Teeming Millions Homepage -- Volunteers Needed

I’m looking for some volunteers to help me maintain the site. What I am looking for is someone who can spare about an hour a week maximum. Here are the jobs/qualifications I am looking for:

Job 1 - profile maintenance. This person needs a working knowledge of basic HTML and a reliable email address. Duties would include recieving email with profile information and then using an online form to generate profiles, then editing the Updates page and the Name Index page to reflect new profiles and changes.

Job 2 - map maintenance. This person would need a working knowledge of basic HTML, a working copy of PSP 5.0 or better, and knowledge of working with layers in .psp files. Duties would be updating the “wall map” image and page.

If you’re interested, please contact me  dopes@fathom.org

(sorry, but with my business getting more and more…um…well, business, I have less and less time to maintain the TM homepage)

Maybe you need another volunteer for keeping the post at the top of the list.

LOL!!! Yes…

Job 3: needs a good sense of timing. Duties include posting now and then to this thread to keep it at the top…hehehe!

Opal: I’m willing to do my part…to keep it on top

How many hours a week are we talking here?

Just add water, it makes it’s own sauce!

I know exactly zero html, so I can’t help you there. If you would like, though, I’d be willing to rewrite the various help sections, which seem to hark back to AOL. Drop me a line if I can help you maintain your wonderful site.

Livin’ on Tums, Vitamin E and Rogaine

BurnMeUp: for job 1, probably 15 minutes a week, depending on how fast you are, but never over an hour. Job 2 is gonna take a bit longer in the shortrun, because it is horridly out of date. Once it is caught up, it should take about the same as job1. Job 3 should only take a few minutes of your time

Manhattan: That would be great! Email me ok? dopes@fathom.org

I’ll take job 1, email me the info

I’m interested in either, Opal. I know enough HTML to have designed all my web pages from scratch (just me typing the commands in a word processing program); they’re nothing spectacular :::insert Laura’s envy of your pages here::: , but they were fun to make.

Burn Me Up has signed on for Job 1, though, and I’m not sure about Job 2. I have no idea what PSP 5.0 is, so I may be disqualified. Anyway…let me know what I can do for yah.

Laura

PSP 5.0 (or better) means Paint Shop Pro (either version 5 or 6) which you can download at www.jasc.com

I’ve had 3 volunteers for Job 1, so I need to talk with you all to see who would be best qualified… or the job could be shared. Up to you. Please email me and we’ll discuss

I could make coffee. I’ll e mail(my level of skill)it,or a reasonable facsimimile, to people with job 1 and 2.

I’ll take Job 3 if you want me to. Seems that Omni…not only works part time.

I can do Job 2, though I’m afraid all I have is this pissy little program called Photoshop 5. Will that be okay? I sort of know how to use it, as I have been web designing for two years using it. But it’s no PSP.

Seriously, though. Check out my stuff via my website (in my profile I think) if you wanna know if I’m capable.

“So what you are telling me, Percy, is that something you have never seen is slightly less blue than something else that you have never seen.”

How did I miss seeing this post all weekend? I’d take Job 1 in a hot minute, but it looks like BurnMeUp beat me to it.

::grumble::

Is there anything else on the site I could help with? Need any HTML coding? CGI scripts perhaps? Wash your Windows® for you?

Laugh hard; it’s a long way to the bank.

Opal, can I go to sleep now?

YAWNING

Guano: Does it support .psp files? I have Photoshop, but frankly I never use it, because it hogs my resources. Let me know

Everyone who wants Job 1: I could either set up a team or set up a rotation… I do have some other parts of the site that need to be worked on though… so if one of you wanted to take over the Purity Score page instead, and someone wanted to take over the Addict Score Page, that would be great. Fight among yourselves…

Also wanted but not NEEDED, is someone with a good sense of creativity with an interest in story illustration, to convert text entries into engaging story pages for the Tales section. You’d need to know HTML and a graphics program capable of generating .jpg and .gif files, and be willing/able to come up with catchy titles for stories.

I don’t know if Photoshop can import a layered PSP document. I’m checking all the resources that I have, and it’s inconclusive.

However, I can easily download PSP if you like. Or even better, you don’t have to send the image as layered… or do you?

“So what you are telling me, Percy, is that something you have never seen is slightly less blue than something else that you have never seen.”

Yeah I pretty much do. The pins are a separate layer… PSP is a handy tool anyway… I think you’ll find that it’s faster for most things.
