Tell me about you!

Me, too! I seriously thought about going into the espionage business, but then I thought, “It’s so dangerous!”

Uh, anyways, moving along to…me, I guess:

I’m a crazy 15-year-old Korean-Canadian going through the formulaic teenage angst and rebellion stage. Born in St. Catherine, raised in Toronto. I go to a Christian school, which I hate, because they’re really not showing any of that God’s love stuff. It’s really subliminal Christian propaganda. Not that I have anything against Christians, but it’s just my school I don’t like.

I play violin, piano, and guitar. I’m considered “gifted” in the mathematical area. But, my favourite subject in school right now is drama. I’m an “aspiring actress”, I guess.

I like watching movies, daydreaming, sleeping, beaches, sunsets, walking my dog, reading (especially Harry Potter), Jennifer Garner and Keanu Reeves. :stuck_out_tongue: (I’m 15…What did you expect??) One day, I hope to learn how to use sai, be in a movie, skydive and go bungee-jumping, and move to L.A. My current favourite movie is Constantine. I won’t bore you with my other list: My All-Time Favourite Movies. I’m addicted to Diet Coke and McDonald’s Big Macs with fries.

I don’t like cockroaches (or anything with long antennae for that matter), messy desks, Pepsi, and bratty children whose parents can’t control them.

As for my personality, I’m smack dab in the middle between introverted and extroverted.

[hijack]Can I steal this for a sig line?[/hijack]

Me–

Grew up in South/South-west Nova Scotia, currently going to school in Halifax and hoping to stay here for the summer as well–I’ll miss my friends but I’ll miss the city more.
I’m studying Journalism.
I like most kinds of music except Rap and some Pop.
Complete and utter anime nut, and yet by otaku standards I’m only normal. Though I still watch Sailor Moon.
I’m shy with little self-confidence, at least around people and situations that I’m not familiar with. I open up easily though, at least with certain types of people.
Bi-curious, so both genders can feel free to flirt with me

I also tend not to talk much sometimes–I say what I have to say and leave it at that. Other times I tend to ramble. This is not one of those other times, so if you want to know more, just ask. Otherwise, this is it.

I’m almost 26, born in India, moved to Quebec when I was 2, Massachusetts when I was 12. Moved back to Canada for undergrad, moved back to the US for future grad school possibilities/work. Now I go to a ginormous public school in the Midwest to study The Law. Which I’m not really doing since I’m posting here. Anyway, I’m counting the days till I get to move out to California, which is where I filed for the Bar…mainly b/c it has the shortest bar application of the states I was looking at and a really low pass rate (I need a challenge).

I’m vaguely single (I don’t think for much longer), adore cats, have a nice family. The only thing I will miss about the state I live in now is my sister, who coincidentally got into a medical school in the city (I’m slumming it in the countryside at State U while she goes to Expensive Private U).

Hello and welcome!

Let me explain. No, is too much, let me sum up:
I am a 30 year old bisexual female, born and raised in California mostly. I’ve also lived in Germany for a year and Scotland for 3 years. I am intelligent but lazy, geeky but hip, and lately more of a lurker here than usual.
I have a twin sister and five other siblings, one of whom died about a year and a half ago. My parents are divorced and I like it that way. I HATE my stepmom.
I prefer salty to sweet, rock to country, cranberry juice to orange juice. I love hiking and cooking. I have the best dog in the entire world. I am possibly the world’s biggest female Dune geek. Ardent liberal, atheist, and a very nice smile or so I’m told.

Thanks for asking!

Hi Sweetfreak.

I’m 37, from Michigan, I lived here almost all my life except for 3 years in Chicago. I’m on my second marriage, have two kids from my first (a girl 12 and a boy 10) and have a stepson who is 16.

I tend to fall on the liberal side of things, but not always.

I love animals, and have a zoo at my home (2 dogs, 1 cat, 3 degus, 1 hamster, 1 iguana and fish). I also belong to the Detroit Zoo.

I work in typsetting for a company that has been around longer than the U.S.A. (founded in 1775).

I read and watch sci-fi, play on my computer and fondly remember the days that I could afford comic books.

Oh, all right.

I’m a native of Southern California, but I moved Northern Washington a bit over a year ago.

The one thing I’m most passionate about is flying. Especially helicopters. Unfortunately, I can’t afford to fly.

The other thing I’m passionate about – nearly as much as flying – is filmmaking. I’ve worked on a number of no-budget films as a grip, camera operator, or whatever else needed to be done, and have even appeared in the films. (The last one I was in was Cut Up. I get killed in the titles.) I’m getting ready to shoot a 16mm short in a couple of months. I’m a poor writer, but everyone loves my script.

I used to make a good living as a data management analyst. My job went to Indian contractors. I’m unemployed at the moment. I need to find a job that will let me fly.

I like riding my motorcycles; especially my YZF-R1. (That’s it, outside of my old apartment.) I’ll still ride my old Seca II as well. I’ve put over 78,000 miles on that one since it was new.

