Ted Cruz Presidential campaign discussion thread

Must be one of those mysterious ways.

Or God was playing a prank.

Stolen from Twitter: Cruz only brought on Fiorina to downsize his staff.

Meh. Matter of degree. (Democratic) Socialists come to government authoritarianism honestly - thorough elections. Communists take it by force. Sanders isn’t a take-charge kind of guy. He would if he could, but he ain’t that guy.

Yes, it’s terrible how the Democrats are considering a populist with unrealistic policies as a serious contender for president. You’d never catch the Republicans doing something like that.

Also rather funny to hear the Dems accused of potential authoritarianism just after the guy who wants to allow the government to investigate anyone who criticizes him got handed the GOP nomination on a plate.

Paraphrased from an old Onion headline: “Cruz’ prayer answered. “No,” says God.”

He will return, sleeping, dreaming, to his house at R’lyeh, until strange aeons.

Texas orphanages should double-check the locks on their doors.

I think the word you are looking for (based on is -6 net favorability) is

DETESTED

Did you see this confrontation between Ted Cruz and a Trump supporter on the street in Indiana? The guy calls Cruz “Lyin’ Ted” among other insults.

Ted Cruz, “America is a better country.”
“Without you,” the guy replies.

Heh. Cruz thinks to himself “maybe I don’t like America so much”.

I almost felt sorry for Ted Cruz. But then again, I’ve heard worse about him from members of Congress and other high-ranking members of his party. He’s got to know that he’s widely disliked.

I think the word is “universally”.

Ah, now the classic tweets,
Shouldn’t #TedCruz have been forced to carry his nonviable campaign to term?
(not that he was ever in any danger of getting an actual term)

Worse yet, God apparently wanted him to mount a massive campaign effort just so he could get schlonged by Donald Fucking Trump. God, like everyone else, must really hate Ted Cruz.

That interview is interesting. The protesters get in a few good zingers and well placed spout offs. Through it, Cruz remains civil, polite, calm, and focused on target. He addresses comments and claims and directly shows how the issues they say are important, Donald has been on the side they don’t like.

Such as the Wall, where Donald said to the New York Times he wasn’t really going to build a wall and deport millions of illegal immigrants.

Or when the protester says that Cruz wants to “carpet bomb women and children”, and Cruz puts him on the spot that he added the “women and children” part because that is what will happen. Cruz points out that it is Donald Trump that actually stated he wants American soldiers to target the wives and children of the terrorists, and when asked during a debate what will happen when American soldiers don’t want commit a war crime, he said he would order them to do it and they would do it. Then Cruz points out he said carpet bomb ISIS and terrorist camps and oil fields, not women and children.

But edited clips make it look like Cruz was pwned. As a debate, he won it hands down. Of course the protesters were less interested in facts and more interested in showing up Cruz and putting him down. I doubt any of his comments got through to any of those people.

Nitpick: Carpet bombing ISIS would mean bombing women and children, because ISIS has embedded themselves in civilian populations. So, the answer to the question, “Which candidate is a would-be war criminal, Trump or Cruz?”, the answer is: both.

As always, you cannot reason someone out of a position he did not reason himself into.

That is terrible.

I mean how you don’t know what a Communist is yet still attempt to speak authoritatively on the subject.

Given Ted’s confusion over terminology I’m not sure he really won any sort of debate.

It’s a common tactic of the more hawkish to pretend that the enemy we’re fighting will line up nice and neatly on the battlefield and that all we have to do with drop more bombs (very precisely) on them and then we’ll win and the current guy-in-charge isn’t doing that because he’s too much of a bleeding-hearted wimp who loves terrorists rather than because the whole concept is based on utter fantasy and the real situation is far too complex to be resolved by just bombing the shit out of somebody.

But hey, how about those protesters? What’s up with those guys?

I actually felt bad for Ted there. You are right… he was calm and level-headed while face to face with ignorant grunts hiding behind cheap sunglasses.
