Ock’s tentacles are similar to those of the sentinels in the Matrix movies, which I take as a good sign because the sentinels scared the crap out of me.
The guy in the Air Force uniform is almost certainly John Jameson, J. Jonah’s kid. As part of a romantic triangle, I could sort-of-maybe see that working, but why would a famous astronaut (if the movie plans to include that element) be dating a struggling actress instead of an established star? Is Mary Jane’s career going to take off in this movie?
If there’s a third movie, I’d like to see Flint Marko get tangled up in a nanotechnology experiment gone awry and be transformed into… the Sandman!
There is no “Felicia” character listed at the imdb entry for this movie, so I guess you’ll have to wait. It wouldn’t surprise me if the decision whether or not to include this character will be influenced by the success or failure of the upcoming Halle Barry Catwoman movie.
They’re not. they’re big kick ass fully articulated metal ones with grabby claws on the end. And he’s walking about on them in the trailer.
its looks more promising than the 1st one, which I thought was mediocre.
Not without seriously changing the story. I’ll bet they go back to basics and make it the Return o the Green Goblin - or perhaps they’ll conflate Harry and the Hobgoblin.
I dont see why not. while a secret wars film would kick arse, i’m sure they could come up with a viable script solution for how he gets the black suit, loses it and Eddie Brock gets it.
I’m not too keen on the idea of the Goblin return. The amount CGI will have advanced by the 3rd film, say 2007, they could comfortably do the Sandman or Hydroman.
When I went to the movies during Thanksgiving break, I saw that the poster for Spiderman 2 had a spider logo on it that looked a lot like Venom’s. It certainly wasn’t Spidey’s normal logo.
At least I’m pretty sure I saw it… It’s not coming up on any google search…
I always kinda liked the Shocker’s costume, as well as those of the Rose (Kingpin’s son who wore a white tux and lucha libre-style mask) and the Prowler (probably a big influence on Spawn’s design).
It would make sense for Harry Osborn to become the Hobgoblin in a future sequel, especially so we don’t have to see that awful Green Goblin costume again!
Is anyone else having trouble watching the trailer? It’s very halting and jerky and I’m on a pretty fast computer with a t1. Why the hell couldn’t it have been in Quicktime?
If JJJ’s astronaut son is indeed in this second flick, and is actually an astronaut, I’d lay heavy odds that a set-up for Venom’s appearence is gonna be seen.
(Whether or not there’ll be a third movie, and Venom’s actual role in it, is a whole 'nother issue.)
Since there’s not gonna be any plausible way to work the Secret Wars into the movie continuity, Venom’s symbiote will come to Earth attached to either a fallen satellite, or John Jameson’s space shuttle/re-entry capsule/what have you.
I’m just WAGing, of course, but in the early 90’s Spider-Man animated series, Venom was introduced this way, and it worked pretty well. I could see this idea being used in the film version, or something similar.
[sub]Unless of course Doc Ock’s secret lab hideout/lair is destroyed during the second film, and the combination of exploding electrical equipment and spilling noxious chemicals manages to create a new life form in the rubble. I’ll take Stiltman, or possibly even The Spot over that.[/sub]
