The money isn’t a big deal, but the time certainly is. When it comes down to it, that’s the “distance” part of a long distance relationship.
Certainly possible. I still see Amsterdam guy as a one-night/day fling. I doubt we see him again.

Definitely. Well they could have her sell the club and move to Amsterdam for a simpler life but I think Dutch dude has served his purpose.
Oh yeah, I forgot to mention. The joke I want, so they probably shouldn’t do it, is to have boat dude show up in London, and be “I live on a boat, I just sailed up the Thames and parked by Tower Bridge…”
Yeah that’s spot on.
Watching Rebecca’s visceral emotional reaction to the psychic telling her she’s going to have a family and be a mother and then saying “It’s just a one hour flight” doesn’t compute at all. Whoever she ends up with, they have to all be together.
I don’t know if they are done with the Dutch dude, but I sure hope Rebecca doesn’t sell the team in order to find happiness in a family and as a mother. I mean, that’s not exactly a great message to be sending and it certainly isn’t a boss ass bitch move.
I agree and him uprooting the daughter to England isn’t a good look either.
I likely missed it, but did we ever get confirmation that the daughter is still alive?
No. No suggestion that she was not and that the room was a shrine either. Explanation for marriage end was her cheating. If no explanation offered stress after death of child would be in play more.
Not to let real life intrude, but what does Rebecca DO all day as the owner? Why does she need to maintain a day-to-day presence in the home stadium/town?
Given her wealth and position, splitting time between London and Amsterdam would be far from an insurmountable hurdle. And there was no info I perceived as to the restraints on the Dutch guy’s time.
I’ve known several people who enjoyed fulfilling and longlasting relationships provided their schedules were flexible enough and their bank accounts large enough to allow frequent travel back and forth.
True. For us proles, getting from London to Amsterdam takes several hours, but if you can afford a private jet, it’s not that significant a commute.
I’m sure owners vary in how hands-on they are, but I don’t think there’s any real reason they would need to be hanging around the office on a daily basis.
And miss the daily biscuit?
I think it’s because she cares about the club (after season 1, anyway). She enjoys the hands-on aspect of running it day-to-day. She gets satisfaction from being an active boss. And not least, because she values the family she’s made with them all.
I mean, after they got relegated, she could have said, “Mission accomplished!” sold the team and retired to Tahiti. But she’s not that person anymore. She realizes that they’ve all created something special together and I don’t think (IMHO) that she would want to distance herself or minimize her involvement in that.
…Rebecca isn’t getting together with the boat-man. They had a wonderful moment. But then moved on. I don’t think the show is supposed to be a fairy tale. Last season I was convinced Roy and Keeley would end up together. But how this is playing out seems much more realistic, and much less toxic than if they had remained together. Roy will probably end up with the teacher. And those two were good together.
And Rebecca and Boat Man aren’t fated to be together. I don’t think that’s what the show was telling us. I think obviously Rebecca could find ways to make time to have a long-distance relationship with him if she wanted too. But she doesn’t even know him. Her life doesn’t have to revolve around a relationship. Around a man. It was a fun evening that could have lead to something but didn’t…life moves on.
I agree with you it doesn’t necessarily have to end up with them together. One way of looking at it too, with finding the child’s bedroom, is the idea that she doesn’t necessarily have to bear a child to become a mother, so that whole experience opens her up to more possibilities in the future.
Meanwhile this week’s didn’t do it for me.
I did like that Nate did NOT spit in the mirror.
Something like dick tether soccer could go a long way in making the sport more popular in the US.
I thought this week’s was pretty good. I loved the finishing scene especially.
I thought the episode was okay, but the red string section was just stupid, way too cartoonish for my taste. And Keeley’s story is barely tied in with the rest of the show; at least on “Park and Recreation” the writers regularly found excuses for Ann Perkins to hang out at city hall.
This was a good episode. Nate is slowly getting more and more confident without having to resort to being nasty. I thought for sure when the diorama got crushed he’d run away, but he asked her out anyways. Seems West Ham is still doing good.
The red string thing was juvenile, but see Roy giggle kind of made it worth it.
And then Jamie realizes that the thing to make the new strategy work was for him to drop back and be the creator rather than the scorer.
The Obisanya stuff was very well done. Though I wonder if there will be any fallout aside from the team grows closer together because his teammates pitched in for him.
Though, agreed, that Keeley’s story seems weirdly disconnected.
They were pretty blunt about it mirroring Rebecca and Rupert’s courtship.
