I put spike wheels on all of my later critters. It seemed to me that herbies with spike wheels were more likely to survive attack.
The eye thing I haven’t figured out yet. Most of my carnies have compound eyes.
We need to keep working on this.

Well, the rotini are still not impressing me much. Although a_Nutjob_SDMB is starting to kill, wimpy herbies like this are still escaping.
One of mine, I’m afraid. And li’l StraDoMeBoI has bitten the dust too. Oh well.
On the bright side, Junkfood_SDMB (2393876) is up to 5.01 ms (whatever they are) and still growing.
Irk_SDMB finally gave birth!
Irk_SDMBI made it to age .3, and was killed by it’s dinner. You win some, you lose some.
Irk_SDMB immediately ran out and knocked up Abby_SDMB. Woohoo!
All of my little Herbies churned out a bunch of kids all of a sudden. A few days after giving birth, my favourite of my critters, feisty herbie Fire_SDMB, perished horribly. Funeral services will be held on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Logan_SDMB, true to his namesake, has been mating with everything in sight. I wish he would just get knocked up again so he’d stop being the village bicycle. Actually, a quick review of the events of all of my critters reveals that they’re all a bunch of whores. Must be springtime.
Furro_SDMB(2379649) is up to 5.08 MS at 0.88 years old. And he’s got two grandchildren on the way!
Negativland_SDM(2549590), one of my carnies recently had sex with Munch_SDMB(2482941). Was it good for you, too Munch?
The many decendents of my original herbivore Bosda still thrive in the Sphere.
Haven’t run into any SDMB creatures lately.
Has anyone had a herbie killed after it reached “3ms” in size? None of my herbies that have exceeded 2.5ms in size has been successfully attacked, and that seems to be the threshold of safety.
Paul_SDMB is at least 3.3 meters long now, and he’s killed at least nine carnivores. They’ve only given him credit for seven, though. He’s a killing machine!
My ping-sdmb killed & ate one of the Stupidity_SDMBs a while ago.
Woohoo. Connecticut_SDMB_VII has finally been born! 7 generations. Took just about forever.
So please don’t eat it. It’s too cute and cuddly and oh so docile.
My carnie something (2396502) mated with three different abby_sdmbs between 10.5945 and 10.6028. Does that make it incest, or is he/she/it just one lucky little carnivore?
There’s a whole clan of them. I think of them as siblings if they’re created at the same time. (Usually a litter of a dozen at a time.) Separate groups are cousins or beyond.
Well, a_Jesus_Freak finally bit it, after nine kills. He tangled with a size-large herbie, and was stomped to death. He is still my most successful carnie to date. Grazer04_SDMB is fat and well, and a_Nutjob_SDMB is actually killing things now and again.
Has anyone had a baby carnie make a kill?
Tranquilis,
I was just about to reply that none of my carnies lived long enough to reproduce. As of yesterday, none had—but I thought I’d better just go check first, and it seems that Reaper_SDMB(2583755) is a daddy now! The little tyke, BlackBushI(2595271), was just born, but he’s already been in a scrap. But the prey escaped. So no, not yet…
In other news, the mighty herbivore Furro_SDMB(2379649), now ancient, is a whopping 6.02 ms.
I’ve had three baby carnies at this point, and they seem congenitally stoooooopid. The first got stomped right out the gate by tackling an herbie 12 times his size. The next oldest hasn’t gotten killed, yet, but insists on hunting 2MS+ herbies, and has gotten either ignored, or slapped, each time. The youngest hasn’t done anything yet, and may live the longest of the baby carnies.
I’ve had three idiot babies attack much larger prey, but none of them have made their first kill yet.
I’ve had about 15 baby carnies and none have lived past 0.12 yet which generally has a size of 0.20ms. And none have killed anything. I keep hoping they’ll sneak into one of those massive baby herbie packs and go wild but no luck.
Thankfully they’re born with a full stomach. And hopefully they’ll eventually stumble upon some left over meat. Or better yet be close by when one of those 8ms herbies drops dead from old age. They can eat that too.

I haven’t kept up on my creatures since the board crash, but I’ve discovered that of my 12 creatures, 1 carnie has survived and done fairly well.
punkrock-sdmb is 0.75 years old, 2.98 ms large, and has had 3 children, one of which got eaten.
