Hey, don’t go bad-mouthing Frito pie! It’s one of the few things Texas ever got right.
I thought Frito pie was a New Mexico, er, delicacy.
You are not making any sense.
Just as there’s no Constitutionally possible way to for Texas secede, so is there no feasible way to end the Electoral College or the overrepresentation of conservative voters in the Senate. Theoretically that’s possible, but it could never happen with the state-by-state ratification requirement, what with Wyoming or South Dakota having as much say in the matter as California. And “packing the court”, as Cruz puts it? Trump has done that already; it’s his signature achievement as far as his base is concerned.
I see a country with irreconcilable differences that will not much longer hold together.
When that same majority keeps voting in turds like Ted Cruz, who make it impossible for the rest of the US to get anything done, then yes, I suspect a lot of us don’t care.
The subset of this majority who aren’t voting for Cruz et al. are welcome to move to a different state.
I’ve been told part of this is the ridiculous redistricting Texas does.
Not for Cruz (R - Cancun). Senators are elected at-large.
I’m not for giving Texas or any state away. I’m for booting out the perpetual malcontents and insurrectionist out by shoving them into the ocean by Brownsville. If they ask really nice, I might provide a boat.
You’re welcome to provide the homes, funds, and jobs to make this possible
We’ll do home swaps with all the MAGAHats who want to move to Texistan.
Seems to be one of those that think that the Democrats/liberals want to recreate the Soviet Union, or some other willfully ignorant trope. Anything to the left of Saint Reagan is Communism, after all.
Yes, this is never going to happen only an idiot would think it could. The vast majority of this thread is devoted to why its a inanely stupid idea that will never happen. But its still worth discussing because we have reached the point where a sitting Senator can express such an unworkable and anti-patriotic sentiment and be cheered by his constituents. That what should have been willful premeditated political suicide may actually boost his standing. This doesn’t tell us so much about Cruz, who is also smart enough to know that his plan is impossible. But illustrates the horifying reality that many people, possibly even the majority of the ruling minority party do think its a good idea.
If he doesn’t like it here, he should go back to Canada.
Why would they let him in?
Pity but understandable. Maybe Cuba would take him.
He doesn’t have much of an idea of the capacity of the port , nor much of an understanding of the issues at hand with logistics either, in fact I think it is safe to say he is mostly talking absolute shite.
Houston has seen container storage time go up from 3 to 10 days and still rising, due to the same issues they have in california, namely not enough rail units, trucks, drivers or trailer units to get the stuff out so it will sit in the heat and humidity instead of just heat.
Last year houston did about 3 million TEUs against boulder plate capacity of 3.4 million, so there isnt a lot of slack in the port, it is a big port but deals with a lot of bulk goods .
For comparison long beach and LA will do 20 million
NY/NJ 9 million, Savannah 6 million and Seattle Tacoma 3.7 million.
Dallas,si, but not Amarillo. I’d hate to lose route 66. And the Big Texan steakhouse. Theye can have the panhandle (isn’t it really more of a pan? amirite?) but the country gets to keep I40 and route 66.
The maganuts can’t even finish a wall, you think they can build a canal? ![]()
I think it would be hi-larious watching them try.
Someone would fundraise $15 million from the rubes to build the “canal”, and then take off with the money.
