It may sound stupid, but the only email clients I use are Hotmail and Yahoo. But if I try to save an email for future reference and discharge my inbox, the saved email will try to connect when I double click on it. If I save it as “Web page, html only”, the result is a mess when iexplorer opens it.
What should I do to keep all my private emails in single files, to be fastly readable in the future, and keeping my inbox clean?
(I’m not dumb in computers, in fact, I’m good at it but I haven’t found how to solve this, excuse me).
I assume that you are tyring to save the mail locally on your computer. I wonder if you might be able to save them as “text only” or non html email. You would loose graphics and formatting. Is it possible to have an additional folder in Hotmail or Yahoo to save them?
Yes, but if I saved as text only, the result is another mess. To find the required part I got to erase all the formatting -non working now- and keep only the desired text.
Ok, how about having Outlook get the messages from the Yahoo server and you would then have them in Outlook format. You could first weed out the ones that you wanted to save and then open Outlook and get them to your machine. Yahoo Mail Help
Maybe I’m missing something, but why not ‘Select all’ fron the File menu and Copy, then paste into a Notepad text file? It would introduce a lot more fussing about with the mail, but it’s as non-tech a solution as I can see.
Nope, copying into text it’s easier, but sometimes you’d want to keep it with any graphic stuff that the email comes with. Saving as html would be the solution if was not as pages “expire”.
I think **Toddly ** is closer to the solution. I’ll be trying.
