Okay, so I’m driving in to work this morning, and the local radio show I listen to starts going off on Alec Baldwin. According to these guys, Baldwin made some rather idiotic statements while giving a speech or making some sort of presentation at a college in Florida (I think). The radio guys quoted Baldwin as saying something to the effect of the 9/11 attack was similar to the 2000 presidential election, in that both were attacks on democracy.
If Baldwin actually said this, he’s off the deep end. On the other hand, if the local radio guys got this story wrong (which isn’t outside the realm of possibility, frankly), then they deserve to be castigated for raking Baldwin over the coals without cause.
I Googled for a news story on this, but got no luck. Anybody know anything?
Surfing yesterday I heard Fox News discussing this “Smart Alec” remark. His comments were made to a liberal audience and even they pretty much rolled their eyes on this one.
I’ve liked one or two of his movies okay but am pretty tempted to boycott any further crap he puts out.
Every time Alec Baldwin opens his mouth these days (for the last 3 years at least), it just reminds me that beauty does not equal intelligence. I wish he would realize the same and go back to making by-the-numbers suspense thrillers.
It’s too bad, really, because Alec Baldwin is actually a fairly talented actor. (Don’t believe me? Rent Miami Blues and State and Main back to back.) But every time he seems to be getting up some momentum, he opens his big dumbass mouth and vents some idiotically uberliberal claptrap. Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely on the liberal side, but Baldwin embarrasses me the way Ann Coulter must embarrass thoughtful conservatives.
Good comparison! Yeah, for thoughtful liberals Mr B is an embarassment. We ignore him and think lustful thoughts about Kim Basinger. (Are they still married or do I recall correctly that she has reentered the market especially for me?)