I’ve been waiting two years for my '66 MGB roadster to get restored. Fingers crossed that it will be done before Summer. It’s going to be a replica of my first car – a non-running '66 MGB that my mom gave me after high school.

I have a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver certificate.

My house is a short block from the beach.

I’m a horrible housekeeper, but I like to cook. Everyone says I’m a good cook.

I was engaged to be married recently, but she changed her mind.

I used to speak Japanese when I was very young. I learned German, but there’s no one to speak it with so I’m extremely rusty. Ya ne gavaryu pa-Russki. Je ne parle pas français. I play the guitar a little, and sometimes I play a tin whistle.

If I won the lottery, the first thing I would buy is a new Robinson R-22, or maybe an R-44. The second thing I’d do is pay off the house. The third thing I would buy is an Aaton 35. I’d revisit Europe, and I’d go to Australia. I don’t know what I’d do with the rest. Probably save it in case I get a girlfriend.

I’m a double Gemini (sun and moon both in Gemini), but I’m not sure what that’s supposed to mean. I think someone told me in a thread, but I’ve forgotten what they said.

I own a kilt.

I’m nineteen and a student.

I am 32, straight, male, and pagan, but only to the point where I don’t think I’m annoying about it. I believe heavily in Karma, and think that both creation AND evolution are right.

I’m a fire investigator/firefighter/public safety technology manager/telecom operator and paramedic from the south side of Chicago. I’ve been in public safety my entire adult working life. The worst job I ever had was as a kid, shoveling horse crap at a stable. The neatest job I ever had was a DoD officer/agent (I’ve performed armed physical security duty for the POTUS).

I like camping, hiking, photography, poetry and painting. I collect all types of weapons, and really enjoy history.

I could spend days at the ren faire.

I’m wearing with pride my 1st of what I hope will be many Utilikilts and wish I could get away with nothing BUT kilts (and I usually wear them properly regemented).

I read insane amounts of just about everything, and don’t care much for modern novels (with the exceptions of; Carl Hiaasen, Nelson Demille and the occasional Clancy). I read and re-read Bukowski, Thompson, Vonnegut and oddly enough, Proust.

I would move to the Caribbean in a second if I could make it work. I love Chicago, but I’m bloody sick of her winters.

I’m loud, outspoken, and enjoy good food, good booze and good music. I hate whiners, abhor the entire culture of political correctness, and am a tad hedonistic.

Organized sports and organized religion are, in my humble opinion, the two things, above all others, that sound the death knell for the western world.

Beyond that, there ain’t much.

I’m a gun-shoot’n, meat-eat’n, beer drink’n, Midwestern redneck. Any questions?

Nordic
Raised in NJ as well.
Also been told that I think like Ayn Rand, but haven’t ever read the books, so I can’t vouch for that.

dare devil007
Bratty kids suck, but the bratty parents are worse.

I would flirt with you…it’s so tempting…but…I’m probably too old for you. :frowning:

I wish you luck on passing the Bar.

Thank you for the welcome.
Another bisexual female. Woo Hoo!
I am sorry about your sibling. :frowning:

odinoneeye
First of all, love the name. I worship Loki, sometimes.
Second, does the Detroit Zoo know you escaped?

I could spend days at the ren faire as well.
A kilt, huh? Kewl!

Nightwatch Trailer
Short, to the point, I could learn something from you.

Another kilt wearer! Kewl, again!
The only weapon I have ever wanted to own is a long sword and a light saber. Someday.

Thanks for all the responses so far. Keep 'em coming.

Just one.
Teach me how shoot?

If I won the lottery, the first thing I would buy is this.

No one *ever * thinks of me as a motorcycle mama, but I want a motorcycle so bad I can taste it.

Actually, that was buttonjockey who could spend days at the ren faire.

Broadsword?
Just for you. The blade is three feet long, and hideously sharp. (And I mean ‘just for you’. I just now put it on my C-stand and snapped the photo.)

I can teach you to shoot, too.

I’m a 24 year old guitar playing, chain smoking alcoholic lab tech. I live in Iqaluit, Nunavut, Canada’s newest capital mostly because when I was looking for a job after school this placed seemed the most fucked up of my choices. It was, and is, and I am having a blast.

I like reading lots. Vonnegut, Gibson, DeMille, Kesey, Pirsig, Stephenson, etc, etc.

I am going back to school this fall with hopes of becoming an MD someday. If not, I want to be either a rock star or a racecar driver.

I also love movies and camping in the Rockies, meeting new people, havin a good time with friends, etc, etc, etc.

I somehow feel like I just filled out a personal ad. How gauche

Doh! :smack: Too much time on my computer. Must do something productive.

Shweeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet! I want. Gimmie!

But, can you teach me to shoot without flying backwards to fall on my behind from the kickback?

Got a sheath for it?

I guess I could be your backstop.

Oh, yeah. This thread is ‘Tell me about yourself’. My sense of humour has been described as ‘relentless’. Also, ‘Dammit, Johnny! I never know when you’re serious!’ And ‘You’ll get used to him.’

