…or plonk-file, or ignore list, or whatever.
Does one’s use of this ‘feature’, which presumably complicates database queries, slow down the performance of the SDMB by any appreciable amount?
Given that it doesn’t actually ignore messages in the manner of a Usenet or e-mail killfile, e.g. completely eliding the offending posts, but displays them with a substituted ‘this poster is ignored, etc.’ message (the generation & insertion of which would comprise yet ANOTHER step), the ignore feature seems as if it’s a lot of trouble and effort. A technical negative in exchange for a dubious-at-best positive.
I’m using it, but if it’s having any negative performace effect on the board, I’d just as soon go back to NOT using it…
Would any of the mighty SDMB tech-support staffers care to comment?
TIA!
