Because it worked out so well for the Russians and the British. But any day now, it’ll be “hearts and flowers”. Any day now. We just have to keep going. Yep.
Speaking of the British: former London Mayor, would-be Tory Prime Minister and carefully-cultivated-affable-goofball-persona’d Boris Johnson took umbrage to President Obama’s comments encouraging the UK to stay in the EU. Johnson commented that Obama’s removal of a bust of Churchill from the Oval Office was due to an “ancestral dislike of the British Empire”.
“Some said” that, apparently.
Boris insists that the comment was entirely about British colonial history but for some strange reason, some over-sensitive people thought they heard dog whistle overtones in the phrase “part-Kenyan”. I can’t imagine why. I mean, it’s not like Johnson has ever used questionable language with racial overtones before.
(Incidentally, Obama did return a bust of Churchill - and a bunch of other art on loan to GWB from Tony Blair - to the UK at the beginning of his presidency, but as the first link notes another Churchill bust belonging to the White House is being kept in Obama’s own residence.)
To add to this, Cruz will have had poor showings in all of the states that matter in November. In a typical election year, a party would be wise to nominate the candidate who has had a strong showing in states like Florida, Virginia, Ohio, and Pennsylvania. That hasn’t been Cruz.
They can work together if they want. That doesn’t mean Donald Trump and his supporters will accept the outcome of a convention floor fight. I could totally see Trump and his voters revolting and forming a third party just to sabotage the GOP. And if they did it, November would be an absolute electoral bloodbath for the republicans.
They can’t even manage their delegates, you think they can get on the ballot in 50 states(or even 20 states), before deadlines, starting in July? That takes a lot more organization than is possible for that crowd.
Depends on the state and the deadline. Getting on the ballot requires some serious organizing, as well as spending money. Trump has refused to do both, and his rabble is not organized enough to do it on his behalf.
“How can he <blank 1> when he can’t even <blank 2>?” generally means 2 is a lot easier than 1. Vetting hundreds of delegates then shepherding them through 50 different delegate selection processes is not an easy task.
Quite honestly, I don’t see how Kasich thinks he can trust Cruz to follow through on this. If, following Indiana, Cruz feels it will be to his advantage to make an effort in Oregon and New Mexico, then he will, and he won’t think about his promise for more than a split-second.
As much as I think Cruz is untrustworthy, he has nothing to gain from double crossing Kasich. Cruz is already mathematically eliminated from winning, his ONLY chance is a contested convention. He’s a slimeball, but he knows tricks, and he knows he will gain nothing from double crossing Kasich.
I have it on mute. I am confused as to why everyone, including the camera person, turned to look at the guy who appeared to be measuring the height of the basket.
Cruz was trying to make a point about the height of the [del]hoop[/del] ring was the same in Indiana as in NY. What that proves I have no idea as I also engaged the mute.
Well, then you missed it. It proves that Hoosiers can do anything! Without that, its no wonder you didn’t catch the drift. Sort of ties it all together.