I’m 32. Born in PR but living in Miami since I was 10.

I was run over by a car going 40 mph right after I finished high school. Massive head trauma, took 4 years of rehab to recover…still have slight speech problem because of it. The total personality change brought about by that incident made it the best thing that ever happened to me.

Still managed to go & finish college.

Took care of mom until she passed way in 2003 from pulmonary fibrosis.

Went back to school and finished two graduate degrees.

Played classical guitar for 12 years but taking a break to get my MCDBA.

In the process of buying my first home. It’s a tiny condo (yes, I’m still freaking out about the entire purchase decision) but it is away from the place where I took care of mom and it’s a waterfront property.

My old boss called me up a two months ago and hired me away from my present job. I start over there Monday March 14th, and she got me a GREAT deal.

I have a waaay cool girlfriend.

Hello!

I’m 46. I was born in Hamilton, ON and came to Florida 7 years ago to marry my wife, who, as you can read elsewhere here, started out as a mail-order customer from 1500 miles away. We were both Beatles collectors, and she saw my ad in a publication to which we both subscribed. And that’s how it started. It’ll be 7 years in May for us, and we really like being married. We can’t figure out why so many people find it so hard. We live in a house in the suburbs. We have three cats. We got a new car last fall. We’re doing OK.

I’m a radio annoucer and producer at a company which has three separate radio stations. My first radio job was in 1974. I spend all my time making sound items to go on the air, and reading copy and editing my voice. It seems that all I do all day is edit, edit, edit. Slaving over a hot computer. But that’s OK. I really love my job and I’m good at it. I’ve done a lot of things for a living that weren’t nearly as interesting.

Not on that list is having been a musician since the early '60s. I showed an aptitide on piano at a very young age, and went to two different teachers, who had to give up on me. See, I can’t read music. It confuses me. I’d have to stop and count the notes in the chord, figure out which ones they were, where my fingers went, and what was coming up next, etc. By that time, the band would have finished the song and gone for a drink. But I can play by ear. You show me how something goes, and within the limits of my ability, I’ll play it back to you. I’m essentially self-taught on keyboards, and drums, and guitar, and bass. I played with some regularity for 30 years, in clubs and studios and basements. I like to do multitrack demos at home on the computer, with me playing all the instruments and singing all the voices.

I collect records and CDs. I remember wanting my first one in 1963. All my life, I always had more records than my friends. Now I’ve got 12,000 of them. From the late 1800s through 1990, when I lost interest in current music. My other hobby is to restore records on the computer. I’ve refined a technique for removing scratches and noise from records, so that you get a pristine, noiseless rendition. Some of my restoration work has been issued on CD to the public on compilations.

I joined here in June 2003 after lurking and reading the archive, and then I joined up. I like it here. Watch out, these people are sharp! They know everything!

And that’s a little bit about me.

Hellos, Welcome

I’m 26, going on 27. Married very happily and monogamous but I flirt with everyone, so excuse my signals if they get all crossed. I love everyone a little bit, sometimes. Must be the Gemini in me. Born bi, married straight.

Painfully shy in reality, but I don’t think I appear too shy on the boards. I’m originally from New Brunswick, Canada (hellos to the other Maritimers, here, I learn something new every day! I’se the b’y, and all that, how *aboat * it? Okay I’ll stop now) I moved out here to Seattle unexpectedly - it was a vacation that turned into a romance that turned into a marriage. I don’t miss home at all, and love Seattle and hope to live here in Ballard forever.

I’m a housewife because I’m still working on my paperwork (the DoHS has informed us that things are backed up almost 6-8 months on their end, so it’s taking much longer than we’d hoped, but it’s coming along.) I enjoy cooking, cleaning, gardening, painting, and writing, which I have lots of time to do since I don’t work. I’m also a gamer girl, and an otaku.

I have two cats I love to death. They’re my substitutes until my husband and I have real children

Taoist. Sometimes.

What the heck. I’ll play.

I’m 40, female, married and monogamous. I have a 15-year-old daughter, three cats and a Mastiff. Born and raised in the Chicago area and have lived here my whole life. I’m a stay-at-home mom, freelance writer and professional crafter (these things often coincide.) I have ADD and I’m very nearsighted. I’m a high-school dropout with an associate’s degree in art. I am also a Rennie (Bristol’s my home away from home). I’m a smoker, non-drinker, no drugs. I like lots of music, but lately have been listening to mostly folk and country. I’m a rabid Eddie Izzard fan. I volunteered for years as a Girl Scout leader, and have been a consistent pain in the ass to my local school board for the last four years (I’m a parent advocate in the district.) I have a sister, 2 brothers, 3 stepbrothers and 2 stepsisters, a mom undergoing radiation therapy for breast cancer and I’m the “primary caregiver” for my elderly in-laws (that’s in quotes because they don’t need THAT much care, but they need someone available, and I’m it.)

I think that’s about it…
