When referencing a link to another site, how do I change it to read whatever I want it to such as -----THIS LINK, or LOOK HERE instead of hhtpp///wwwbla bla bla abracadra. com
Thanks, dopers

You could always RTFM
Alternatively, you could post this sort of question in About This Message Board
RussellM
I now hang my head in shame after being severely chastised by the apparently all knowing RussellM for asking a legitimate question in the GENERAL QUESTIONS BOARD.
Unfortunately, dumbass that I am, I’m too illiterate to know what RTFM means. Perhaps you could Try using some F’n Manners and not be so full of yourself.
If you’re asking how to do it on this message board, just do:
{url=“http://www.site.com”}LOOK HERE{/url}
Just replace the {} with , and make sure there are no spaces within the square brackets.
If you want to do it in HTML, do this:
<A HREF=“http://www.site.com”>LOOK HERE</A>
Read the … er … Friendly Manual. Often used when someone asks a question that is clearly covered in the operating instructions.
Hey now, be nice to RussellM! You have 280 post to your name, surely by now you must know which is the appropriate forum (it ain’t this one).
And he answered the question anyway, by providing a link that explained everything…
A description of each forum is included on the Home Page, which includes these gems
A brief search through any of the moderator’s posts will yield an impressive selection of closed / moved threads. It would appear that posting in the wrong forum is treated as a problem.
I am a little surprised, and flattered of course, that you consider me “all knowing”. I must humbly point out that the information I gave you, answering your question, was readily available for any who could be bothered to look for it.
Just in case you still don’t understand, this was not a legitimate question for GQ.
RussellM

Just in case you failed to notice the sarcasm in my voice 'cause I didn’t spell it out for you, I didn’t mean to imply that you were all knowing. I meant to imply that you are a you-it-all with on overinflated opinion of your opinion.
I believe it is the moderators job to decide what is appropriate for each column. I admit that About this message board may have been a more appropriate forum but I also think it was not such a grievous error as to warrant all this fuss. Couldn’t you have just answered the stupid question and been done with it instead of acting on the urge to correct me on my bad manners?
For Chrissakes lighten up.
You want me to lighten up?
I suspect that if you continue in this puerile manner you will be moved to the pit rather than ATMB.
I was not generating any fuss - you asked a stupid question, and I told you where you could (should) have found the answer. You took offence.
By the way, what is a you-it-all ?
RussellM
Since the OP has been answered whether the question referred to VB or HTML, I’m going to close this thread. Please feel free to continue your, uh, discussion in the Pit or to make up with each other in MPSIMS.
Thanks.
